When I walk in I have to resist the urge to start chewing at the walls just to see whether this shop is actually made of chocolate. So, it is a relatively small premise, but simply filled to the brim. Mainly this shop sells individual chocolates; cream filled, praline, nougat, dusted, dark and many more. They also sell a section of Thortons chocolates as well. Because I came in near Christmas there was plenty of Christmas gifts, such as chocolate Santa's and snowmen. I'm sure Easter is just as well represented. This is also a prefect place to pick up gifts. There are walls of chocolate gift boxes, ranging in size from a few chocs to around a hundred. We ordered a few coffee drinks, which were so delicious, but the kids' hot chocolate was the best. It's more of a drinking chocolate, thick and rich but not too sweet. It's in a great location, right on the esplanade and directly across from the bus and train stations. Cute interior and very clean. Friendly staff. We had come off the hovercraft from Southsea, crossed over the railway foot bridge onto the esplanade and we popped in here for cappuccinos. We bought some of their hand and home made chocolates to have with the cappuccinos and the coffee and chocolates were both exceptionally good. After several hours touring this fabulous island, that claims signs of habitation as far back as 350,000 years ago, a steam railway, with specialist garlic growing farms, a distillery that produces 57 proof gin and has an abbey of Benedictine monks we were ready for more great coffees. We also decided to buy a box of 24 chocolates (£25) and a half pound of organic Columbian ground coffee. We were already weighed down with far too many bottles of strong gin, various beers and a range of goodies from the wonderful garlic farm. As the lady boxed the delectable chocolates I noticed chocolate coated figs so in went some figs too. We had a great day. In fact we do this isle a disservice as we should go for a week.

What Montezuma offers, uniquely, is some very out-there flavours: lots of lime and chili and that kind of thing. Not my cup of tea, but if you like your chocolate with a bit of added zing, this is the place to go. Where a lot of of chocolate shops in Brighton go for the over-the-top, chocolate heaven approach, Montezuma's looks far more professional than most of it's counterparts, with plenty of nicely wrapped packages of chocolate. It isn't actually very enticing to look at: certainly nothing on Choccywoccydoodah's incredible cake display over the road. It's all very nice, just a bit muted in comparison to some of the more out-there places around town. Still, if you like your chocolate flavoured and a bit more... South American, Montezuma's may be for you!

It all ended up in the bin! Total waste! I emailed for a refund and I can't see that happening. Bad customer service and bad quality overpriced chocolates. I am so disappointed with the service I have received from them. If this review stops one person from wasting money like I did then I am happy. I would say buy Cadburys much cheaper and without the disappointment!
