Wow!!! It now serves THE best vegan fish, chips, mushy peas with a delicious vegan home made…read moretartare sauce. Forget banana blossoms fake fish... the owner has created her own special recipe for the ' fish' which is the best I have ever tasted, plus the batter is made to order and is so crispy. The The texture is lovely and white n flaky too. Chips amazing and the vegan tartare sauce I could eat a jar of on my own!! Huge portions and I can definitely recommend it. You can have a table at the back, or sit by the windows and watch the world go by, which is slightly cheaper and more enjoyable. I will be going there at least once a week for my vegan treat. They also do vegan pies with gravy which will be my next discovery

The Kingfisher has AMAZING reviews for their extensive vegan menu (see photo) on other sites and during our travels we made sure to make the trek from our friend's place in Plumstead to try it out. We weren't disappointed--the owner was so welcoming and sweet and we didn't have to take her up on her satisfaction-guaranteed-or-money-back offer. She told us how she developed the recipe for the vegan fish herself, despite the shop being a traditional fish and chips place for decades prior to expanding its vegan offerings. It was lovely to have great tasting and generously portioned food made in-house by a chef who takes such pride in her food. We weren't able to make it back to the restaurant a second time during our visit, but until we return to London we'll be recommending it to anyone in the area!

THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN LONDON!!!…read more I grew up down the road from this place and we've been getting our fish'n'chip fix from there ever since I was a toddler. From as far back as I can remember, it's been owned by the same family - a lovely husband and wife team who have a very thick accent which I still haven't been able to place. These guys are terrific! Whenever my dad took me in there, I'd ask for my usual battered sausage and the lady would always call out to her husband who was wrapping and bagging the food, "And a battered sausage for the baby!" In fact, I was referred to as 'the baby' until I was about 18! For some reason they always call my dad Chris as well...his name is John! Anyway, if you go to Wick Fisheries you're always going to be welcomed with a big smile and fast service! The place seems to be stuck in the most delightful time warp. All the original '60s fixtures and fittings are still there, right down to the most ancient cash register you've ever seen in your life (unless of course you were alive any time prior to 1970...I'm only 26 myself!) The food doesn't disappoint, either! Lovely, hot, chunky chips in MASSIVE portions drenched in vinegar, mmmmm! As well as top quality fish, pies, saveloy and battered sausage....for the baby.

When in London…read more... Anytime I visit the UK, one of my must haves is good old fashioned fish and chips. While at my hotel, I searched my trusty Yelp which brought me to Hoxton Fish House. I didn't have to look at the menu at the counter - I simply said "fish and chips" please. I took a seat outside and waited for my delectables to arrive. The time seemed like plank/burpee minutes, but in reality the food came out relatively quick. When I took my first bite / it was mission accomplished. Each bite was all I wanted and more. The fish and chips were fabulous - I ended up unable to finish due to the size of the meal. The atmosphere was pretty laid back and sitting outside was somewhat relaxing. If you're anywhere in the area, I highly recommend this place!

On our first night we…read morefound that Hoxton Fish House was rather close to where we were staying, which made it a short walk to get to and from. The interior is quaint, very quiet but the staff was friendly. I ordered the tradition Fried Cod with a side of chips. Although it didn't come in a newspaper like my friend and I were told that the best fish and chips came in. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! You may be thinking...what about the tartar? Well, I'm here to tell you that you also get a side of tartar. Order two if you can, it did just the trick to pair along with the fish. The cod was fresh, as well as the chips. Highly recommend that you stop by if you find yourself in the Hoxton neighborhood.
