Codio Cigar Shop or Lounge is a superb cigar lounge and the owner, Fausto, intends to close it, but not without a fine farewell this weekend with live entertainment. Fausto and his wife have been operating two lounges and, owing to recent developments, have decided to close this one in Perth Amboy. There are some people who do not want to close the lounge and we shall see if they can maintain and manage it in the future.
Codio Lounge is a welcoming space and the lounge has hosted a number of celebrities, charitable events, events with local police and politicians, and regular live musical and comedy entertainment. This is a lounge that does it all and the owner and his wife, along with the staff are always working hard to ensure everyone has a great time.
One of the unique aspects of this lounge is the ice service. They have the giant ice cubes and balls that do not melt quickly and do not dilute your BYOB beverage. You can bring your finest spirits here, knowing you can enjoy them at their optimum, as you would at the finest bars and speakeasies. The staff are always surveying your glass and everyone's to ensure you have another ice cube or ball and they do it quickly and efficiently without interrupting anything. That's hard work and one of the small, but important, ways they are looking out for you. Much appreciated for an enhanced and top flite experience.
Sometimes, they will have food and it's always great. They have the usual sides like salads, rice and beans, tostones and maduros, and potatoes, but they have lasagna and such tender roasted chicken and pernil! Delicious!
They have a good selection of cigars in the spacious humidor. They have a full spectrum of cigar brands and price points available, including Codio's own Dominican blends. My favorite is his 50th Anniversary cigars in glass tubos. I ask for them all the time and, should this location close, you can find them and other custom blends at the other lounge in Clifton. A select few regulars and members have even managed to have custom blends made for themselves.
Where is all this happening at one lounge? None of this would happen without the tireless efforts of Fausto, his wife and the staff at Codio's in Perth Amboy and, I suspect the same, in Clifton. The bathroom is clean as is the whole lounge. The people who patronize the lounge are good people and everyone is made to feel welcomed. It's a destination lounge and I come here from NYC and another friend comes from Connecticut. If the lounge continues and you have not been here, make it your business to enjoy the Codio's experience. The regulars already know.
