The ride itself is exuberant. The boat was full of twists and turns and not to mention getting drenched with ocean water. I could have done without all the obnoxious commentation from some quirky girl they hired to entertain everyone while on our way out to the no wake zone. Also there was no need for her to point out the rather obvious sewer tower to all passengers. It was just over the top in terms of being crude and annoying. The music was cool but a little on the loud side. They could have tweaked the volume down a bit to accommodate everybody. My trip was one of the lucky ones in that there were a couple of intoxicated guys aboard that had to be briskly escorted back to the dock. We all suffered the consequence as we went ashore just to head out again. All in all, it fell short of meeting my expectations. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

This was a lot of fun. The jokes were kind of blah but the experience was cool especially on a hot summer day. I would definitely go with someone. I wouldn't think going alone would be that fun. It was a blast. Family outing (with 11yo and 8yo) to celebrate older daughters bday. It was roasting hot for starters so getting on the boat was a good beginning. Liz our host was great and very entertaining. Yes, cheesy story but kids loved it esp she included our bday girl in her story. Getting soaked was a must in 95F weather and who doesn't get a kick out of that zooming zigzags across the harbor hanging on for dear life! And yes, sit in the back for extra soak! Well It's a little weird that this is 4 & a half but I guess lame people gave them 4. I'm from the Caribbean and I've gone on lots of rides before similar to this but by far this has been the best. Our tour guide was Matt He was incredibly funny and witty and just kept us entertained the entire ride. (Took 9 year old twins) The captain clearly skilled with the way he manipulated the boat. Very fast after getting to the green zone. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the ride.. It's a must try. read more

I have been on this twice and I went on Monday recently. I loved it! I love taking my friends on it and we got a discount because we are students, thank god we had our student IDs. We went on Codzilla yesterday and were very disappointed. In previous years we've enjoyed a fun ride in the Boston harbor that delivered what it advertised. In what must be a cost cutting move, this year we went out to Deer Island, floated for ages while the Codzilla story was narrated (in previous years this occurred while we were under way in the no wake zone), and then did a few half-hearted spins in the harbor that barely got us damp. We noticed that the boat was surprisingly dry when we first sat down and now we know why. So long Codzilla. I'm sure you'll still get the tourist dollars but you're no longer very fun or worth the money. read more

Codzilla was the worst 50 minutes I spent this summer. I got 100% soaked from head to toe and had no idea that was going to happen going into it. It was freezing, the boat really doesn't do anything interesting other than drive directly into waves and purposely gets everyone wet. The two hosts did a lame "comedy" routine where one pretended he was afraid of a real Codzilla. They give you a few pointless basic facts about a couple minor sights in the harbor on the way out to Deer Island where they begin trying to get you completely drenched. Personally thought that the ride was a good thrill and exciting; for the 15 minutes it lasted. They claim the ride is "45 minutes" but doesn't last that long since most of the time they are talking or they cannot go fast because they are in a "safety zone area". It should be longer length to make up for the time wasted. Dissatisfied with the amount of money I spend, $29 per person, and will not return in the future. If you visit Boston, this attraction is a must. I don't walk away from most tourist attractions feeling like my money was well spent. This was an exception. Went for a ride as a corporate outing. You definitely want to sit in the front if you want to avoid getting wet. If you want to get wet sit in the middle of the boat. You also will want to keep your mouths closed!!! The boat captain Ian was really good and I felt totally safe. Sarah put on a great show describing her person experience with Codzilla. She definitely made the adventure more enjoyable for the crowd. The only downside it the ride is very short, 40 minutes. From leaving the pier and back. So the actual twisting and turning only last about 15 minutes. But a great adventure for kids or out of town tourists. read more

Two stars is supposed to mean: Meh, Ive experienced better. I think that is the perfect description for this ride/boat tour. I first saw Codzilla a couple years ago and ever since, wanted to ride. A friend of mine was moving away so we decided to try it out before he left Boston. I guess I may have had too high of hopes for this ride in Boston harbor. Video of it online and in commercials and just the look of the boat and amount of Hp it has made it seem like the ride should be amazing. Once on board, I was not impressed. There was a horrible and corny script for the crew to work their way through before any fun could really start and once the boat gets out a little ways he speeds up and does a couple of doughnuts and then stops and the script continues. Then it does some more doughnuts and then stops again. They walk around and ask people what they think and I felt like most people said they wanted more of the doughnuts and high speed but after they stopped asking the boat did one more and started heading in. All in all, i think this tour is short, there is no real tour value provided, no history or interesting facts, mostly the opposite, pirate voices and bad stories, and there are definitely better options available for high speed harbor tours. I went with two teens on Labor Day weekend. Sad to say it did not live up to our expectations. The scripted jokes were corny; yes, I realize it's part of the experience. They got no laughter and people seemed to be thinking 'enough already.' Maybe it was the less than ideal weather, but the boat was maybe one quarter full. I don't know if any of these factors influenced the driver, but aside from a few bumps and only one instance of splashing, it was just a fast boat ride. We live in this area all our lives we wanted to take kids out for something fun. It was a blistering 90 degree morning in Boston. We got on the large boat with a friendly crew 3-4. We went out to deer island area they did a few quick turns with some tale of Codzilla. More talking than cruising. Not really impressed at all. As we exited a crew member folded up some of his own money and put in his fingers to get others to tip. Very poor taste. We told the crew it was too short and too much talking. We should of been just cruising more. As a family of 5 and the cost. There are better thrilling things to do in Boston. read more

The MC was good. The ride and the "2nd Mate's" jokes were terrible. The whole ride was a complete disappointment. The promo pictures; advice about getting wet and even seat belts at the front of the boat would make you think this would be the ride of your life. Fact it is boring. A new born baby wouldn't have been at risk! First they take you out at a slow pace (no wake til after the green buoy); then we encounter a tug (again slow - don't want any damaging wakes); on it goes. Of the 40 minutes, 30+ minutes involved putting along and terrible jokes. I purchased a ticket for my grandson as a birthday gift figuring he would surely get a thrill out of the Godzilla. I was surprised that he didn't fall asleep. I must say the view of Boston from the harbor is beautiful. However, this is a ride for the truly elderly. No excitement at all - in my opinion. Went on a 90 degree sunny day. Crew was very pleasant and fun. Boat was clean. Ride was VERY SHORT about a half hour in total with only about 10 minutes of actual fun fast turning. Fun but not worth the money. Ride should be longer and there should be more turns and bumps. read more

RIPOFF!!! Waaay overpriced & NOT extreme at all. Extreme for a 4 year old or elderly person, maybe. Total false marketing. Felt scammed. Also thought it was disgusting that they made the passengers contribute to their false advertising by telling us to all yell at the end so that the people walking by would think it was fun. We didn't get soaked & didn't go that fast. In fact it felt less fast than most boats I've been on because the boat is so large so you don't feel the speed as much as you would on a smaller boat. And the guide claimed after it was over that you only get wet if it's windy out. The whole experience was really disappointing. Took my two boys who are 10 & 13 years old, and they didn't feel like it was a thrill ride at all & actually got bored and wanted to get back to land sooner when they realized there wasn't much to it. The excursion consists of 5 minutes of them giving safety instructions, then a total of 30 minutes of riding slowly in the wake zone while they tell some fictional ridiculous cheesy story about codzilla, it's a story that would only be entertaining for children under 6 years old.  Then for only about 5 minutes do they go at full speed, which still didn't feel that fast unless you've never been on a boat before. We felt completely scammed by their false advertising of them saying it was extreme & super fast. This should've cost at most $10 per person & they should've at least given some accurate history about all the islands we were going by to make it more interesting and at least make you feel like you learned something, especially since most of the passengers were adults and not children. Having to shell out $120 with the tix fees for 4 people for essentially a 5 minute kids ride was insulting & definitely NOT worth it (plus $40 for parking). The most exciting part of this ride was waving to the people on the cruise ships as we passed them on the boat. If someone from the Codzilla Company is reading this, we really feel like we should be reimbursed & then I'll consider taking this posting down after being shown some decent business practices. read more

I have been on great jet boat rides, I wish this was one of them. We were initially told when buying tickets for a 6pm ride that it would last 40 minutes and it started boarding at 5:45. When we got in line at 5:15 to make sure we got good seats we were told by one of the crew they were running late and boarding probably wouldn't start till 6. No biggie. We ended up boarding around 6:10 and were told the PA system was down so there wouldn't be any music or anything during the ride. That stinks, but we were all already on the boat, so I wasn't going to leave because of it. We were left the harbor, went pretty quick, did a handful of "360s" (more like 180*s that they let coast to 360*), hopped a couple of other boat's wakes and then went back in. It was fun, would be great for a kid but IMO, not worth the money. We were back off the boat and onto land at 6:37. No where close to the 40 minutes we were told. That is roughly 1.5x more expensive/minute then what we were told. If we bought tickets and the ride was really 40 minutes, but at the end they said we owed them another $13/each I would be pretty mad. So why they think that is acceptable, I don't understand. read more

This boat ride is a blast - even for us "60ish" kids. You HAVE to take this ride at least once. The only disappointment is when the ride ends - because you want more! Codzilla staff very entertaining while heading out, then.....LET THE FUN BEGIN! The hotter the weather, the more you'll love it! (Won't worry about my doing my hair the next time.) Ride back to the dock gave people time to take pictures and enjoy Boston scenery. BHC staff prior to boarding very informative and pleasant, and gave us "pointers" on where to sit, etc. Ticket a little pricey, and wish the ride was a little longer, but had a lot of fun!! read more

This was our first time in Boston and initially we wanted to do the whale watch. We were told it boarded at 2, however it really left at 1:30 so we decided to try the codzilla since our waiter recommended it. We were not made aware that we would get wet. We assumed we would get sprayed alittle but we were totally drenched!! My son's cell phone was ruined, and afterwards, I tripped and fell and really hurt myself bad!! I would not suggest this ride to anyone wearing anything but a bathing suit as you will get totally soaked. We ended up having to pay for another night's hotel stay to be able to shower and dry off for the rest of the evening's activities and now my son has to buy a new phone not to mention my injuries. I wish they would have informed us that we would get wet and offer a rain poncho or plastic bag for the phone, etc. read more

When on this ride and did not have a good experience. Before I went on I let them know I was nervous and they said that it would be fine and recommended that I sit somewhere in the middle. Went on the boat and the commentator explains for 10 minutes explains the low down and then says "if you want to change your seat now would be the time.' I looked around and wanted to change my seat to one with a seat belt but there was not one available. During the ride I literally almost fell off my chair and my pocketbook went flying off. The commentator even had to tell the captain, "ok captain stop spinning around now.' My daughter ended up biting her lip on the ride and I was afraid she was going to smash her face on the medal railing in front of her. I let them know after leaving the boat that I felt that everyone should have a seat belt. Not just the few rows in the front. read more

We won tickets and only had to purchase one. I'm not sure that my kids were totally psyched to give up a beach day to go on a boat ride at first. However, the minute we pulled out into open water it was obvious they were having a blast. The best was when the captain would head for waves created by the other boats and we would not only speed but ride up and over waves. When the boat would take a break from spins etc. we couldn't stop laughing at each others hair. Some of us were sporting blown out hair from the 70's and others were just plain wet rats. The three kids were loving the high speeds while one of the mom's clung to me for dear life. Yes the trip seemed a little short. However, it left the kids wanting more which is probably better than letting everyone get bored or too used to the high speeds. All in all pretty fun. It definitely goes faster than I had anticipated. The front is supposed to be the safest in terms of getting wet - but it is the ocean and the wind and tide definitely play into it! We got wet when I went and we sat towards the middle near the front. I agree with the other reviews that the premise and story is a bit much, but the guide was entertaining, even if a bit over the top. They do have ponchos if you really want one. We got on codzilla on a whim and we were a little unprepared for the event! First of all the ride through the no wake zone was entertaining and fun thanks to our first mate Alex. Once the captain passed that it was a high speed ride with sharp turns. They say you might get wet, I will say bring an extra change of clothes. We were 1st in line and excited for our ride only to find out they never received our reservation and the ride was sold out for several hours. What a disappointment! Completely poor communication! Called before we left for a 2hr.drive to Boston to make sure weather was good and boat was ok to depart. This was a surprise birthday gift for my nephews. We arrived after a long drive to be disappointed by a cancellation due to rainy weather earlier in the day. No one notified us and the disappointment on my nephews face was heartbreaking. Total scam! Saw the video and got so excited that we brought a change of clothes, anticipating we would get wet. The "mate" directed us where to sit if we wanted to get soaked. The ride into the harbor took 15 minutes just to look at the sewage plant, which is a big part of their "story of Codzilla." Spun around for 10 minutes and then another 15 minute ride back to the dock. My kids were in disbelief as we headed back and I assured them there must be more. We arrived at the dock bone dry and $85 lighter. My kids said they enjoyed Panera Bread more than the boat ride. I'd give this zero stars if it were an option. Save your money. read more

Have been wanting to ride on the Codzilla ever since my husband and I saw it featured on TV. We ordered and printed tickets directly from the website, www.bostonharborcruises.com/codzilla and headed into the city. Best bet on parking (if you don't take the commuter rail, bus or T) is to park at the Aquarium. It's about a 2 minute walk to the Boston Harbor Cruises location just on the other side (north) of the Aquarium. Codzilla boards at Gate 1, and I highly suggest lining up at least 30-45 minutes before the scheduled time to ensure getting the seats you want. You are advised if you want to get wet, sit in the back; or sit in the front, if you want to feel more of the spins/turns action. We sat up front, about 4 rows from the bow, and got a little spray, nothing crazy. I would bring a sweatshirt/windbreaker just to avoid completely getting doused if you plan on getting a drink or food afterwards somewhere in the city. I will spare repeating the same exact observation as the prior reviews in regards to the cheese factor of the crew. Doesn't ruin the scenery though, you can just tune them out and enjoy the speed & awesome vantage point of Boston! Definitely worth checking out! read more

They let people on the boat that CLEARLY should not be allowed to be. If you have an obvious medical problem AND/or a baby you should be told to not go on this ride. Went out on the water and went fast for all of 1 minute, then had to turn around and go back because of a "medical" problem. Got back to the dock looking to see EMT or cops for this "medical" issue and nothing. It was someones baby that could not handle the ride. We were all told to get off and see if there were tickets available for the next few hours, in which case there were hardly any for the next ride. They did not allow us to be first in line for the next ride because, and I quote," It would not be fair to these people in line who have been waiting for 45 minutes to get on". Oh but us standing in line for 45 minutes to get on ride at all is ok. I think they need to rethink there boarding policy and handle the situation MUCH better. read more
