Let me start by saying this review is for this location ONLY. I also waited 2 days after visiting to allow myself to calm down. This is calm me posting this honest review. Apparently there are several locations around, but judging by the way the staff at this one acted the day I visited, I will not be patronizing any of their locations. Their staff training is in dire need of assistance... Hubs and I were walking around downtown and I had heard great reviews about Coffea, so I wanted to try their dirty chai, as I do everywhere we travel. We walked in and were instantly greeted (kindly) by the employee at the cash register. He was on it! However, he was the ONLY employee out of the three behind the counter willing to work. The other two were too busy flirting, playing, making coffee for themselves, whatever, to even LOOK at the line of customers beginning to form. And for the record, when we walked in there was not a single person in the shop without a drink. We were the first to have ordered in who-knows-how-long. Therefore, I have ZERO tolerance for the excuses that followed. I placed my order and waited about five minutes for the employees to figure out the even HAD an order to fill. The guy behind me placed his order, and the cashier proceeded to make THAT guy's coffee, so I finally spoke up. I asked him why the employees were too busy hanging out & chatting & joking around with some woman at the end of the bar, making themselves coffees that the girl employee admittedly told the lady at the bar, "I can't help myself, I'm addicted to these they're SO good!" (Again this is AFTER I had already been waiting for my ONE drink that I paid over $8 for.) I asked the cashier why the employees seemed more interested in goofing off than serving customers. He looked over and answered, "Well it takes a while to pull a shot." UMMM Yeah it does... especially if you don't bother to PULL that shot for the first 10 minutes I'm standing there waiting for it. ‍ Needless to say, the other guy behind the counter supposedly "working" finally got to work on my chai... and acted as if he didn't know where anything was. Almost like it was his first day thrown into the mix with no training at all. None of his fellow "workers" (I use that term loosely) bothered to help him out. The girl was still stuck on her 2 drinks she was playfully making, giggling at the woman at the counter. My drink was nearly done and suddenly something was SLAPPED down in front of me that looked like a business card. I mean slapped. So hard I felt a breeze and thought one of the fingernails to the person almost scratched my face. I looked down to see what it was, turned it over and it was a coupon for a free drink at any of their locations. I looked up and it was the woman they were goofing off with who was sitting at the counter who had slapped it down. Apparently she WORKED there?!? Maybe she was the manager? I don't know. She didn't say a word, just glared at me. I'm sorry, ma'am that I, a business owner with experience owning and managing multiple retail stores and over 15 employees at one time, expect those employees to DO THEIR JOB when there are customers present. She never said a word to me, not an apology, nothing. Wouldn't even look me in the eye while she stood literally directly in front of me pouring someone else's coffee. I got my coffee and walked out. I could offer excuses like maybe one of the employees was having an "off" day. Maybe they were ultra busy earlier and were all taking a break - at. the. same. time. But the conditions just weren't there for any of those reasonings. It was pure rudeness, plain and simple. The ONLY reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 to this review was the coffee was decent. But if you want good service on a weekend (even a slow weekend), go elsewhere. read more

Oh the scone is so good. Especially the peanut butter one which is not too sweat. Coffee is top notch. It's a short walk from our hotel (Hilton) and advice you to skip their breakfast and Starbucks. Just come here to Coffea. What an interesting name!! The hour is normal from 7am to 8 pm ish. Inside has plenty of space as well as this not so quiet outdoor seating. There is not shade btw so pack your sunglasses. I see about 10 seats and a few benches. The scone is finished. It's delicious but I wish I warmed it up a bit. Coffee is of high standard and satisfactory to my picky wife. I just have hotel coffee as it's free or paid for already (yes I am frugal). Inside has some nice artworks and well decorated. You can probably work here but do you really want to work inside a cafe nowadays? read more

I stopped by here this past Saturday with my wife and her parents for our morning coffees. Coffea Roasterie is located on S Phillips Ave right next to the horse sculpture on the sidewalk. The inside of the place is pretty cool with a lunch counter, comfortable seating and tables. There is a lot of wood including the hardwood floor and wood lunch counter and the walls are painted a soothing slate grey. Finally there is some nice black and white photos on the wall of natural things like an arch and some mountains. For my coffee on this morning I went with a large Americano. At Coffeea you are actually given the choice of three different coffees for your Espresso. My wife and I went with the Guatemalan which had tasting notes of blackberry, brown sugar and was supposed to be creamy while my mother in law went with the Ethiopian. The Americano here ended up being quite good. You could tell the beans were freshly roasted and they took care not to roast the flavor nuances out of them. So in my coffee I really did get the coffee flavor at first, followed by some fruitiness that tasted like blackberry with a slightly sweet finish. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I loved that they gave you single origin options for your Espresso and thought the coffee tasted great too. read more

Over all pretty cool place, chill music, comfy chairs, a bar to drink at, bar height table and chairs, and regular table and chairs all available for seating. I also am a big fan of Cortado, a coffee drink of half steamed milk and half espresso. A picture of Cortado was placed on Yelp by on of other reviewers, so I assumed that it was on the menu. I know tea and Lattes differ but this Coffea drink takes the moon! It was SO good it makes me sad that I have to travel back to KS and will probably never get this again I'm keeping a star and not giving a full five because the gal at the register was not friendly. At. All. I even tried to ask a question and mentioned that this was a suggestion. Zero Fs given by here. I get it. We all have bad days but I don't really care when you're there to do your job. Rude and condescending people selling overpriced drinks. We came in all the way from California on a recommendation of a friend, because we wanted tea / coffee for the CH Patisserie macaroons that we had gotten. I've spent time sitting at the bar working, and have overheard them making fun of customers for asking for things like a Caramel Macchiato because apparently that's only a Starbucks drink. It's fine that they don't serve that but it's not okay to make fun of customers behind the counter when others can hear you. They also are snooty about which drinks can be iced or hot. Maybe snooty coffee just isn't for me but I would rather drink gas station coffee than deal with stuck up people. Giving two stars only because of the butterscotch latte in the fall.
