It was a doughy, light consistency made of Gruyère cheese, Parmesan, white truffle oil and it came with a small side garden salad. This dish is an absolute must if you're visiting La Goulue for the first time. We also ordered a cheese board which came with about 5 different cheeses, nuts, apples, purple grapes, and crunchy warm bread. We opted for version without salami. James recommended us to order a steak item that was NOT included on the normal menu. He told us it's recommended to order as medium rare. It came with string beans, grilled onions on top and potatoes au gratin. The food was so fresh and delicious!!! We ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert which was perfect as it was pretty light. I questioned the early closing, as I had seen the midnight closing time, and he said that they were closing early that night. This experience was quite unexpected, bazaar, and disappointing as I've never encountered such a situation in any restaurant in this area. They really put us out before closing before we could finish our drinks. I would recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit as walking in for drinks late in the evening may lead to a similar experience.

The frenetti pasta came with tomato gravy, fresh tomatoes, Parmigiana Reggiano and fresh burrata. I ordered gluten-free pasta. It was one of the best gluten-free pastas I ever had, cooked perfectly al dente. Unfortunately the gravy was simple and well made, yet was too much in proportion and tasted too salty to me. It was hard to eat more than a few bites. The server and management handled it with aplomb. The flourless al limone cake was the best gluten-free lemon cake ever. It tasted almost like semolina cake and almond cake hybrid.
