I had an appointment at Coast Dental in Ocala FL last week. It was at 8:10. We arrived at 8:00 and the door was locked. Three other cars within the next 15 minutes came and tried the door. At 8:30 a gentleman came out - I assume it was the dentist and said no employees showed up we would have to re-schedule. Both my husband and I had appointments. Is that any way to run a business. And I then get an email that said" We missed you at your appointment - Where did you go" What kind of questions is that???? I didn't go anywhere, we were there? Where did the employees go? If we break an appointment we get charged, are you going to pay us for the 4 hours we lost? Don't waist your time at this place. Horrific experience!! As someone who has extremely sensitive teeth, I gave fair warning that I would need to be fully numb before doing any fillings. I warned them of my previous experience and how incredibly sensitive my mouth is. To my surprise, they wanted to do fillings without novocain!! Then only gave me a small amount that hardly numbed my mouth... the dentist wanted to try to poke around with the very little bit he gave. As if I don't know my own mouth, that I don't know my own pain... how dismissive and undermining!!! Once panic set in, a nasty woman abruptly stomped in and took the bib from my chest which was extremely violating to my body and personal space. A nasty human being... This place has zero compassion, zero tact, zero respect for someone who is obviously suffering, in pain, with trauma from dentists... The doctor never said anything to me, only spoke to his assistant (who is the only decent person who works there). Extremely rude... If you don't mind being treated like garbage, dismissed, violated, and undermined... be their guest... What an awful awful place!!!! If you have an extremely sensitive mouth... Absolutely hate the service I was given! They removed all my teeth and fit me for dentures and after 3 months of waiting for my dentures, 1 week before I was to relieve my dentures, they tell me they no longer accept my insurance and expect me to pay out of pocket for my dentures. The absolute worst experience ever at a "Dental" office. Called as a NEW patient with pain. Was told by Call Center I would see a Dentist named Maynard Fox. I arrived and was greeted. Everything written down handed in,Zerox all ID's and then wait. First impression dirty and rundown. Music in background playing WAY TOO LOUD. Finally taken by a tech back to a room with the bare essentials. Rusting looking equipment,no sanitary plastic wraps on the devices , greasy looking floor, etc. Looks like is was thrown together for a quick setup,but not permanent,kind of look. The tech sat me in a chair,left and came back with paperwork and began to TELL ME what "we" were going to do. Were gonna take xrays of all teeth,then clean your teeth,and then set you up with appointments. SAY WHAT?? Then she said by the way we have NO DENTIST today. I said how much do I owe you,Im out of here. NO DENTIST at all. Just four ladies hanging out. Franchise anything is only as good as what the franchise owner makes it. THIS IS THE WORST. read more

If I could put negative stars, I would. The receptionist has a bad attitude and looks and talks down on you. My husband's appointments have never been close to on time closest is 2 hours late and longest time there for a 30 min appointment he was there 6 hours. Their excuse is always we only have one assistant. Well schedule accordingly! People have jobs and loose money just sitting there. We are trying to get claim information because there is a error somewhere and insurance told us to contact them and tell them the correct code for claim. Yet the dental assistant is the office claims department too. We can't them to call back. Also during my husband's 6hr 30 min visit he was told he needed a roocanal and crown. Then left him in the back in the dental chair while they went to lunch for a hour. The dentist comes back without a assistant and because he did not know where all the supplies were he just put a crown on a access tooth. Now we are having to pay out of pocket for work coast dental claims they did yet x-rays and a decent dentist shows otherwise. 3 years my husband has been trying to get upper and lower partials and has gotten as far as 2 crowns neither match any of his remaining teeth. We go to a new dentist 2 weeks after Dr Fox at coast damn near set the place of fire with a torch for melting some wax to try and make a partial and the new dentist said no the partial would have been no good because he needed fillings b extraction and 2 crowns so his partial would be stable and hos mouth healthy. Yet coast dental never told him he needed any of this. You can't get your appointments scheduled reasonably together if you need more than one appointment. They left part of a tooth in my mouth after they removed it, I complained it hurt and they didn't figure out the part of a tooth was up there for a month. This messed up my healing time to get my bridge. The dentist also dropped his drilling tool on the side of my mouth and face 2 times. This caused scars on my face and mouth. They didn't offer to do anything, they ignored my calls. They got angry with me when they finally did take my call. Poor management. The dentist looks like he is in his 80's. read more

I had my kids in a few months back and my daughter was advised to 2 cavities. We scheduled an appointment for fillings. This is where is all went downhill. The office was closed on the day of the appointment after we confirmed everything without explanation. Despite calls to get her right back in they were scheduling a month out. So we get the short end of the stick. The foreign call center agents don't understand the difference between the hygienist and the dentist and that the hygienist can't perform fillings. So they keep trying to schedule her with someone that can't perform fillings. Now we have to wait almost 2 months to get back in. Come today I call to verify her appointment only to be told they supposedly called on Friday to reschedule because the dentist had an emergency and left a voicemail. Yet here I am with no voicemail and no missed call. So for 4 months we have been trying to get her cavities filled. Go somewhere else and don't waste your time. read more

From the moment I walked in, I was apprehensive. I waited an hour in the waiting room before they took me in. Tech was very nice and to be honest, was more like a Doc than an assistant. The "room" (just a walled off area where everyone can hear everyone else) was dirty and in need of a good cleaning and paint job. Everything felt dirty. So assistant took x-rays and doc came in about 15 minutes later. He's well over 70 yrs old and should NOT be practicing any longer. I had min pain when I went in. He said that 2 teeth needed to be pulled right away. Gave me gobs of Novacaine thank God, and pulled the one tooth pretty easily. The back molar took almost an hour for him to remove and he actually took a break in between trying to remove it. He tugged and tugged, I felt something in my jaw cracking and it finally came out. He just left then. Not a word the whole time I saw him. Nothing except that he cut my lip after having to surgically open my gum. Bleeding like a stuck pig, the assistant cleaned me up (again very nice lady). Doc is a jerk. He failed to say he also cut my tongue. When will my next appt be? in over a month (like I would go back to them) Receptionist is rude and non helpful to say the least. Oh and he also loosened another tooth while trying to extract the molar. I have NEVER been to such a bad dentist. It's a week later now and I'm absolutely in more pain than when I went in. I went to Coast Dental on 36th. Ave. in Ocala for my second set of dentures. The experience was amazing. So different from when I got my first set. The staff was very friendly and caring, and the dentist was kind, gentle, and really listened to what I wanted. No hard sell on anything and my friend who took me to my appts. was so impressed he said, "This is where I'm going when I get my new dentures. The fit was excellent and only needed a very minor adjustment. I highly recommend them. I am very happy with my new teeth. read more

DO NOT GO !!!! I also wish I had read these reviews prior to a first visit. All employees hard sell every possible extra item and service to the point of making the customer feel guilty if not buying the gimmick. Mouth guards, cancer screening, fluoride, electric toothbrushes ..etc. They are on my dental insurance plan which offers 2 free to insured cleanings per year. So instead the dentist insists on a program of deep cleaning every three months which is not covered by insurance. I have beautiful healthy teeth so I asked her to show me on the xrays proof that I needed that; she was snarky at the challenge and could not. All my numbers at the gums were 2s and 3s which as their own booklet states are healthy so I questioned that. She just insisted the upsell is her recommendation and would not let hygienist do a cleaning at the insured rate. She continued stating a Florida law only allows treatment that she recommends, I am sure people fall for this deception as the law is entirely misinterpreted for Coast benefit.
