I have to say that I am still highly impressed by the service and professionalism of Coastal Eye Associates. I have always been seen promptly by anyone I have an appointment to see. Among the professionals I have seen are Dr. Yang, Rachael, the CNP-C, Dr. Gundersen, and Dr. Collins. Each individual takes time to explain to me any problems I have, the various means of correcting these problems, and alternate means of treatment. The one most helpful thing that they do when examining my eyes is to go slow enough for me to be able to determine which set of letters is clearest. read more

However, I had two lenses to be order for a trial back in October 2025. I received one of the trials in November 2025. Second pair January 30,2026. How could compare the two in order to know which one was the best fit. I have called 4 times and spoke with Optical and was completely dismissed. I only received my final prescription 7 months later. Initial visit with Dr. Zadanie today for cataract consultation. There is a step by step process for testing. Dr. Zadanie rushed through the visit without stating the next steps or answering any questions. The technician was argumentive/rude and did not want to get Dr. Zadanie, instead was adamit for us to exit to receptionist. Dr. Zadanie finally came back in and answered questions only and was not not thorough in his explanations. As others have stated, staff is rude and there is no consideration for patient/customer.....no empathy. If you must visit this practice, avoid Dr. Zadanie and schedule with someone else. They filed my surgery as out-of-network even though they and the doctor are in network. My previous visits had all been filed in network. Before I had the surgery, I was told I had to pay a certain amount and I paid that but asked if they were going to file with my insurance so that my payment would go towards my deductible. The lady told me that it wasn't her job, but they should. They didn't. After all my follow up visits, I asked if they were finally going to file and was told not if they haven't already but that I could file. Then she gave me a copy of the bill. Once I filed, it came back as out-of-network. I appealed, only to find out that the reason was that Coastal Eye Associates had coded it that way. I've called numerous times and I was told the manager would call me back. Of course she hasn't. When I call they put me through to voice mail now. I've seen Dr Yazdanie twice now at Webster location. Both times I was VERY VERY RUSHED by him. I could not ask questions about my care or possible other treatments to help my eye disease. I need surgery eventually for cataracts but have to address another issue, very problematic dry eyes first. Ive done research on YouTube and I know there are some other treatments that could be offered. Both times I've seen him I couldn't ask him questions for being so rushed. Is negative stars possible. This place is a zoo. Close to 60 waiting chairs in the office. You're just a number. Unless you're making an appointment good luck at getting a call returned. Appointments are long hours even little time spent with the patient. I paid about $200 for an eye exam which didn't even cover checking my vision left me with no answers. I called back multiple times. The front desk just transfers you to someone who doesn't return your phone call. I went here first from a recommendation from a friend ended up at a different place the next week that I was really happy with. Please look at the reviews they are all exactly what I experience overbooked long wait times to spend little time with the dr. I understand Dr's need to make money but this is run like a Walmart high volume with no help. Patient care here takes the back seat to seeing as many people as possible. The office staff at coastal eye associates is awful. Possibly through no fault of their own, they overbook patient appointments. I went there specifically to see Dr Lipsky. For my post-op appt I was told Dr Lipsky was out that day so I'd have to see Dr Collins. They contacted me 4 times through automated voicemail & texts to remind me of my 9:20 appt. Dr. Lipsky was in fact seeing patients that day which annoyed me to start with. I asked why I was told he would be out, the receptionist said they do that so patients don't have to wait so long. I didn't see Dr Collins until after 10 am. 45 minutes after the appointment time to see the 2nd string doctor doesn't seem like doing me a favor. The billing office is a whole other story that's too long to go into. The upshot is that there are lots of ophthalmologists out there. Find one that's not Coastal Eye Associates. read more

Terrible billing practices. Coastal Eye Associates sent me a bill almost a year after my last visit. This is despite them successfully taking my insurance for years. There was no warning that they were out of network and the support to address the issue was nonexistent. While their doctors may be excellent, the management of this practice has much to be desired. What a waste of my time! Arrived 10 minutes early. Promptly taken to Dr. McMullen's waiting room. Waited 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. Inquired as to the delay. Was asked if I wanted to reschedule. As a teacher, if I expected a parent or an administrator to wait on me for 30 minutes, I would at least have the common courtesy to get word to them concerning the delay, AND I would expect serious repercussions. If it were possible to rate lower, I would. Scheduled an appointment for a consultation whether it was appropriate time for cataract surgery. After a 15 minute wait, was ushered by a technician to undergo the battery of eye exams as if one were seeking new glasses. I neither wanted or needed such intrusion. After putting dilation drops in my eyes was then ushered to a waiting room with many other patients. They do not have an option of an Optimap to avoid the drops. Finally 70 minutes after the appointed time, and 90 minutes after my arrival, I decided enough was enough. As I was leaving, a group of four young female technicians were sitting around doing nothing. I asked if they had drops to counteract the dilation drops. They did not. I then drove sight-impaired to a meeting 30 minutes away, then another meeting 30 minutes away. Very unsafe on the road with very compromised vision. After 4 hours, the dilations drops still had not worn off, although the technicians said it would take two hours. 8 hours later, after driving home, the drops still had not worn off. This practice is incompetent, disrespectful, and dangerous. NEVER trust your eyesight to this practice. read more

If not for dr. Gunderson who is the only pediatric eye doctor in that area, I would go elsewhere. They are very busy and crowded. Small little office covers at least 4 eye doctors at any given day. Their optical shop is right in the waiting room, arm reach to patients waiting to be seen. I wish they had a little more privacy than that. This place is a nightmare. My first appointment was screwed up by scheduling. I called to request eye appointment to get glasses and they made appointment with dr Tran who doesn't do eyeglass exams. Then I came back waited for over 1.5 hours for appointment watching three people walk out because they had waited over three hours for appointments. When I came out of exam, even though just before I went in I spoke to the people in the glasses area about getting my glasses ordered today, they were gone. Are you freaking kidding me. Three strikes you are out I am not coming back a third appointment for glasses. The staff is horribly loud. I am a medical person and understand letting loose at work but the last hour I have been listening to full belly laughing and talking. If you want to be treated like cattle going in for branding or if you dont have anything better to do,this might be a good place. they over book (You should see the waiting rooms) and if you try to call on the phone you better bring your lunch,,,this is going to be a long wait experience on hold while they are busy packing their waiting rooms and putting you on hold while you listen to their recorded hype to try to tell you what a great place this is. Every time I was there I saw a different Dr.( if in fact they are all doctors?) and now I have to go to a doctor to get some kind laser treatment (supposed to be a 10 min. procedure) to remove the cloudy problem on my new lens that was implanted less than a year ago.They never mentioned that I was going to have vision problems after they replaced my lenses when all I really needed was to remove cataracts. Wednesday, 6/30/21, I had a very pleasant time at Coastal Eye, Webster. I was on time for my 9:05 appointment. 15 minutes later Dr Demouchet called me in. He compared my present eyes with my old prescription and wrote me a new one, maybe 15 minutes. No one told me where to get it filled, but I chose to have it done at Coastal. maybe 10 minutes going through the choices. 9:45, I was out the door, 40 minutes total. I came to see Dr. Tran the Monday before Thanksgiving because I was experiencing peripheral vision loss in my left eye. After a few tests he told me my optic nerve was swollen and sent me for an MRI. Two days later, Wednesday, he called with the results and told me over the phone that I had a tumor on my optic nerve and that someone from his team would be calling me with a referral to a surgeon. Not sure if they were open on the Friday after Thanksgiving, I waited all day Monday and after not hearing from anyone I called and left my first message. I called again on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, getting transferred from one person to another and leaving messages and still no return call. On Friday morning, I drove to their office and quite loudly so everyone waiting could hear, I explained what had been happening. I was quickly ushered to the patient coordinator's office who I had left a message for the previous day. She was very nice and said she had not called back because she had been waiting to see if Dr. Tran had called with the MRI results because it wasn't noted on my file. When I told her that I had talked to him over a week earlier, she then said she didn't understand what else I was needing. I told her about the tumor and the referral that never came and she was shocked since Dr. Tran had written on my file that the MRI was normal. Unbelievable and inexcusable! She immediately got on the phone to get me an appointment the following week with Dr. Sami in Houston. Dr. Sami showed me the MRI and said the tumor looked like it was between the optic nerves not ON the nerve and she then referred me to Dr. Yalamanchili at Methodist Eye Center who then referred me to Dr. Baskin at Methodist's Peak Brain and Pituitary Tumor Center because I actually had a brain tumor and had surgery on January 9th at Methodist. Thank God I was persistent and thank God for good doctors. Unfortunately, Dr. Tran isn't one of them. read more

I have two pair of glasses from the past two years that I am unable to wear. The doctor seemed unwilling to listen to the fact that I didn't want to change to read better, see further, etc. One pair I have I can't see the kitchen counter. The other makes me feel very dizzy. The optical shop was rude when the doctor asked them to change the lenses. I did have both pair redone and still can't wear them. I'm not sure the optical shop actually changed anything. read more

My mom insisted on seeing a specific doctor for cataracts and it has been a horrible experience. It was TWO HOURS after the appointment time before we saw the doctor. They were quick to tell another patient to put on a mask but made no comment about the 8 year old kid running back and forth across the waiting room for an hour and putting every single pair of sample glasses on her face. Dr. Lipsky seemed to care about me as a patient.. However I have now realized that I am just another number to both him and his staff/technicians.. Had an appointment with cornea specialist, Dr. Lipsky, last Wednesday morning @ 8:50. Note: Some of this is partially a huge miscommunication with my job.. However, usually need to be at work by 8am on Wednesdays. I told my job last Wednesday that I had an appointment.. My schedule wasn't blocked off for that amount of time nor did they ask the new girl to come in earlier.. And it's still my fault! Seriously? Back to eye doctor.. Dr. doesn't come into office until 9 to 9:30 yet they start seeing patients at 8:30am..? Again, my appointment was at 8:50.. Which means I wouldn't have been since until about 9:30 and that's IF he shows up before then! Had to reschedule appointment for 2:15 in afternoon .. Was there until 3:15 and still had NOT been seen by him.. There was still two patients ahead of me! I have class at 4pm in which I told them that morning and that afternoon!!! This technician had the audacity to tell me "you can find another doctor, and this is coming from "Dr. Lipsky's" mouth, you are welcome to see another specialist"!!! First of all, you NEVER tell a patient nor client something like that... Secondly, you obviously do NOT CARE about your patients if you are suggesting as much! I can understand an hour tops in a doctor's office! Can we say 'timely manner'?! Next, They made a point to mention that ALL specialist have a waiting list and take a couple of hours to be seen! I think not! I have seen quite a few specialist doctors including cardiologist, podiatrist, and dentist (among a few others) and I have NEVER had to wait two hours to even be seen! Arrived for my appointment 20 minutes early and there was their parking lot was completely full, had to park in the side street and walk half a block to the office. When I went in, the waiting room had so many people waiting that there was standing room only. Signed in, and after waiting 45 minutes to simply be called up to be checked in, I cancelled my appointment and left. (I am 63 years old and this is the 1st time I ever walked out on an appointment.) I hate this place. Strong words, Yes but so true. Been taking both of my children there for a couple of years now. Why did I stay so long. Well because they took my insurance. But from day one have had to be deal with being treated very rudely. Not my the doctors but by the front desk staff. There has been several incidents but I am only going to discuss the last few. On May 15th of this year took both of my kids in for their appts. Both my son and daughter were given new perscriptions for glasses. My daughter was also given a perscription for contacts. We went to contact dept and ordered my daughters new contacts. Then from there we went to the glass dept and both children picked out their new glasses. With in a week and a half or so the contacts and glasses came in and we went in and picked up all items. Shortly after my daughters eyes became very irritated. After about 3-4 weeks of her suffering with the contacts I returned to the clinic for help. I was told I had to schedule an appt to see the doctor again and was referred to the lady at the end of the counter. Betty was her name. One of the rudist people I have ever had to deal with. She became extremely rude when I couldnt recall my daughters doctors name. Finally managed to make an appt for my daughter. So went back in and was given another exam. Determined my daughter was allegic to the contacts. They were silicone based and my daughter couldnt wear them. So they told me they would order her different contacts but in the mean time they gave her a trail pair. Said wear them for about 3 weeks and if no problem they would order her a new set.. So after 3 weeks all was good so I called them and they ordered the new contacts. So they came in yesterday and I went in to pick them up. Was told they were 95.00. I was shocked and surely didnt see that coming. I asked why there was a charge and they told me because she was given a trial pair on the 15th of May. The day of her initial appt. This is soooo not true. We were NEVER given a trial pair of contacts. If we would have maybe we would not be in the current situation. I am so upset. Will never take my kids back to there again. I feel that they perscribed a product that my daughter could not use. And if only they would have actually given her a trial pair I would not be out a hundred bucks for something she cant even wear. Update 08-02-12 Just wanted to update ya'll on this. Got a bill two days ago from Coastal Eye. Want to guess what it was for. Yep. The contacts that I choose not to purchase. So could it be. Could it just be possible they made a mistake regarding my bill they also could have made a mistake previously regarding my daughters trial pair of contacts. Sounds reasonable to me. Oh well I have cut my loses and moved on. Just out $95.00 for the contacts. I did go back in today and spoke with a chick by the name Tammy and she did agree to take the charge off my bill. Well Dr. Gunderson is awesome. However, the wait time is pathetic. The four times we did come here we were seen 2 hours after our appointment time. We only spent maybe 10 mins or less with the doctor each time. The staff behind the receptionist desk seem to out number the doctors and nurses. Surprisingly they were still extremely slow in doing anything at the desk. The appointments are booked on top of each other so don't be surprised if 4 people go ahead of you even if your appointment time was before theirs. Dr is 4/5 but due to the lack of customer service, the review is downgraded to 2/5. read more

I have been going here for 7+ years. They are great and all, but the wait time is absolutely ridiculous. Each time I come it gets worse and worse. Last time I had an appt. for routine eye care at 845, and didn't get out until almost 11! This time around is a bit more urgent (corneal abrasion) they made me wait AN HOUR from the time my appointment was scheduled until the time they actually called me back. Clearly they need to reevaluate the way they schedule appointments. What's the point in making an appointment for a certain time if you're not even going to be seen at that time?! read more
