So let me just tell you how absolutely unhinged my martial arts journey has been.
I joined Cobra Kai back when Sensei Johnny Lawrence had just re-opened the dojo, like, only a couple weeks in. There were barely any students, just some rusty equipment, a questionable snack stash, and a lot of weird energy, but I was ready. I had a fire in me and a bully named Kyler who needed to chill. I wasn't about to keep getting disrespected in the halls like this was a Netflix drama. I was ready to strike back.
Sensei Johnny taught me how to be confident, strong, and totally okay with accidentally kicking someone through drywall. He was the best, even if he thought Wi-Fi was a type of sushi. But then...
KREESE.
That man showed up like a jump scare. He looked like he slept in a war bunker and drank pure regret for breakfast. He turned Cobra Kai into some kind of military camp. One time I saw him screaming at a 14-year-old for blinking too slow. And don't get me started on what was in that metal thermos, probably regret, rage, and motor oil.
So when Sensei Johnny left, I LEFT TOO.
And thus, EAGLE FANG was born.
Sure, the name made zero scientific sense (eagles don't have fangs, Johnny), but we were LOYAL. We were FIERCE. We trained in parks and yelled our battle cries while people walked their dogs nearby. It was majestic.
Then Sam and Miguel invited us to this "party" and I was like "cool, chips and music." But no. It was a sneaky dojo merger scheme. Classic.
Next thing I know, Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do were joining forces. At first I was like "no way am I doing kata under a bonsai tree," but then... it actually worked. Balance + aggression = power. Together, we were a whole unit.
And we needed to be, because Terry Silver slithered into the picture. The man's like a haunted scarecrow with money. He ruined EVERYTHING. He made Cobra Kai more intense, more brutal, and somehow more annoying. Even Robby joined. And that one hurt.
Robby and I? We used to be friends. But then he started hanging out with some thugs, and I had to distance myself for my own sanity.
Once I found out he was Johnny's son, it was like, wow, that explains so much. They both had the same dramatic stare and unresolved issues. But you know what? I'm really glad they made up. Johnny and Robby finally got close again, like actual father-son bonding, minus all the flying kicks. And Robby and I became friends again too. It felt... good. Like we were all finally on the same page.
For a while, everything was actually okay.
We trained, we laughed, we learned life lessons through punching.
But still... we only ever won ONE All Valley.
The other one went to Tori, and I swear that win was sketchy. I don't fully remember, but there was definitely some cheating or something. And I know Kreese or Silver were behind it somehow. Like, c'mon. Tori's tough, but let's be real.
And Sakai Tekka... oof.
Quan's death hit hard. Was he morally questionable? Sure. But he had personality. He was chaotic. He had the energy of a firecracker in a tornado. I respected it. RIP, Quan. You were messy, but you were ours.
Since then, Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do have been kind of quiet. Everything's a little calmer now.
And best of all?
Cobra Kai is finally gone.
Final thoughts?
Wouldn't trade this journey for anything.
Would I recommend Cobra Kai? No. Unless you like being yelled at by angry grandpas in leather jackets.
But Eagle Fang? Life-changing.
10/10 would scream in a forest again.
