Having researched the area near my hotel, this was on the hit list. Unfortunately it was not until the last night after a hefty meal I actually got to sample this place.
Walking up with a belly full of food I spied upon quite a multitude of people sat out side. Inside this place was true to its name. A cockpit indeed. In front lay a tiny bar crammed with odd bottles, down a ledge lay the bottom of bar full, with just four people. Up another steep staircase lay three tables full .. surrendering we backed out to bump into a barman.
He spoke no English but pressed us to head upstairs, as one table had been vacated. Sheepishly we climbed up to discover intimate couple sharing gooey cheese.
Looking around I loved how every inch of wall was covered in vintage posters. By the time I gawped at one wall a menu was supplied. I could not believe the many different types of gin they had! Possibly twenty or more. Unfortunately I was feeling unwell and just chose a daquiri at €5 and my partner a beer
Hoping for something sweet , I was not disappointed but intrigued. It was refreshing and citrusey ..in the end my partner had to help me finish my drink.
Overall a very quirky bar where all the locals come so get here early as there is not a lot of space. The staff are very friendly and offer great value for money cocktails and variety of gin :) read more
