I was advised if my 10 year old was to remain in the building, that I would have to PAY THE FULL PRICE for him to be there. I assured the staff that he had no interest in playing, and that he was going to play video games on his tablet. They told me without paying for the 10 year old to sit on a chair, we would not be allowed in. Absolutelt ridiculous and not accommodating what so ever.

Where was this place when I was a kid!? Seriously though this place was so needed in the West End…read more This is a huge, very well-equipped indoor play space. This place is part theme park/part play place. I spent three hours with the kids and I still had to pull them out at the end when the place was closing and there were things we ran out of time to try. There is so much to do: slides, places to climb, crawl. jump, shoot each other with soft foam balls (?) basically all the activities kids love to do in the cold weather when it is hard to find a place for them. Parents of toddlers note: there is a separate area for toddlers so they don't get bowled over by bigger kids. For the parents, there is Wifi and about a dozen comfy chairs at the front where parents can watch over the play structure. Plus a cafe with hot drinks and foods tailored for the kiddos. I gave them five stars-- my first experience was that positive-- but a few things stuck out to me: the play structure is huge and it can be easy to lose sight of your kids. It would be helpful if they had video cameras set up and screen set up in the parent section so it was easier to keep an eye on your kids. Also, I get that having the monopoly on food is a money maker but it would be nice to allow people to bring their own; particularly since there didn't seem to be any gluten free items on the menu. I was also surprised that the air guns in the ball area are as loud as they are. I would be a bit wary of effects on hearing over long term use. And a finally, big one for me is that they need some kind of membership pricing options asap. They just opened and are obviously working out the kinks. And at $12.99 for 5+ years olds and $9.99 for toddlers the prices are higher, than any of the existing play places, but this place has it all and you could easily spend they day there and not get bored. There is no comparison! I know we will be living here until Spring.

I expect this is done to discourage people from actually seeking a refund, and seems like an incredibly outdated practice. It's what happens when you lose a lot of weight and actually come to realize you like doing crazy things like run marathons, complete triathlons and lift heavy stuff. As a newer member to CGC I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the set up. The cost is reasonable too at about $50/month for a year membership. I haven't taken any classes so I can't vouch for that portion of the gym but I do hang out upstairs in the cardio room quite a bit and so far so good. They tell me it's not too busy during the morning/day. As of yet I've never had to wait for a treadmill. When it is feeling a little "packed" I'll go run laps on the indoor track. It's a great way to get in some nice cross training in between some push ups or perfecting the pull-up. My favorite part about CGC is the pool(s). Olympic standard size and as of yet never too busy to not get a lane. Instead of chloride as standard chemical cleaner they use bromide (much gentler on the skin). Locker rooms (both wet and dry options) are spacious. Lockers themselves are big for that over stuffed gym bag. Showers are kind of funky but once you get the hang of them they're not too bad. And while I don't frequent Subway, it's very convenient to be able to grab a little nosh on the way out.

This place is so badass that I can't even begin to understand why they're not run off their feet…read morewith climbers every single day. Seriously. How aren't more people taking advantage of this?? Now I'll be upfront with you. I don't love The Exercise. I find it boring and typically don't like having to use my muscles for any reason, let alone sweating in public. So naturally I would have assumed that adding a harness and unflattering footwear into the mix would kill the experience before it even began, but no. NO! I looooove Ground Zero and, as it turns out, I looooove rock climbing (indoors). It's also stupid cheap ($12 for a full-day pass), so you don't have to break the bank to find out if you even like it. The owner has usually been the one on-site whenever I've visited and he totally fits the part. You can tell he must be pretty hardcore when he's not 'in the office' but he's able to make that enthusiasm work even when he has to deal with n00bs like me. He'll get you set up, teach you everything you need to know, make sure you're not going to plummet to your death because of your own stupidity, and then he leaves you to do your own thing. The big walls are a blast, the slanted ones make me question if my arms originally belonged to a six-year-old girl, and the bouldering sections are a great challenge if you can't cope with the heights. Important: choose who you come with wisely. They will be the ones holding your ropes. And staring starting at the awkward crotch-bunch that happens once you're harnessed up. So...there's that.

For example, last winter, I learned to ski. This summer, my goal was to learn how to rock climb. For my birthday, my boyfriend surprised me by taking me to Ground Zero, an indoor rock climbing gym. I was excited, but sceptical that I could do it, being an avid couch potato and all. Ground Zero had a really cool atmosphere, that's the best word to describe it. They had a lounge area with a lot of great reading material on climbing, you could even enjoy a coffee while you sit and read. Other than the lounge and the main desk the place is virtually empty, save for some crash mats. After we got suited up in our gear, which was minimal and easy to put on, we were given a crash course in climbing. The rundown was thorough, but short, so we could get to climbing as soon as possible. Naturally, I made my boyfriend go first. When it came to my turn, I was nervous, but hey, the walls don't look that high. Until you get about half way up, then you feel like you're halfway to the moon. I'd be lying if I said I didn't poop my pants a little. If you're not in the best shape ever, like me, climbing can be tough. It's sweaty and exhausting work. You hit your breaking point, where you think, I can't physically go any further. Or I can't reach, I can't do it. But you have the staff there and a partner to shout their support to you. When you take a chance, push yourself, reach out, grab that final hold and pull yourself up, it's like seeing the face of God. It's so exhilarating, you feel so proud that you were able to push yourself and make it. It's one of the most amazing feelings I've ever known, I felt like I could so anything. Whether you love rock climbing or you've never been, I recommend Ground Zero. It's a great workout, it's exciting, fun and there is a very helpful and supportive staff behind you the whole way.
