I was in need of some new racing flats and decided to check out Coastal Sole's website. I emailed Todd with a question and some information on what I was looking for. Much to my surprise, not only did he respond very promptly, but he had done some research on shoes that would work for me based on what I told him! He narrowed it down to three and had a little paragraph with details about each one. I was very impressed! I chose one and he went ahead and ordered it. I also realized I needed some every day training shoes so I went in to the store today as well. Todd is very knowledgeable and made sure I got exactly what I needed in a running shoe. He also went above and beyond by helping keep my toddler entertained, he even brought out a cornhole board and let him play with the bean bags! He also talked to me about some fun upcoming events associated with the store and local running clubs. The only place in new bern that sells only high quality shoes. The owner worked for 30 years at another shoe store in town. When that store dropped the high quality ones to focus more on fashion, he left and started his own store. Are you a runner? Other sports? Knee, back, or hip pain? Have problems with your feet? This is the only shoe store for you. The owner will examine your feet, how you step, and advise accordingly. I'm a nurse. On my aching, damaged feet all day. Oh man, let me tell you, this is the place. If you want good quality shoes that fit you correctly, get rid of pain, and are purpose built for your type of foot this is the place. You can go get ugly Jordan's somewhere else. You can get fashion shoes and skateboarding shoes at the mall. If you want a legitimate running, walking, or hiking shoe from people who know exactly what they're talking about...this is the spot. The information provided was worth more than the shoes. The owner knows his stuff. The employee was FULLY trained and had the same knowledge and expertise as the owner who carries thirty years of know how and experience and isn't scared to share that knowledge. He wants you to buy the shoe that is right for you. Wether it be the cheapest or most expensive, he wants the one you'll love. A true return policy if they don't work out, a perfectly reasonable price, and a no pressure environment with great selection even with the shortages and pandemic nonsense we're still dealing with. I can't recommend this place enough. The icing on the cake was that there was ZERO attempt to sell me socks, insoles, shoe cleaner, laces, fried chicken or any of the other "add ons" every shoe store tries to make you buy. This place is awesome, the owner and employees are out of this world, and it's a local new Bern business that deserves your consideration. You won't be disappointed. I promise. 12/2021 I bought shoes to provide greater stability from side to side as I have a tendency to twist my ankle if I hit a rock or uneven terrain. Helpful, friendly, and "knowledgeable" staff explained that the higher heel toe drop etc of my current Skechers could cause the stability problems. They recommended zero drop Altra shoes. Love them! Very comfortable and stable. They're a bit more expensive than my previous shoes, but very much worth the investment. Going to buy another pair today. read more
