Wonderful service, wonderful food. I'm a local and someone in my family is always eating here at least once a week. Recommend the burrito suizo, torta de asada, any type of taco, and my personal fav the verde enchilada suizo. YUM! read more

Best chilaquiles ever!!! They're super cheap too. $6 for a large plate of chilaquiles, rice, beans, and a small side salad. What more can you ask for? I've tried other dishes but I normally only go for the chilaquiles verdes read more

Pretty good place for tacos. I stopped in one night after work and I was pretty surprised with the food and service. Worth making a stop if you are in the area, and in the mood for tacos. read more

I love Cocula. It was my first Mexican restaurant experience when I came for a job interview down the street. This is where I fell in love with Chilaquiles and several restaurants later, they're still my favorite Chilaquiles...with salsa verde, not red. Also, great margs, and 1.49 for a big ass coffee with cream and sugar in the mornings. They use the same styrofoam cup for coffee as they do for the fountain drinks. The waitresses are super sweet and the manager (I think) is very nice. You can definitely have a super hearty meal there for under 10. read more

This is one of the probably 15 Mexican restaurants within a 3-block radius of my apt & it is definitely my favorite. Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican food, friendly staff, and large, cozy, clean, welcoming environment. Easy 5 stars. Open till midnight or 1! read more

I love the ojo de amojo I believe it's called but they always get something wrong when my husband and I go there. Either they don't never check on us or they're missing something in our food. Make sure they get your order right! read more

Saw this place while walking from the California pink line station to the Criminal Courts builidng for jury duty, came back on the lunch break and glad I did. Inexpensive but very nice food, with sort of a west-coast style. Ingredients very fresh; the salad you get on the side of the dinner plates is more elaborate than at most Mexican places (cucumber & avacado in addition to lettuce & tomato). I had the enchiladas suizas, and the cheese, sauce, and ground beef-potato mix was everything I was looking for. Chips great and homemade, salsa pretty good. I got a free cup of chicken soup with my chips, so that's bonus. Service was cheerful and incredibly fast. All around a good experience. And with the fast service I was done in plenty of time to hike back to court. read more

Wow !! First time here today. The food was delicious! ! Went with great coworkers./ friends..I'll be back with my gamily... Cocula Restaurant - Mmmmmmm good!! - Mexican Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

It's a nice restaurant when you walk in. The service is not all there. They have good carne asada for tacos and tortas, but their big platters are not that great. read more

It was such a rip off I ordered a michelada and I didn't even taste the beer it was all tomato. I told my server about the issue, she immediately had an attitude about me even suggesting my full beer wasn't poured in. She said it was the ice even with the ice that means I would have beer left over which should of been left at my table, no left over beer was left at my table. I even ordered 2 extra beers to compliment my miche and the owner still had a bad attitude about me even bringing up the issue. I will never step foot in there again!!! Super bad service! I left all my beer there. Not even going to bother. read more

I come here on Wednesdays for the 5.99$ frozen margarita special. They usually taste like they have no alcohol in them so I order another shot of tequila on the side, so I know the alcohol is going into my drink. Today is Friday and I came for frozen margaritas. I asked the waitress how much they'd be. The menu said 11.95$. The waitress said 13.95$. I asked how many shots are in the drink. She said two. I said to please make the drink virgin and bring me the two shots, because for 14$, I want two shots of tequila for sure. She said it's premade and if it's not strong enough, she'll add some more. I said "no", " bring me what I asked". And she did. I got the frozen mango margarita with 2 shots of tequila on the side 3 times. She informed me after my second one that " next time you come and order like this we will charge you golden, which is 15.95$". I then ordered a third and she said "we will charge you golden". I said " I believe you were referring to the next time I come here. ". So she brought the third and final drink with 2 shots on the side. I get the receipt. I thought it was nice that she only charged 11.95$ for each drink (!!!) which is still really really expensive. But then, they charged me 2$ for their chips and salsa, which I've never gotten charged for. So, they suck. And I feel like I arm wrestled all afternoon over pricing of a drink, which in all my years I've never experienced. I left no tip. I would have tipped if they didn't charge me for their complimentary chips. I want to say I won't go back but I will. They'll probably do something vile to my drinks because of this review. read more

This is a great inexpensive Mexican restaurant. its very casual but there is still care taken in the decor. the food is great. large portions, low cost and the best mole in chicago (the enchiladas mexicana feature the mole sauce). they have lovely milkshakes (each with a dash of cinnamin spice) and the guacamole is always fresh just made. a great staple restaurant in the neighborhood. read more

Horchatta!! Best I have had in a while. Order almost anything here and it will be good. Like the food love the atmosphere with friendly waitresses. Tortas can be hit or miss though. Some days the bread is fresh, and others it's ok. Also try the Milanesa torta( good breading). read more

I just had THE BEST shrimp cocktail I've ever had in my life. Their whole menu looked amazing. I definitely recommend eating here if you are in the mood for good Mexican cuisine! read more

I love their burritos, and they often cut mine without me having to ask, and I can never be mad if they don't cause I never actually ask. Thanks for being tasty. read more

Baby.... their food is so so good! I can't believe I've waited so long to eat here! I ordered carry-out and it didn't take long at all for our food. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and OMG they were delicioso! So much flavor and so well prepared. My BF got the chicken burrito and he said it was one of the best he's ever had. The beans were very good and I got a slice of strawberry cheesecake! Very thick and yummy! I will definately be back and will dine in for sure!! read more

The food was great all except my enchiladas suizas. I ordered a veggie sope & it was fulfilling. The large beverages are huge too. Overall, it was good Mexican food but just don't order the enchiladas suizas read more

Cocula's is an authentic Mexican restaurant...their food is pretty good...service is decent...I honestly prefer the other location in Cicero...to me it has better tasting food...same name..I'm guessing same owner...but obviously different chef lol read more

The food is good. Yes! But not worth it. The old man at the counter is rude & has horrible customer service. He changes prices and talks to you however he wants. I've been there 3 times & i get the same thing every time. So i was just there & the price was almost $5 more than usual & i asked him why. He said "oh last time i didn't charger you for your drink" i looked at him & he said i shouldn't be talking about the price from last time or he's gonna charge me for that drink. Yeah, the drink I thought i had i already paid for. Never going there again read more

Suuuuper close to one of my soccer fields, so stopping by here for a post-game margarita was a no-brainer. These guys have huge portions and really stout drinks. Salsa and guacamole are much better than expected for the price, and the entrees we tried were delicious. Recommended. read more

Stopped in because we couldn't resist the name (insert juvenile snicker here). We pulled into the private lot (nice) and walked in to find the location really nice, clean, and friendly. I went to wash my hands and came back to be happily surprised not only by the usual basket of tortilla chips and salsa that you'd expect, but also a cup of a really nice chicken and vegetable soup and a big bowl of limes. The waitress that we had was extremely friendly. Audrey and I made the effort (and it is an effort) to order/converse in Spanish and she actually happily went along with us. I've noticed in many establishments staff will just answer you in English even if you make the effort to speak in Spanish, so it was nice to actually get the chance to dust off the seldom-used language skills. Aside from nice wait staff, the food itself proved to be excellent. I had a pork stew that almost tasted like it had a mole, and Audrey T. had some kind of chicken dinner that looked awesome (and disappeared as quickly as mine did). Margaritas at Cocula were quite strong, but not in a sip-and-gag kind of way; I'm sure a pitcher would have put us out of commission for quite a while, but we had things to do. I would definitely recommend hitting this place up with a small group of friends that enjoy good food and strong drinks. I'm putting the price as moderate because I'm including the drinks, which you really shouldn't miss out on; otherwise it's a pretty cheap, large meal. read more

I'm not a huge fan of Mexican (then why do I live in my hood?) b/c well, there's not a whole lot I can eat. However, what I could eat was delish at Cocula. and that's tacos. good tacos with good veggies and avocado. good tortillas and salsa. fab salsa, actually. i'm a bit worried about the beans but I gave them benefit of doubt. if you are vegan, (and I am), and speak Spanish, better to ask to make sure it's sans lard. I'd go here again with friends... read more

This is where you want to go for Margarita night. Great food, huge menu, good drinks. Great for groups or date night.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants which features just about everything you can find on a Mexican menu. Everything tastes good!

Great food and fair prices! They also have a parking lot that is monitory by an attendant.

the food sucks it tastes like trash it is the worst thing i have ever tasted in my life

Wife: Honey it's your turn to cook. Me: man, I had a hard day and can't think to cook toast. Wife: then what do you suggest? Me: Um...Cocula. Wife: Great. I'll get a margarita and you can watch the telenovelas on the flat screens. Me: Deal. read more

Delicious authentic Mexican food. My party was immediately seated and served. We had nachos, quesadillas, tacos, seafood, enchiladas, burritos, tortas, quacamole, rice, two types of beans, frozen lemonade and margaritas. Almost everything was great. The red salsa was a bit spicy so we ordered pico de gallo which was still too spicy. Would definitely go again! read more

Please I am saving your time not to come to this location. My tacos were very blend no flavor whatsoever I had to trench it with salsa. My sister enchilada was hard as a rock . Also my sister and I got mixed drinks a piña colada and mines a paloma. Her drink had no flavor and no liquor. My drink was light with liquor which ok fine. I told my sister she should have the waitress and the bartender (FYI I think she's the owner) to ask the waitress if it's a virgen drink or taste it because trust me this drink did not have no liquor. The waitress kindly took it back and guess what that drink once again was not a regular piña colada you would order at another restaurant. Ok, I feel as if the owner didn't care on satisfactory. So I decided to play music with Touch tunes, once I played the first song I couldn't hear the music at all. I asked the waitress if she can put the volume up she said sure ok. Guess what volume went from a 2 to 5. Finally I come to my sense this place is not worth my time and owners don't care about a customer coming back. 15 minutes later the waitress comes back to give an explanation why the music wasn't loud enough. I told the waitress I been here a couple of times so it's strange that's now a problem. I told her I'm sure if other customers had the same problem they sure wouldn't like it. I was not going to leave a tip but felt bad not tipping a hard working person who was "trying to provide service". So as we walked towards the exit I was going to hand the waitress her tip. Come to find out she had the remote control in her hand and guess what raised the volume up on the juke box. You know what I kept my nice money in my pocket where it's deserves to be in. read more

Great neighborhood place. I had my fortieth birthday celebration there. Mariachis, margaritas, comidas buenas all around. I always feel welcome there. The waitstaff is particularly gracious. I can't eat a lot of Mexican dishes--I'm allergic to tomatoes and peppers--but they accommodate me well. read more

The food is good but what really irritates me, is that they don't do free refills on their fountain drinks cmon, that's just being cheap. As long as they keep up their cheapness on the refills i won't be back. read more

Just like in the pictures shown, there are huge amounts of cheese thrown all over the food!!! Just melting with cheese!!! If you're not a fan of cheese all over your tacos, make sure you let the server know. Our server was really nice , not much interaction just takes the order :) . Prices were decent, 11.95 for a combination plate. I had the enchilada , tostada and steak taco . It came with rice and beans .. The rice was very flavorful not salty or greasy and had the frozen vegetables in it and the beans weren't watered down and didn't taste like it came from a can . What I didn't like was even though i received a nice portion of food, it looked like slop thrown on the plate. The steak taco didn't have any flavor in it but dripped out with the grease and it was served on a hard shell with shredded cheese tomato and lettuce . The enchiladas sauce had a basic flavor wasn't very spicy or authentic , but for only having one, I had to search for it underneath the beans , sauce and cheese that was thrown all over the place.. I had the chicken tostada , it had sour cream , more beans, lettuce ,tomato and avocado slice, shredded cheese! .... I guess to sum it up, the flavor of the food had Taco Bell feeling. But I would come back. read more

Came for the first time and I all I have to say is that the food we ordered was really good. Would definately come back to try other items.

I ordered for pick-up after work. So once I get there over 30min ago my food was still not ready. So I waited. When I saw the guy coming out with my order (looked like he was a manager or something) I saw him reach into my bag and get one of my frenchfries and eat it. So then I get home and my torta that I ordered wasn't even the type I ordered. Plus I did not appreciate how everyone was looking at me like I was about to rob the place or something and all giving me attitudes. read more

We stopped by for dinner and we got chips and salsa(to much cumin),and no pickled jalapeño.I order the cancun combination and my husband the caldo de res. My dinner was overpowered by cumin spice and the caldo no flavor just water. The only thing that was good were the beans and rice. The tortillas are not handmade like almost all authentic Mexican restaurants. The horchata water was really good for $2.50 we got a large mug, but in all we won't stop here no more. read more
