Best team EVER. Don't waste your time with other dentists like I did. The office has REAL…read moresedation through Nitrous for any procedure, and if you're like me, that's a requirement. I was allowed to watch on a big screen as Dr. Harper examined my teeth on my first visit! It sounded scary to see up close, but it was really neat! He is the most gentle dentist, and thoughtful. He doesn't hurt you at all. Other dentists have shamed me for crying, even yelled at me as a kid. He fixed a temp tooth sitting on an implant that an Oral Surgeon put on too tight. It was put in so badly by the other doctor, it broke and loosened the real tooth next to it. Dr. Harper recemented it and shaved it down to fit properly no charge, after my cleaning. The hygenist is really nice, and patient as well. People who are afraid of the dentist should def. go here. Everyone from front desk, to the back team are friendly and make you feel welcome, when other dentists treat you like you don't know your own mouth, or that you're an annoyance for being afraid. They completely understand at OcalaSmiles. I drink a lot of soda, like lots of people, and every office I've been to it's "Just stop drinking soda all together"... and left it at that. Of course, I love my soda and didn't stop. By the time I found Dr. Harper, the soda had done damage. Instead of shaming me, or trying to browbeat me into quitting soda, I was given an explanation of HOW soda works and work arounds to prevent more issues. Now, I drink my soda through a straw and swish with water many times a day after having a pop. I know it's not the best way, but the improvement in my mouth health has never been this good since I started swishing all that sugar out of my mouth. They treat you like a real person, and they listen. When I gave them my nitrous number, they said "Ok, let's try it and see how it goes." They made me feel SO comfortable, that I didn't want as much nitrous on my second visit. I'll NEVER be a patient elsewhere. After avoiding the dentist for a decade, Dr. Harper has changed that.

I am 68 years old and have had a lot of dental work over the years. Some of my experiences were…read moregood and some not so good but I always took care of my dental health. In my early sixties I had a terrible experience with a tooth extraction at a "clinic" that was part of a chain. It took three visits to get the tooth removed and I was unable to be numbed completely. I was so traumatized I didn't want to get my teeth cleaned for fear of getting in the dentist chair again. I got up my nerve and started asking about dentist recommendation and Dr. Harper's name came up often. Dr. Harper was recommended to me by a woman I worked out with at the gym. She also had fear of going to the dentist until she started going to Dr. Harper. I have been going to Dr. Harper for many years now. He has filled teeth, put on crowns and referred me out when I had root canals and needed a tooth implant. I now have no fear of the dentist. Dr. Harper is kind, respectful and skillful to the point of having an artist for my teeth! Recently I decided to get veneers since my teeth were thin and grey looking from age. The process was not difficult. I had very little sensitivity during the temp stage and once the final product was placed there was no sensitivity. The entire staff at Dr. Harpers are warm, friendly and out for your best interest just like Dr. Harper. I wish there was a 10 star category because that is what I give Dr. Harper!!

But this lady doesn't know what she's doing, messed up my mouth, and charged me fortune. I will be paying this bill off for over a year and all I got was a cleaning and a filling replaced. She cut my tongue, left a huge blood bubble in my cheek and fused my two teeth together with the filling she replaced. I couldn't floss for days(not even sure if it was true it had to be replaced now maybe that was a scam too) Then, when I went back to fix it and told her about what happened, because I payed an insane price, she just gaslit me and said everyone's body is different so none of it is her fault and she did everything perfectly. She also charged me $300 for a retainer after the wisdom tooth removal (I obviously didn't go through with it, I went to another dentist after that, an actual dental surgeon) that I didn't use and then she wouldn't refund me or take it back. She forced me to get the mold done the day before the surgery, before I changed my mind after she messed up my mouth. Also, the surgeon I went to afterwards was amazing, he said that the retainer wasn't even necessary at all, and that theirs were only $100 and it's the exact same thing. On top of that, the surgeon i went to had to take new ct scans anyways because at smart dentistry my jaw was cut off on their Ct scan. I payed over $2,000 for everything. Needless to say I left smart dentistry in tears because I spent my last dollar there. Doctor sands did not care one bit.

I am still very uncomfortable and depending on counsel will consider my experiences here well into the future. I do not recommend this practice.

A specialist confirmed the bridge was made incorrectly and needed to be redone, but Dr. DeLeon didn't follow the specialist recommendation and pushed for a mouth guard instead. When she returned for the mouth guard fitting, he couldn't remove the bridge and caused her pain tryingIf the dentist couldn't remove the bridge how would she be expected to do it. Bc She didn't take the mouth guard. Worse, when I called the office to ask why they refused to prescribe a sensitive prescription toothpaste she had requested, to alleviate the pain the receptionist said they didn't need to prescribe bc my mother was no longer a patient. When I asked how they could do that since she requested the toothpaste out of desperateness and right after the mouth guard fitting failed, the receptionist said they would have to make an appointment and review her file.I told her that it didn't make sense since he had seen her when she asked for the prescription. She hung up on me--twice. Completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and dismissive. After paying $4,500, this is unacceptable. That woman should not be dealing with patients. She should be fired for her inappropriate and disrespectful behavior. To hang up on someone because they are seeking help with their 80 year old mother proves her uneducated, unprofessional and unacceptable manner. She was awful. Elderly patients and their families deserve better
