My 9 month old has had the best care under her and she also has one of the kindest, nicest staff especially Kim. I'm a first-time mom and they're always available when ever I have any questions. Top notch for sure!

We had a pediatrician picked out prior to delivery (9 months ago), but after my c section they mentioned that the dr we chose was no longer taking new patients.. so they scheduled us a pediatrician. After our sons first check up (with the assigned Dr) a few days after we left the hospital, I had that new motherly gut instinct that this was not the dr, nor the office I wanted to bring my child to for the next 10 years. I went on yelp to find a Dr. immediately after that appointment and came across Carmel Valley Pediatrics. Our first appointment with Dr. D was amazing. She was so sweet, nurturing and really made me feel comfortable as a new mom! She always has time for questions, and as new parents we ask tons of dumb questions and she's always is so sweet and so helpful and makes us feel so supported. I can not say enough good things about her and the other ladies in the office. I get so excited to go in and visit them! Not to mention my little guy loves the office, the staff and Dr. D. So so so happy we found this office. Couldn't be happier!!!

When we met with Dr. Lisa she spend 3.5 hours with us reviewing every detail of our son's medical journey and symptoms. The next day Dr. Lisa had a diagnosis for us (Mast Cell Activation Disorder) and she has stood by our side as we try to navigate this continually changing disease. Dr. Lisa makes me feel calm and confident each time I speak to her and has spent hours helping us work with the school district and other professionals to find the best care for our son. I would highly recommend Dr. Lisa for children and adults. You won't find better care.

We spent a TON of money and received poor technical urinalysis results (basically a print out from the lab; no added value from her as a doctor explaining it in relatable terms). She spoke endlessly in technical terms to my teenager whose eyes glazed over and whom stopped listening (and she continuously repeated herself). Dr L then prescribed an overwhelming number of supplements (rather than finding supplements with multiple nutrients that were needed), that again cost a lot of money. I communicated that the plan was overwhelming and not going to work for us. She did not even try to keep us as a client. Needless to say we ended this relationship and lost a lot of money. (I have never written a negative review on a business before.)

I really really try to avoid 1 star reviews if at all possible. It really bums me out when I have…read moreto write one. Lets start with this: When you say there is an issue and you expect some reaction like, oh I don't know...maybe something like, "I'm sorry to hear that, tell me more about what happened..." but the response of ... "ok" ...well that seems unsatisfying... then you say something much stronger to provoke a response like "I had to take my kid to Urgent Care as a direct result of your office" ... and again you get a very sedate ... "ok"... Now our story from the beginning. A few of the engineers at our company use Dr Mills for their kids, and with their recommendations I didn't think twice about picking her. Before the birth of our child, I called her office was was told she doesn't do prebirth meet and greets. Without collecting any of our information we were told to list her as the pediatrician for the hospital. We first met her in the hospital. Our baby was having a hard time breast feeding. She told us everything was fine, and that the baby was still learning how to eat. Our baby gained weight and continued to see Dr Mills. Our baby was still having problems breast feeding. Dr Mills didn't see an issue. We had lots of lactation consultants look at him and finally we paid $$$ for the #1 Lactation Expert in all of San Diego County to look at him. After a couple seconds of watching him she saw the issue - a posterior tongue tie and a lip tie (something that was missed by about 10 other people looking for stuff like tongue ties). She then recommended San Diego's #1 Pediatric Dentist that fixes tongue ties. We saw Dr Mills about a day after that for our next checkup and she was a little weird about the discovery of a tongue tie, and went as far as to assume there was an issue with the Pediatric Dentist (before even knowing that persons name). OK, a little weird, but OK. We didn't expect Dr Mills to find the tongue tie (10+ specialists missed it), but fighting recommendations by the people that discovered it wasn't helpful. During the 4 month visit he had little redness on his cheeks where he kept rubbing his face (sometimes rubbing his face when wearing mittens). She didn't mention anything about the redness (it was minor). At the end we mentioned it. We were going to not put anything on his hands anymore, and asked what to do about the irritated skin... ...my wife said she thought it was contact dermatitis...that's when stuff got weird again... ...Dr Mills' attitude changed and was she defiant that it wasn't contact dermatitis...we were told it was a yeast rash...we were told it was basically the same as ringworm and told we let our baby get ringworm all over his face...truly awful *if* true...I mean I don't know anything about this stuff and I have to trust Dr Mills knows what she's talking about... She prescribed prescription strength Nystatin and sent us on our way... ...not long after our baby had a really bad reaction from his face down to his chest...we called Dr Mills' office...talked to the office staff a couple times...we stopped the Nystatin before hearing back...stuff seemed to improve while we waited for a call from Dr Mills' office that never came... ...then without any warning it quickly got A LOT worse...his poor face skin turned a darker color was super dry and started to crack and bleed....so we took him to our normal urgent care. The Urgent Care Dr said he doesn't have a yeast rash or ringworm. He had a bad eczema flare up. That doctor told us to go to Rady's Urgent Care and that is what we did. The Dr at Rady's also confirmed he didn't have a yeast rash or ringworm. That Dr did say our baby had contact dermatitis, and now had a bad eczema flare up. The flare up was treated, and the contact dermatitis was also treated. Within a few days his face was healed and was once again perfect. Now I'm not going to accuse Dr Mills of intentionally misdiagnosing our baby for the purpose of shaming us into not Googling our baby's symptoms...but...our new pediatrician showed us pictures of yeast infection/ringworm and our baby didn't have anything that looked like that... In the best case scenario she needs to Google (like we did) and learn that yeast rashes and ringworm are completely different...and the worse case scenario...well...I rather that think about that... ...and yes I said new pediatrician. We didn't switch purely because of the of treating an issue it doesn't look like the baby had. We switched because there was no effort to contact us or help us with the bad reaction to the cream they prescribed. It is a problem if we can't trust the pediatrician to help us. One of the nurses did call me to apologize for not noting for something for Dr Mills respond to, but we don't fully believe it was that nurse's fault (and have a weird feeling she is covering for Dr Mills).

Unlike some of the bigger chain practices, you do not feel rushed. They take the time to really listen to you and your child, and to figure out the best possible diagnosis. You never feel like you are on a conveyor belt or someone outside is holding a stopwatch. They are friendly and patient and get to know you to understand the whole family context. My kids have had some complicated problems involving elaborate medical analyses. Dr. Mills had the brainpower, training and persistence to get to the bottom of what was wrong, which is what you always want as a parent facing a scary situation. Her repeated ranking as one the the Best Doctors in San Diego based on the ranking of her peers is testimony to her skill as a pediatrician. Dr. Dailey is new to the practice but not pediatrics and brings a very warm presence to the exam room, connecting emotionally with kids and setting them at ease. This connectivity enables her to examine the child thoroughly and get to the bottom of the problem (if there is one -- we all want healthy children!) The office and staff are welcoming and friendly and have worked together for many years. This is the very opposite of factory medicine. I highly recommend this practice to any family looking for top quality pediatricians in a family-friendly setting.

We were never informed of this. We ended up seeing a different physician after a lot of hassle over insurance at the front desk (even though I called in advance to advise them that our insurance company had changed and presented an insurance card with Dr. Fishman's name on it, they presented us with a stack of paperwork listing the old insurance - which took more than 40 minutes to sort out!?!). We ended up seeing the resident (I think her name was Dr. Samadi) and Dr. Tolba. Neither physician made any real effort to interact with our son (age 6). Instead, they addressed all of their questions to me as if my son weren't even in the room. We requested a prescription to have during a planned overseas trip, and ended up with one that would expire well before we planned to leave (even though I told them the days of the trip in advance). This created a lot of extra hassle at the pharmacy downstairs, especially after we were unable to reach Dr. Tolba to fix the problem and/or re-write the prescription to include "do not mix" instructions. Overall, the appointment took way too long. We arrived at 3:00 for a 3:30 appointment and didn't get out of there until after 5:00 (6:00 if you count time spent at the pharmacy trying to fix the flawed prescription). The experience was such that I changed our pediatrician and office location the very next day. I can't imagine having gone through this 3 hour ordeal with a sick child instead of a well one!
