GREAT THINGS START FROM SMALL BEGINNINGS! Very grateful to have found this place! Just looking for an activity for my energetic toddler who was at that time just turned 3. Distance wise from home was at first my consideration but you best believe, this place far exceeds my expectations. From the Trial/Introductory Class, best experience! Staff are all amazing. Ms. Tanya and Ms. Marlet at front desk - superb customer service and best cheerleaders! First encounter with Mr. Manuk. Great! Very welcoming! In my heart i knew that i don't need to search and do another trial class elsewhere. Mr. Manuk has this undeniable charm with kids. I genuinely appreciate the time, patience, and energy invested in helping, my son, Datu learn and grow. Our three year old is in the Tiny Tigers program. Master Manuk is AMAZING with the kids. He perfectly walks a fine line between being stern/demanding and being a lovable teddy bear. He brings the best out of all the kids. read more

I'm the typical LA mom who does too much. Before my babies could even hold their heads up, I had them enrolled in music and then gymnastics, ballet, jazz, music, ukulele, art -- even karate at a different studio. And at all of them, kids were led through the motions and had fun but they were not really challenged. This place is different. Here, kids are expected to focus, to work through frustration, and to build real discipline -- not just participate. They're not just entertained; they're expected to grow from the inside out. Master Manuk and Mr. David are firm but encouraging. Some places instructors take misbehavior personally or let their own ego get in the way. It's not like that here. Their focus is on building character, not control. In a full class of five-year-olds, I watched my girl struggle with a simple two-footed jump. She was frustrated because it should have been easy -- jump off and land on two feet -- but she couldn't help herself from hopping one foot at a time. It was so small, so basic -- everyone else could do it and she wasn't getting it and that's exactly why it frustrated her. She tried to skip it, tried to hide behind others when they did it, even tried to strategically time snail-speed bathroom breaks to try to skip the whole thing altogether. Master Manuk noticed. Every time. And without embarrassing her, without calling her out or making a scene, he stayed firm. He pushed her - not to break her, but to get her to believe in herself. She was visibly frustrated but he remained steady and refused to lower the expectation he knew she could meet. That kind of attention from an instructor in a full class -- that refusal to overlook the small struggles when it's easier just to move onto the next thing -- is rare. And it's the difference between a place where kids learn a few skills and a place where they build resilience. It's not cheap. As a single parent, I've had to move things around to make it work. But I do -- because this place is helping my kids grow. They're learning confidence, discipline, and pride they can carry with them and it's a serious, lasting foundation, not just another kid's activity. Lastly, I want to add that we've only been to the Glendale location, when I'm out with the kids before/after a class and they are in their uniform, random people come up to me and say they went to the same karate school when they were kids -- and they speak about it fondly. read more

We started at the Glendale center in September with our eldest as a white belt and our younger one as a Tiny Tiger. Our older son (6 years old) immediately fell in love with the place. The lessons are very well structured and all the children cooperative. Master Manuk does an excellent job encouraging each child and ensuring that they are attempting to strive for their best. When our son finally had the opportunity to test as a yellow belt, he took it extremely seriously and wanted to make sure to impress both Master Varouj and Master Manuk. Our younger son (3 years old) was very shy from the get go - in fact the first month we just spent watching on the side line. I was a bit discouraged that he would just never show interest in karate. Ms. Tanya, who sits up front, was so incredibly sincere. She assured us that we should keep coming, as often as we could, and he will eventually show interest. I am so glad that we continued as my little Tiny Tiger is now a yellow striped belt. As yellow belts, we as parents are no longer allowed to watch them as their training becomes more focused and they begin to learn more sophisticated lessons. It is great seeing the continued enthusiasm. One day I was sitting watching my son's class and the students from the higher belt classes came in and started to shake everyones' hands. I was so impressed as to the level of discipline and I am looking forward to the day that my boys strive to that level. Additionally, they have these amazing Saturday camps which my boys have really enjoyed attending. It is an additional fee per camp but they offer food, activities, and a movie to watch. I think it's great that the kids get to see one another and bond further. I highly recommend Bejanian Martial Arts in Glendale! You will not regret signing up your child. read more
