My knitting daughter and I visited this shop while on vacation. The woman working in the shop was charming, knowledgeable and helpful. I do not recall her name but she had pretty curly, red hair. We discussed this because my daughter is also a ginger. Really cool local hand dyed yarns named for local landmarks are available. Went walk about recently- decided to find a "new yarn shop"- was willing to go to PDX if I HAD TO...but wasn't really wanting to after doing a search I found this place- Boy am I glad I did GREAT help- super nice staff member - very nice line or store branded yarn. Sherry the owner was wonderful. Helped my group of friends all on a knitting retreat - pick out some yarn and fun patterns on Ravelry. I bought some gorgeous yarn to make socks and she kindly wound my skein of yarn while we looked around the store. She greeted everyone with a smile and Hello. We visit Cannon Beach for a week at least once a year. I always stop in and buy yarn for a big project to support a LYS. This time I was so disappointed. I walked in and walked around the store for at least ten minutes and the lady behind the counter wouldn't even acknowledge me. No "Hi"... nothing. She absolutely saw me but chose to chat about blocking lace with another customer. Needless to say I walked out without spending a dime, when I generally drop at least a few hundred dollars on yarn when I visit. read more

Cute little shop, but I tried to exchange a measuring tape I bought less than 24 hours after I purchased it and was told no. Their receipt does say sales are final for notions, so just be careful before you buy anything. Disappointed that a little shop I would have been excited to return couldn't have been more accommodating. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a yarn store in a tourist, coastal town! I was driving by and just had to stop in. The selection was beautiful and also has quite a bit of notions, needles, and patterns, not just yarn. The owner was very sweet and helpful and also suggested some of her favorite places near by to eat. Highly recommend! read more

Nice little yarn shop, more expensive like all the little ones are, but that's not why you knit, is it? I bought a very pretty malabrigo here, they had a variety of other shades of it too. The shopkeeper was relatively helpful, and nice. Such a great store! I bought yarn for a project, got back to Portland and realized I hadn't bought enough. I emailed them, and they shipped me more, the same day! About a week later, I decided to make another project using a similar yarn, but I couldn't quite make out the colors on the manufacturer's site. I emailed again, and they were kind enough to send me photos of the individual skeins they had in stock, so I could choose just the right color! No kidding, I will be more likely to visit Canon Beach over other coastal towns, just so I can visit this store again. Thank you! read more

I always seek out yarn shops when I travel and spend time petting yarn. This shop carries several gorgeous colorways of Blue Moon yarn dyed specifically for their shop and Friday night is Knit Night. This was my first visit to Coastal Yarns. Yep people there were friendly and warm (as a great yarn shop should be), and the joy in having quality yarn and fiber really showed. They had lots of Lornas Laces yarn and I found some spinning fiber in super wash as well. They have there own Coastal brand hand dyed wool with shoes s nylon (for sock making in my view). read more

Cannon beach is a great place, especially if you're a Goonies fan, like I am! Originally from Vancouver, WA, and living in New Hampshire, I was out visiting my family and my mom and I took a weekend in Cannon beach. My mom was expressing her interest in knitting, and I had a slight interest in crocheting at the time. This was about...two years ago? We went in, overwhelmed by their large selection of yarn. The lady in the front was busy knitting away, and we approached her as cautious soon to be knitters. She was extremely helpful, from helping us pick out our first pair of knitting needles, yarn and a book to help us learn- Stitch and Bitch- the best!!! I credit this little shop for being the first yarn store I had ever been in that started my love for knitting! I can't quite remember what the prices were when I went, but it's definitely worth it, especially to support a local business. Great shop in the wonderful Cannon beach! read more

Great yarn shop, coastal or not. They carry a good selection of yarns, books and accessories. My favorite purchase to date are the HiyaHiya interchangeable needles. Not only was I surprised the shop carried them, but pleasantly surprised by the selection. The shop is a bit more expensive than Portland, but the convenience of being able to purchase exactly what I wanted while at the coast made the purchase well worth it. Thank you! read more

They had an excellent selection of yarn, but I needed help navigating it...the employee there seemed hesitant to help me when I tried to ask questions. I wanted to give this shop two stars but gave it three due to it having a very small selection Blue Moon Fiber Arts and Madelinetosh. Just another yarn shop almost entirely comprised of large commercial yarn brands. The PNW has such an amazing array of indie dyers, it's too bad this shop, in such upscale boutique little town, doesn't try to capitalize on that. I will skip it next time I'm in town. read more

Good selection of yarns, they carry Sirdar which I love but often have a hard time finding. Price is slightly higher than I could find elsewhere, but I like supporting local business and if I am out for a splurge, this is a good place to go. Person at the counter was friendly and helpful, offered project ideas without pushing a pattern sale. Will be back. read more

Great selection of sock yarn and Madelintosh. I was originally just browsing but I ended up not spending a lot of time here, because I found inspiration. I saw a sample of the Azel Pullover and immediately called my friend for her yarn choice (making it for her granddaughter). We chose Snuggle, Alpaca/Wool/Acrylic. While I was talking to her, the clerk produced the pattern, then printed me a copy. We chatted about my current project which I enjoy since no one at home "gets into" my knitting. read more

Would have liked to see a larger variety of local yarns as I was hoping to get something I couldn't normally get at my LYS in MN. With what they carried though, they had a great selection of colors and I was able to find some beautiful Madelintosh that worked out just fine as my 'souvenir' yarn from my trip to Cannon Beach. :) read more

Staff and Sheri,the owner, are awesome, very helpful and knowledgable. They have expanded my horizons on several occasions. I am now knitting my first sweater because the staff there has encouraged me and helped me understand gauge swatches. I love this store.
