The property itself was in need of some repairs and upgrades: the hot water tank gave out the first night. The rental agency contact did get a plumber out to us, but I had got the pilot to stay lit while he was there, and he left with the wrong diagnosis (improper ventilation). After repeated re-lightings, the pilot would not stay on. We gave up on it. Also, the built-in microwave was kaput, and the original oven controls were missing. A replacement microwave was set on a counter. One day into the stay, a cabinet door to the kitchen sink area fell off. The fill cycle in the master bath toilet would not shut off without jiggling the handle. Coasting Home should have known of the issues with this home, and should not have listed it. It's minimal and modern but appropriate and fitting for the environment its in. You can see Charles Moore original "Condominium One" on the south end of Sea Ranch. Nowadays most of the homes are rentals or second homes, the community never happened but you do get peace and quiet with not a lot of people around. We rented a weekend home from Grand Welcome and had to drive 8 minutes north to pick up our keys at Gualala. The Kabella house was easy access to everything, we drove no longer than 10 minutes everywhere we went. Our favorite part was the glass-panel wood burning stove and the outdoor Jacuzzi that lets you enjoy the stars on clear nights.
