The Wifey and Rum & Smoke

Not pictured, but ordered right after this round: French 75 and the Moscow Mule - SO GOOD! Would hands down visit this place again!

They are not officially up and running, but you can still get a tour and samples. The owner is very passionate about what he does and where he is going. He has big plans and I hope to come back and see what he has done. The place has a cool atmosphere. The bar is made of an airplane wing. Once officially open they plan to be family and dog friendly. They already have a play set and games on site.

Super clean and cool little distillery/tasting room; it's a small building on a small lot tucked back in a neighborhood next to an airstrip, which seems to be the influence/inspiration for the place as it has airplane wings inside on the ceiling and as the bar. They have a small inside seating area with some of their merch/bottles available, as well as free water and a popcorn machine. They also have a covered (and heated - though it wasn't on when we were there) seating area outside, which is also pretty comfortable and nice. The apparent was tending the bar and was glad to have us sample some of the goods. We got their two bourbons, a barrel-aged gin, and the rum; all had nice and unique flavors (cilantro) and were nicely balanced; the gin actually tasted somewhat like Dr Pepper to us interestingly.

Patio ambiance.

This distillery was exceptional. Nathan, the owner, was friendly, the bourbon is a hidden gem (I've been to a lot of distilleries across the United States), and the atmosphere is inviting.

Great service, nice atmosphere and excellent bourbon. In a beaten up area but don't let that stop you from visiting.

Ask the Community - Aerodrome Distilling

The website says they started in 2018, but they advertise they have 6 year old bourbon? and a rare 17 year old bourbon?

Hi Mike. Great question. It's common in the distilling industry to purchase barrels from other companies while your own products are aging. We've been fortunate enough to be able to source some absolutely amazing and rare barrels. We then continue… Read more

But now I have an even BETTER reason to frequent this tiny town! Using the label, "Wild Rag," South Texas Distillery produces two amazing vodkas; one traditional and one cinnamon-flavored!! The traditional vodka is SUPER SMOOTH with caramel notes and a clean finish. It mixes GREAT with just about anything or enjoy it over ice. The "Torch" cinnamon-flavored variety is like a party in your mouth! It's a little spicier than your average cocktail - like a handful of Red Hots with a nice kick afterward. You can't go wrong having a heavy hand when you pour this into a glass. The tasting and sales room are both on site and visitors are encouraged to try and buy. It's very easy to do both. This business is just getting ramped up, but the vodkas have already picked up a major distributor so you should be able to find it in liquor stores soon. BUT, don't let that keep you from making the voyage to this out-of-the-way location to see (and try) it for yourself. I think I'll keep getting my bottles from the source.

Hand made cocktails featuring the local spirit are top notch, live music is featured as well. They offer tours of where the magic happens (I'll try to make it early enough next time) but definitely a positive, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy some locally made beverages. In addition to that you can buy bottles on site (I did). A nice small display of merchandise is available as well. We'll be back, and we highly recommend it if you're in the area.
