Just had an excellent meal at this South Indian restaurant.
Highlights were the Cauli 65 starter and the Chicken Chettinad main. Fresh curry leaves in the dishes were tender and delicious. All had great flavor and the right amount of heat/spiciness. There were a few other tables eating when we arrived and I overheard all of them talking about how tasty their meals were. Portion sizes were quite generous.
Apparently, this place just opened 7 months ago. It wasn't on Yelp (and when good food abounds, we stay away from places we haven't heard are one of the good ones), so we were headed from our guest house to another restaurant within the city walls and much farther away.
But it was raining and we missed our bus and then...this place appeared. Initially, we thought we would try it just for convenience, but we were super impressed with the food and service and are so glad we took a chance on it.
Prices were reasonable (28 pounds for two mains, two starters, a couple sides, and two drinks--mango lassi and diet coke). Service was great. Two guys shared the duty of serving us. Both were very nice, and Rob (the one of the two who's name we got) was incredibly helpful and enthusiastic about the place--very pleasant. The place was very clean and tidy, bathrooms as well.
I highly recommend this place. My dining companion has eaten quite a bit of Indian food of all kinds--in the UK and elsewhere--and says this was up there with her all-time favorites. read more
