But now I have an even BETTER reason to frequent this tiny town! Using the label, "Wild Rag," South Texas Distillery produces two amazing vodkas; one traditional and one cinnamon-flavored!! The traditional vodka is SUPER SMOOTH with caramel notes and a clean finish. It mixes GREAT with just about anything or enjoy it over ice. The "Torch" cinnamon-flavored variety is like a party in your mouth! It's a little spicier than your average cocktail - like a handful of Red Hots with a nice kick afterward. You can't go wrong having a heavy hand when you pour this into a glass. The tasting and sales room are both on site and visitors are encouraged to try and buy. It's very easy to do both. This business is just getting ramped up, but the vodkas have already picked up a major distributor so you should be able to find it in liquor stores soon. BUT, don't let that keep you from making the voyage to this out-of-the-way location to see (and try) it for yourself. I think I'll keep getting my bottles from the source.

Hand made cocktails featuring the local spirit are top notch, live music is featured as well. They offer tours of where the magic happens (I'll try to make it early enough next time) but definitely a positive, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy some locally made beverages. In addition to that you can buy bottles on site (I did). A nice small display of merchandise is available as well. We'll be back, and we highly recommend it if you're in the area.

I love how there's so much public art in this town. Be sure to take in the WWII soldier on the corner of the main street throwing a hand grenade! Fierce! I enjoy all the murals in this town every time I drive through, from the Western silhouettes of cowboys sitting on the fence, to the patriotically Bible themed American pride mural showing our founding fathers by the pecan factory. The buildings along the main drag all look like they are from some sort of movie- they all look so vintage and historic. There's all kinds of local businesses in the main strip shops- no major chains. There's also a new distillery in this town! Swwoooon! Welcome Moonshine Distillers! The only frustrating thing about this town is the train tracks that go right through the middle of the place, they're loud, and cut the town in half for extended periods of time as they rumble through. Sinton is a fun town to visit, with lots of outdoorsy things to do. It's not far from the Gulf Coast, about half an hour or so to Rockport.

I'm a fan of small batch distilleries and craft beer spots, and part of why I bought in this area years ago was having places like Lorelei Brewing Company nearby. RIP to that gem. After a rare date night dinner, my wife and I stopped in for one more drink before heading home. The first thing that stood out was the interior. It feels like something you'd expect to see in Austin or Dallas, not tucked into this neighborhood. It's clean, well designed, and doesn't rely on loud music. Instead, you hear conversations from a steady crowd of regulars, which made the place feel relaxed. Even though it was busy, the wait for drinks was reasonable. I ordered a whiskey sour and my wife went with a French 75. The whiskey sour was one of the best I've had. Balanced, smooth, and clearly made with care. The French 75 was good too, but the whiskey sour easily stole the show. Great experience overall. I'm looking forward to going back and working through more of the cocktail menu.

Family owned, this distillery hits the mark with its self-guided tours (guided tours are available by reservation), friendly and knowledgeable mixologists (there's no delayed gratification here... drink while you tour), and casual outdoor spaces.
