One of the biggest…read morehighlights is the outdoor pool, which is heated during the winter and stays open year-round unless temperatures drop below freezing. The pool also has a 9-foot deep end and a few lap lanes. One downside is there's very little shade around the pool area. Inside, there are free weights and cardio areas, basketball courts, TRX setup, and several group fitness rooms offering classes like yoga, pilates, Zumba, pickleball, and other fitness programs. The instructors and staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. The men's and women's locker rooms also include a steam sauna and hot tub, which are nice amenities. However, the steam saunas are frequently closed or broken for maintenance, so I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm what's currently working before visiting. Another downside is that the lockers require you to bring your own lock--they do not have built-in combination locks like many newer gyms. They offer memberships for different age groups, and another huge plus is the free covered parking garage. However, during weekday evenings (around 6 p.m.), the garage can get pretty full due to after-work crowds and youth programs. I've been a YMCA member for several years and would definitely recommend this location.

Review for summer camp only…read more My son attended summer camp for a week this summer and we won't return/recommend. He told me they basically watched shows/movies and went to the gym which is fine but I paid for him to do something more hands on and learning. Plenty of other camps to explore in houston.

First question asked to me when I checked into this place was, "Did you purchase the yelp deal?" I…read morewas not there for their normal services, which includes kid tutoring and afterschool programs. I was there because my wife wanted something fun and different for my daughter to do on her 8th birthday. You cannot use the yelp deal on a birthday party package, so my answer is a resounding, "I would have, if I could have!" I must start off by stating that the staff is really nice and they genuinely seem to enjoy children. My daughter was having a fairy party, and her and her female friends enjoyed themselves being girly. I must point out that they started off shooting hoops, so no true gender bias here! There were multiple rooms with multiple themes, which included a music room with guitars and keyboards. You know anytime children have a chance to make noise in a place that you bring them to have fun, they will not spare those decibels! The children were treated to dressing as a fairy, designing and building a home that would be in an enchanted forest, if such a thing existed. That included glitter and moss to make sure the house was pretty! The girls also dipped their hands in salts to soften their skin so when they put on makeup and polish their fingers, they were feeling pretty and pampered. All in all, it was a great time had by the girls, and the facilities are decent. The staff ensured each female left happy, so I could not ask for more from them. Professional, friendly staff mixed with multiple activities for your child leads to good memories. Consider them the next time you have a birthday party to throw. Also look in them for the multiple scholastic enhancement programs designed to get your kid growing in multiple areas of life.

Bluey camp I bought this as an Eid gift for my children. We…read moreare definitely a bluey household. My daughter had a bluey themed birthday party just about a month earlier, and most of her clothes are adorned with bluey and bingo. So when I saw that this camp was in town, I knew we had to make it. First things first, which is that we spent just a couple of dollars short shy of $200 for our family of 7 (baby was free so we only bought 6 tickets). At least they didn't charge for the baby, although I'm always annoyed when things like this charge for adults. The check in process was easy and the girl who gave us the tour going in (Sophia) was fun and easy going. You pretty much explore the house for 50 minutes, before you actually are able to meet bingo and bluey. So you're essentially killing time for about an hour. When we came in, they played keepy uppy and had a little dance party later and coloring sheets. It was essentially what I did at my daughter's birthday party, but with strangers. I do wish they had more fun things going on. They definitely could have incorporated more. Because giving kids coloring shades seem like a cop out... That could have been something to just give the kids before they left. Having a dance party and playing keepy uppy is nice, but I felt like the people working there could have done more things or had more fun. A few of the people seem to stay "in character", but some were just doing their job. The house had details from the show, but it also could use a good cleaning and update some of the things. Almost an hour of that seemed to have lulls. I didn't mind it too much because I started feeding my baby, but I can see how just following your kid around in a house would get tiring when they want to see their favorite characters. We finally got to meet bluey and bingo and the person in that room was great about taking our pictures. They informed us that taking the pictures with them would be $15, so we opted to just take pictures on our phone. Whe we were leaving, they had Johnny pops Popsicles in a freezer and I was going to get six of them for our family and they informed me that they are only for kids, even though they charged for the adults. So that was a bummer, but also unnecessary. I asked for one for my younger daughter, and girl at the counter laughed, and I said I was serious. The girl at the counter literally would not give me a popsicle for my other daughter who had to go to the restroom, and waited for her to come back from the restroom just to hand her a popsicle. It left a sour taste in my mouth even though it was not sherbert (get it? Bluey reference). We spent almost $200 and could not have been given less than $8 worth of Popsicles. Ridiculous. Other than that girl with black hair and glasses, everyone else over there is going to be helpful and nice, and it was a fun experience for my children.

Some kids got favored over other kids and received more activities such as treasure boxes and etc. I asked them to rate their experience every day from 1 to 10 and in except few days, their rating was never 5. My kids kept asking when they go back to school? They simply preferred to be at school than in summer camp. I had no other choice but to keep them there for half summer but will not repeat this mistake again. It sounded more like a child care facility than a camp. I checked with other families and mostly had the same experience. Although if you talk to customer service, they are very professional and will do what they can to accommodate you but overall the Kidventure is not a fun camp at all. Most camp teachers are very young kids in their teens or early twenties so im not surprised with their level of service. Overall, i wish I had done more research. Camp Jam - Simply Amazing!…read more Where do I even begin? Camp Jam was an absolutely incredible experience for my 6-year-old son last summer. As soon as we picked him up on the last day, he was already begging to go back again this year! The staff was phenomenal - incredibly welcoming, nurturing, and talented musicians themselves. You could tell they genuinely loved working with kids and fostering a love of music. The camp facilities were top-notch as well, with great equipment and spaces for all the different activities. My son came home each day excited to tell us about all the new songs, instruments, and music skills he had learned that day. From singing to piano, drums, And violin. he was exposed to such a wide variety of instraments. The counselors made everything fun and interactive. But beyond just having a blast, I was so impressed with how much he actually learned and grew his musical abilities in just one week. Camp Jam truly sparked a passion - he's been begging for piano lessons and trumpets his new repertoire of camp songs constantly around the house! I can't say enough about what an amazing opportunity this was. The life-long appreciation and skills Camp Jam nurtures are invaluable. We've already signed up for multiple sessions this summer - it's an absolute must for any family! Highest possible recommendation!

It is not too far from home and very new and clean. I am guessing this camp is less than five years old but the construction and thought process behind the layout is wonderful. They have a huge slide that goes into the lake. They have a theatrical theater, new, clean, very nice cabins that have AC. They keep out fresh fruit as snacks, and my daughter being a vegetarian had no problem at all. The leaders of this camp base everything (from what I can tell) about developing your daughter into a strong independent person. They stress the great women in history and the impact they made on our lives. They lead your child into coming home full of confidence and pride in the things they accomplished with out your help. My daughter did one week last year but it will be two this year. This camp made a huge impression on her life and I am excited to see how she grows in the next session this summer. This is a very nice safe and protected place for you child. I often look at the picture on her wall hanging out in front of her cabin , messing around with her friends, having the time of her life. I'm so happy that Piper and Popsie (the leaders) have been part of our lives. Some of my favorite stories my girls have shared.... When my youngest daughter went for the first couple years, she had a "big sister" from the 9th grade leadership girls. The big sisters are supposed to grant wishes for the little sisters. Well, my daughter wanted to stop time. So, her "big" got everyone in the camp to agree that if my daughter yelled "Freeze!" in the dining hall, everyone would stop in place for five seconds. It was an empowering moment to know her wish could come true in such a creative way. Another year, my older daughter was struggling with some friendship issues. When the counselors ended up giving her the firelighter award - as someone who represented the spirit of camp - her entire self-perception changed in a very positive way that carried forward out of camp. This year, the middle school girls wrote everything they didn't like about themselves on post its, stuck them on their counselors, then ripped the post-its to shreds... so they knew they could destroy the power those things had over them. On top of all these amazing self-empowerment moments, camp is just fun! My girls come back learning new songs, happy about new friends, and exhausted from having so much activity for two solid weeks. And they even rave about the food. We heart CLC.

As a 100% outdoor activity event center located in a flood-prone area, you'd think they'd have a plan. I don't blame the weather on them, but I do expect that they figured out how to create the best experience in spite of it, hours and days before, rather than just shrug and go, 'oh well'. The weather forecast was VERY confident that heavy rain would be there 24+ hours before - all local channels, Space City Weather, Jeff Lindner - it was a SURE thing. For example, bring the food under the tent BEFORE the time we were supposed to be eating, instead of wasting 45 minutes trying to rig a 'path' so we don't get wet waiting in line, even though the biggest problem there was water pooling and mud. The restroom is about a football field away from the only covered area we could remain, so they should have rented a port-o-potty to be closer, or have those plastic sidings to their golf carts to assist people in the mud and rain. Props to the Sheriff's Deputy that seemed more customer service oriented than the staff - he was telling us what was going on and seemed like he wished he could do more. Meanwhile they said they had a lot of staff milling about because the outdoor activities were canceled - not sure why they weren't pushing all the standing water out of the tent, or passing out food, etc. The store bought cookies they brought out were an after-thought, because they canceled the pre-arranged Funnel Cakes but didn't tell anyone. There were so many things canceled or cut short that still could have been managed with some preparation - like more tent siding they could drop down to stop rain from coming under the smaller tent. The food was good, but there was so little of it! I don't think they served the amount that was paid for, we ran out of some things. I can tell they're used to handling young kids, because they were treating us grown adults like we only eat 2 small pieces of brisket, 3 sausage slices and 2 tablespoons of potato salad! I was excited about the petting zoo - I'm sure the animals were safe inside a barn away from the rain. Again, if they had their golf carts prepped for rain, they could have offered to drive us back and forth to see them. There's a lot of risk mitigation that needs to be learned for an event facility such as this - if your event is expecting rain, cancel or reschedule!

I was looking for a banquet room venue for my daughter's sweet 16 party in December. I reached out, and they confirmed that the date I was interested in was available. I was told that someone would get back to me in a few days with a quote price. I never heard back, and it's May. My husband brought up a good point thinking that there were probably a lot of big company Christmas parties in December, so my little party was probably not a priority booking during thst busy time. I get it, if that's the case. It's just not good to tell someone you will get back to them in a couple of days, then don't. It's May 3rd. Luckily, I found another place I like even more in Waller County to have her party.
