I signed up a group of high school seniors going off to college next year for a group lesson. My…read moremain goal was for them to learn some self defense. I stayed to watch the entire session and I was extremely impressed. Edwin really engaged the girls and made them think about their safety. He taught situational awareness and had them do several hours of hand to hand self defense moves. Most of these girls have never hit anything, so for them fight to protect themselves was very empowering. I learned many moves that my own self defense class didn't teach me. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting a refresher and all parents wanting to give their kids some knowledge on what to do if they are attacked. Edwin and Terry were great instructors and the girls were so pumped up leaving the studio. Money and time well spent!

I took my daughters to the Texas Defense Academy for a self defense class, I found out about them…read morethrough groupon and purchased one. This class was amazing. They have been in business a long time and do all kinds of classes, self defense, wrestling, a weapons class, children's classes. We learned so many valuable things in a short period of time. Everything we learned may save our life one day. I think everyone should take these classes. It's very important. And the Texas Defense Academy is very professional. They are kind and welcoming and make you feel comfortable, remember your name and care about each person and commit to help each person learn at their pace. It was a wonderful experience.

This places is a hidden oasis of brunch goodness…read more My mom has been badgering me for years to try CSFW's brunch and I finally decided to make a reservation for us to have brunch as a belated Mother's day treat. As mentioned in the other reviews, the cost is $16.95 pp. When they seat you, you get a choice of three different entree's (i chose the seafood cake with Orzo, my mom chose the grilled pork chop with polenta) along with fresh made bread, homemade fabulous strawberry lemon marmalade, and flavored butters. In addition to that, you have access to the various food stations. They have a salad and soup station, an omelet station, a pasta station, and a dessert station. They provide you with basic beverages such as coffee, iced tea, orange juice - but you can also BYOB so making your own mimosas are definitely an option. I could go on an on about how wonderful my meal and experience was - i really cant say enough but here's a short version: My seafood cake was heavenly. it consisted of crab, shrimp, and cod. it was mostly seafood and didn't require along of binders. I was seriously disappointed that it was gone so quickly. Keep in mind, your entree is more of a small plate, however with all the other goodies at the stations you'll definitely leave stuffed. The soup i got was a corn chowder that was excellent. Of course, you cant go wrong with an omelet! it was fluffy and perfectly cooked. I passed on the pasta station because i was getting too full and I didn't want to miss out on dessert. I loved how all of the staff was eager to talk about the food, process, etc. Their service was impeccable and made our experience very memorable. They even had a guy there playing the acoustic guitar. If you love food and love being around people who enjoy discussing ingredients and techniques this place is for you. Heck, even if you just want to eat and chill this place is for you! Make sure you call ahead for a reservation. Also: i would consider this place more kid-tolerant than kid-friendly.

Yum! Great brunch experience!…read more There are a half dozen (or so) stations set up including made-to-order omelets, pancakes, salads, soups, pasta & desserts. You also get to order from a menu of seasonal entrees. All delicious. Brunch includes tea, coffee & juice for $16.95 pp. I dined with a group of girls and brought in a cooler with champagne & grapefruit juice, which I recommend doing. Service was excellent.

Cheeky Monkey is a great spot for kids of all ages and is perfectly located for an easy outing…read more When you arrive, you choose either a 1- or 2-hour play session and get a wristband that's announced over the speaker when your time is up. They're actually pretty generous with the timing--honestly, before the hour is up I'm usually ready for my color to be called! Right now I'm mostly in the toddler area, which has plenty to keep little ones busy and entertained. That said, the facility could definitely use some updates. A number of the wall activities were out of order, and the toys and play areas could benefit from a deeper, more frequent cleaning. They do have a small kitchen offering pizza, fries, burgers, and more. The food is decent--nothing amazing--but it gets the job done. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait. Overall, the staff is friendly, the concept is great, and it's an excellent place to let your kids burn off some serious energy. With a little upkeep, this place could easily be top-tier. Definitely recommend.

With the Texas heat, it's almost intolerable to be outdoors running around a covered playground…read more Cheeky Monkeys is a great alternative in that it is indoors. Think big slides, trampoline, soft play climbing obstacles, and ball pits. They have a designated area for toddlers 4 years and younger. It's a good idea for parents to still supervise since older kids tend to sneak into the area. For those who need a break from running around, there's a spot with books, puzzles/games, building blocks, grocery shopping, train set, etc. No outside food or beverages allowed. They have a cafe to purchase food with plenty of seats available to rest and/or eat. I like that they have multiple family friendly restrooms that are kept relatively clean. Make sure you bring grippy socks for the kiddos. Adults also need socks to run around the play area. I would say Cheeky Monkeys is pretty pricey compared to other indoor play places. They charge on an hourly basis unlike other locations that include unlimited play for the day without time restriction. Look out for their holiday specials, which typically includes a discount for 2 hours of play along with special activities (e.g. arts/craft and games). You can also book birthday parties here. On party days, it can get pretty loud and busy.
