Apparently they…read morenever installed ice stops and the ice pushed our vents and caused leaks through our stove vent. (This caused mold which meant we had to renovate our entire kitchen. That cost $18,000!) We did our best to calk it in the meantime for an immediate fix. Sure enough, it started leaking again into our new kitchen! When we called them about it as the roof is warranteed, the woman who answered the phone referred us to some guy named Toby who used to work with them. He gave us a ridiculous price of $1600.00 to fix the leak and install the ice stops that should have been installed to begin with! We specifically went with Burke's because of the guarantee that the dad, the founder of the company, assured us of when he came out to quote. Apparently the son does not uphold the guarantee and quality that the company earned its reputation on. I still have my paperwork with the guarantee. I want my roof to not leak. I'd rather give my lawyer $1600.00 to get them to stand by their work than to pay some dude named Toby. Their guarantee is garbage. Go with someone else. Edit: 09/25/23 I just received a phone call from Sheryl Burke stating that our problem was from a lack of "maintenance" not their work, therefore they could come out and quote us to do what is needed to fix the leak but that they are more expensive than the quote I got recently. I informed her that this is not an issue of maintenance when they, the roofing professionals, never informed us that we needed additional hardware for a leak-free roof. We assumed that they, the professionals, would know what our roof needed and would include all of this at the time of quote and install. She tried to insinuate that we haggled over price, going with a cheaper option, (we didn't) and she stated that Zach didn't do the work, his dad Mark did. Wrong again, Sheryl. Mark quoted it in June and Zach did it in October. The bottom line: don't trust them to do what is needed, don't trust them to inform you of what is needed, and certainly don't trust them to stand by their assurance of a leak-free roof.

We were newcomers to Maine and were looking on the Better Business Bureau website for AAA rated contractors. Like the other contractors, Buckley Builders had a wait time. But we needed to have a 40-year-old broken and unreparable stove with a separate cooktop removed and replaced, which meant cutting counters, closing up a window and creating a vent system for the new oven. Not a tiny job. Shawn Buckley took pity on us and made the time to get our new stove installed, because, as he said, you can't really move into a house unless you can cook in it. The company have done really excellent work on both houses, for all their differences in age and condition. Particularly with the current house, they have turned the somewhat unstable barn structure into a rock-solid waterproof ground-level bedroom with bathroom and closets. This has involved shoring up the foundations, strengthening the roof and walls, demolishing a section that was more or less rotten, and a lot more. Shawn, Joe, and Pete Buckley are very sensitive to the style of the buildings they work on and we have relied on their judgment throughout, with no regrets. They have done a beautiful job on trimwork and siding, installing skylights, and building decks. In the newer house, among other things, they excavated and concreted the basement to augment the radon protection and to make it a more usable space. Buckley Builders use plumbers and electricians they have worked with for years and whose work is also excellent. The entire team are friendly, polite, and very attentive to the needs and desires of their clients. They have also been extremely tolerant and kind to our four animals, who haven't always been kind and tolerant back. We are happy to recommend Buckley Builders unreservedly.

Shawn Buckley of Buckley Builders gave me a start date for my project of March 2022. He began 8 months later, at the end of November 2022. Because of this, I incurred the cost of supporting 2 households for those months, to the tune of $12,000. During my project, Shawn continually asked for up-front funds for time and materials, without supplying invoices for the completed work. After 3 months, I finally convinced him to send me invoices. Shawn continually asked for money, until I finally told him that I would have to find an alternate way, to pay him. Shawn continually accused me of owing him money. He walked off the project in May. Comparing Shawn's invoices to my payments - with bank proof of all checks written out to, and signed by Shawn - Shawn owes me $21,203.04. Again, Shawn accused me of owing him money... Somehow, he couldn't "find" 2 of my checks, totaling $25,000 in his bank account. After a long wait on my part, and being confronted with real numbers, Shawn "found" the missing checks. Today, 4 weeks after Shawn walked away from my project; The house has no floors. The kitchen has no cupboards. None of the appliances have been hooked-up. The front door has no handle, the steps to the 2nd floor have no treads, and the sink and toilet have not been installed in the 1st-floor bath. Invoices from Shawn total $110,796.96. I have paid him $132,000. Shawn owes me $21,203.04 in labor and materials. If I add the cost of the March - November 2022 and May - June 2023 (10 months of delays or $15,000 in additional living expenses) into the mix, Shawn owes me $36,203.04 in labor, materials and living expenses.
