A lot of the ruins aren't accessible and can only be viewed from behind metal fencing. Drove all the way around building to the C building in the parking lot that was designated to the restaurant as we hadn't walked in the ball game yet.(which was super far)... started walking towards the gate that was open and a security guard stops to tell us we have to walk all the way around to the front to go in. (He was on a cart and didn't offer to drive us just flat out said no). We asked if we could sneak by him and still said no... there wasn't a sole in sight. (He could've physically escorted us but instead, stuck on the word "no" to walk around the full building). Hospitality runs in every industry. There are families who are willing to spend money ONSITE if you could get your signage together for clear communication for the people who would spend dollars and also, for some better customer service. It's not my fault you have poor signage. But when you have people willing to spend, and not ONE customer around... you should welcome them. That's how business works... Instead, he drove over to the baseball field where I saw him again. Sitting and looking at his phone... I hope that works out well for him.... I would be pissed if one of my employees got paid to sit on their phone and turn business away. Mr. Security Guard... your wages are paid by people who spend at your facilities. Considering I spend a fortune on baseball and also spend a fortune with my cheerleading company that comes to compete at this facility, I think you should go educate yourself on treating people well. (especially when it's SO hot outside)... a little kindness goes a long way. Also, if you want to "follow rules"... ask your supervisor if scrolling is a part of the job title. As for me, I will better prepare myself this weekend (as I have to be here for 3 more days) so I don't have to spend $1 of my hard earned money there.

Pulte Parkside is part of a master planned community. The other part of it is Sun City at Anthem,…read morewhich is a 55+ community. Both Pulte Parkside and Sun City have their own community centers respectively. Each community center includes pools, gyms, tennis courts, basketball courts and on and on. The Parkside community center has an indoor climbing rock wall and a separate outside swimming area for children, including a water volleyball court, and extensive waterpark style pool slides. There are multiple soccer fields, dog parks, softball fields, walking and biking trails, an elementary school within the community and even a small church. Frequent activities such as Wine and Dine events, Murder Mystery nights and pot lucks are held in the community center, and we often have Arts in the Park events and concerts. There is a full 18 course golf course with a golf clubhouse that serves food (which needs some work) and has a full bar. There are multiple home plans available, with prices running from the high 100's to the mid 200's. New neighborhoods are currently under construction and plenty of spec homes are available if you don't want to wait to have one built. I have lived here since 2016 and honestly I am surprised at how well the homes have maintained and even grown in resale value during that time. There is a bit of turnover, which I suspect is due to people buying out here and then deciding it's not for them. There are also few drawbacks to living out here. Namely, as I just mentioned, living out here. This place is about 20 miles from Mesa, and rush hour can be a pain. With all the growth up along Hunt highway and Ellsworth and up into Queen Creek I don't see the traffic situation improving anytime in the near future. The positives however include Cox high speed internet being available, as well as a nearby Safeway, McDonalds, Subway and a decent hospital within a 5 minute drive. So we are not entirely uncivilized. The main thing is that all of these amenities are just a sampling of what this place offers, and most importantly of all, the houses out here are well built and Pulte does an amazing job with them, but because they bought the land cheap years ago the houses are also cheap to buy. My house would have cost me about 100K more than I paid for it in Phoenix and it wouldn't have come with any of the surrounding amenities. I paid around 230K for a 2,500 square foot home, with four bedrooms, a three car garage and a ton of upgrades. You just won't get that in Phoenix. Fortunately the wife and I work from home, and we don't mind living out here. If you can swing it, this is the place for you. If you are a night life person who enjoys hanging out in Tempe with your friends on a Friday night than maybe not so much. For the first three weeks we lived out here the wife and I sat on the patio every night and every night she just said over and over, "I can't believe how quiet it is." It was 3 months before I heard my first siren. I used to live in Glendale, and I couldn't go three hours without hearing one there, so this is a huge difference and we couldn't be happier with our decision!

So, just like I reviewed all the Spring Training stadiums, I've slowly been adding all the amateur fields to the Yelp! archives too. The Red Mountain Softball (and baseball too) Complex is on the other side of the world from where I live. But just like Gene Autry which is nearby, I actually enjoy making the drive to visit these fields. I don't know how old it is, but the facilities and the park are very well maintained. There are smaller softball fields and larger baseball fields (with their turf infields) so this complex has something to offer everyone. Plus it's easily accessed off the 202 Loop. Oh, and the surrounding area is pretty nice. If you're familiar with the area, you'll understand where the name "Red Mountain" comes from. There is plenty of parking which is well dispersed and there are trees. Sounds weird, but not all trees in parking lots cast shade on the parking spaces. You can find a shady spot almost anywhere in this lot. I recall visiting these fields once before, a few years back. Now my son plays on the big fields. While I can't recall using the restrooms, I know the snack bar had some decent food and it was reasonable. All in all, these fields are as nice as Pioneer in the west valley, and similar to Gene Autry, just larger. And the sunset (see photos) at the end of the weekend was gorgeous! Nicely done Mesa. In terms of sports complexes, you're two for two! Which is better than some of my son's teammates at bat. Did I mention the sunset?
