After visiting Nani's Gelato in Port Credit, I headed back to my car. I passed by this COBS Bread. I have a weakness for bakeries and headed straight into this store.
A nice woman greeted me. She immediately asked what I'd like.
If I were brand new to COBS Bread, I may have been a bit irritated with this question, barely in the store for five seconds. However, it wasn't my first rodeo and my go-to baked items are danish pastries.
I like the summer danish varieties. The problem was deciding what I wanted, as there were three different flavours to choose from!
I got these items:
- Raspberry and custard danish
- Peach mango danish
The raspberry and custard danish is year-round. Any danish with peach is seasonal.
I got my Breadcrumbs QR code scanned. I learned when I got home that I had earned enough Breadcrumbs to get a $5 voucher to spend on my next purchase. Yay!
I will say that it took me quite some time to get to 200 Breadcrumbs. I visit COBS Bread in spurts. I look forward to splurging soon!
The woman put my pastries in a box. It was great. In the past, I got them in a paper bag by default, which wasn't the best setup. The danish filling would adhere to the top of the bag. I also had to peel the danish between the bag and the danish underneath it. It was messy.
I had the raspberry and custard danish first. It's my favourite. I love the whole raspberries nestled in yummy custard, with delicious pastry holding everything together. It's consistent and so good.
It was my first time having the peach mango danish. It didn't have any custard. Rather, it had peach mango sauce from cooking down the fruit.
I forgot to take a photo of this pastry alone, without any bites. Oops!
I enjoyed it. If you don't like custard danish pastries, you'd probably love this one. It was packed full of cubed mango and peach. It was light and naturally sweet. The pastry was perfect.
Before I left, the woman let me know that there were samples. I forgot that COBS Bread is generous when it comes to samples.
I enjoyed samples of the cinnamon scone and meatza pizza croissant. They were tasty. I may have to get them next time.
I loved my visit. I'll be back when I'm in Port Credit again.
