STAY AWAY!!!!!!! They told me they checked my insurance for a deep clean, they actually checked to see if I had insurance. They did not check to see if I was due for a deep clean to be covered by insurance. My first visit, I sat in the lobby 40 minutes past my appointment time, it was more like a regular cleaning. I paid $227 and they said insurance covers the rest. My second visit, I sat in the chair for 45 minutes while she was working on someone else before me. I paid $173 this visit, fast forward a couple months. I now get a bill for $781 because they said my insurance was not paying. I would have never sat in the chair if I knew it was going to cost $1200. Not to mention, it looked like all the equipment was in a flood( rusty, dirty looking.) I would not recommend Coastal Dental in Apopka to anyone. First, the lamp that they use to be able to look into your mouth was full of bugs. Second, the equipment is rusty, third the hygienist was supposed to do a deep cleaning in three of my quadroons, she did it in 10 minutes. When I asked, why was it so fast she said that I was missing some teeth and she just shrugged her shoulders. I also got charged $190 which when I complained how fast the hygienist did the cleaning they reimbursed me The $190.00. I spoke to my insurance company and Coastal had billed the insurance and the insurance paid them. Staff is very rude. They were even rude to the insurance company. If it could be minus one star it would! Wife was told consultation is $29. When arrived we had to wait for the receptionist to finish her casual conversation with a patron. Another lady waiting left angry screaming " you're wasting my time" we waited almost 10 minutes for receptionist to finish her casual conversation for actual acknowledgement of our presence. Dr. Alan took care of my father and did a great job. From the initial start I knew he would be a great dentist with honest advice with different options. He is friendly and very knowledgeable. Glad we chose him as the dentist. The prices were fair and not extreme like other places. Sometimes there is a wait even with appointment, they are always extremely busy. So make sure you're off work or allow sufficient time for the visit. Overall, we are satisfied and will be back for any other dental needs. :) read more

I was laughed at my 1st appointment! I arrived for my 2 pm appointment at 1:25 pm, their office was dark and their door was locked. The entrance door showed hours 8:30 am -5 pm. I knocked on the glass door but no one answered. I tried a few more times then stood holding myself up on a pillar because of my handicap. I tried calling their office but no answer. Then, a woman in blue scrubs walked out of the front door. I called to her asking to come inside for my 2 pm appointment, I medically needed to sit down. Her response was it was their lunch break, giggled at me, locked the door, and left me standing there. There was no notice of their lunch break. Shocked, I called for my ride to go home. Later, a patient opened the door and walked inside. I followed her in & sat down. No one was at the reception desk. Later, a man showed up at the reception desk. He laughed at me in the despair of my situation. He would not tell me his name. It brought me to tears! I went home and will NEVER recommend this office to anyone. read more

These people are thieves! I had tooth pain and went to this provider in my network. I'm new to this area and this was my first visit. Long story short dentist took forever to see me and when he came he was very aggressive while examining my teeth. They gave me a laundry list of things I needed which totaled over $1000 dollars. The assistant kept saying you really don't need this this and this so why the hell put it on the estimate?!? I paid my copay which I was told to pay and walked out. Next thing you know I get a letter stating I owe 79.99!! Tried calling the number on paper and left voicemails to get someone to explain. I've never left a dentist office with a balance due. You pay for the service while there before you leave.I just got a letter from collection agency for 79.99. I have a 800 credit score so I'm livid right now. Stay away from these crooks. read more

Worst Dentist I've been too! I went for a cleaning, I waited for more than a hour and just got a bunch of X-Rays done and for them to tell me they didn't have time for a cleaning. The dentist was wasting time dancing and singing, very unprofessional. When I called back the next day to see if they charged my insurance for the cleaning they put me on hold and never came back to the line. I hung up and called them 3 times and they refused to answer. When I called the 4th time I was sent to a call center which the man I spoke to told me this office scheduled a appointment for a crown. I NEVER confirmed this appointment and NEVER agreed to a crown. Very sketchy office, do not go! My first visit was great. Got my teeth extracted and my dentures. Was going to do my bottom teeth there. Very rude. They made my dentures and and I asked the new dentist there if she could realign my top. She told me that she didn't make them. I told her I know you didn't make them but your company did. Said she didnt want to be responsible for them if something happen to them. She must not feel to secure in her work. I will be calling there headquarters. I am very unhappy with my dentures. Everyone in the office knows it. Both pair have not fit well. I have continually heard why they don't fit. I was told to use more paste or get implants. I've spent over $3000 out of my pocket because I don't have insurance. I tried to file a complaint with corporate and it took almost a month for a return call. That was after using the website and calling the corporate office twice. I was told the district manager would call back but that never happened. I will no longer go to this location and recommend no one get dentures here. read more

I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews here but had a great experience . My teeth are pretty healthy so I did not need anything but a general cleaning. The front staff were polite and attentive. The dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth was informative and thorough. The dentist Dr. Wright came in to check everything after the cleaning with her assistant and she was cheery and I could tell that she was knowledgeable. They did not try to sell me anything that I didn't need and I felt gave me an honest assessment on my teeth. I will defenitely be returning for my check ups ! If anything were to be improved I would say it could look a little nicer . I could tell the equipment was older and worn and there was mold on the tiles on the ceiling in the room I was in . All the equipment used in my mouth looked clean though but I think the place could definitely use an update. read more

Went in for a routine cleaning, was recommended to get thousands worth of work done. I've NEVER had too many issues with my teeth and them telling me I had 8-10 cavities, needed a root canal, and also needed a crown done was absolutely asinine. I opted to pay for the more expensive and detailed cleaning because it had been a year, but come to find out they didn't do anything more than my previous dentist did on a regular cleaning. Complete rip-off, stay away from this office! ---Updated 10/12: after going to a legitimate office, I had a better cleaning this time where they didn't charge me for extra work that wasn't needed. Come to find out, after the X-rays here, I have one cavity, not the 8-10 that I was informed I had. Absolutely the most fraudulent office I've ever visited. Terrible experience. I went through all kinds of trouble getting my x rays from a previous dentist so that Coast wouldn't have to retake them. When I got there, I was trying to forward the receptionist the email containing my x rays and I was having trouble sending them. Not their fault, however, when trying to figure out the best coarse of action to get them the results, the receptionist completely ignored me. She did not answer my questions or respond. So I ended up sending them the email anyway and later they had me use their computer to access them using my private password. Then, once I had given the receptionist the x rays, I was taken back. A young girl pulled me along and started to take my x rays, I was llke, no, no, no.... that is just what I went through all the trouble doing beforehand. And then she says, Oh, you're here for an emergency? I was like no, I'm not here for an emergency I made this appointment two weeks ago and wrote in great detail what needed to be done. Obviously, no one read my notes. Then she sits me down in the chair and without changing her gloves to a fresh pair, she sticks her fingers in my mouth and starts to exam me. Then, she leaves and gets another girl. This second girl comes in and doesn't introduce herself. She just sits down and starts sticking her fingers in my mouth. I was like wait, who are you, then she said oh, I'm the thyassa rodriguez. So to end this story, the dentist ended up telling me what I already knew but at that point I was so disgusted with the lack of respect and dirty treatment that I ended up leaving. Me and my wife made and appointment for a general cleaning. We had our teeth cleaned every 6 months in Michigan for the past fifteen years. We moved here and Coast tried to charge us over 600.00 for a cleaning. I called other dentist office and they would only charge 199.00 for xrays and cleaning. I paid them 140.00 for nothing. I think they just take advantage of older people, just because they are the most vulnerable. We will find a family dentist that's more concerned with the patient then making large amounts of money. read more

Very disappointed in the service at this dental office. First, the front office experience was good. The office manager was polite and willing to work with me. However, they lied to me. Back in 2014, Coast Dental placed four crowns on my upper front teeth. My left front tooth has been broken since I was 8 years old, and I always have had it capped, and crowned back in 2001. The reason I did all four teeth was that I had a medium size (well...maybe large..lol) gap between my two front teeth and I hated it. So, they gave me the advice to do all four to make them look even, and I took their advice, which I do not regret. The problem is now, two years later, my left front tooth started to be sensitive to hot and cold, and there was a foul odor between the front left side of the teeth when I flossed. So, I went back because I had a warranty, and the new dentist there reviewed my charts, examined my teeth and told me that the far left crown tooth was not placed correctly on my gums and bacteria could have gone up into the tooth area and now might have a cavity. He stated the only way to correct it was to take the two crowns off, clean the teeth and might have to do root canals since that is why it is sensitive. I agreed, but I wanted to see if Coast Dentel would honor the warranty. I went back four weeks later, and the office manager informed me that same dentist wrote on my chart the teeth were decayed since 2014 and it was no fault of the crowns. With that written by the dentist, the warranty was not going to be honored (also because the warranty stated I must have two cleaning a year....which I did not do). But what gets me is why did the dentist lie? WTH???? So, I went to Sage Dental, and they informed me that I probably needed the root canal on my front left tooth, but the crowns are placed good on my gums, and the reason I had hot/cold sensitivity was that tooth was getting infected. They, Sage Dental in Apopka, drilled a tiny hole in the back of the crowned front tooth, did the root canal...cleaned it up and sealed it up......all without taking the crown off! And..get this.....I did NOT have any cavities on any of my front teeth....they are all good. Coast Dental lied to me about my teeth and wanted me to have all these additional procedures done. I don't know why, but I would assume to get more money! Remember, the Coast Dental dentist told me the only way to fix them was to take off the two crowns, maybe have root canals on both, and replace the crowns. Oh...that would have been way over $2000 when I only paid Sage Dental $900. Do not believe them...and if you have to have serious procedures....go and get another option. It is worth the extra time and effort on your part. read more

****BEWARE!**** BEWARE!**** BEWARE! SAVE YOURSELF NOW!!! They are a traveling circus that steals your money!!! We have had a most unfortunate experience of being taken advantage of financially and for my daughter, emotionally. We were tricked into feeling like my daughter needed to have the brackets put on "right now" to start treatment, BEFORE 4 permanent teeth were pulled (thus they can now technically and legally claim they provided the service of adhering brackets, even though they sat in my daughters mouth USELESS for 2 months with no wires, providing nothing but discomfort and bleeding cheeks and dietary restrictions. I tried to logically console her of this process but it was hard. I realized then that i should have done more research instead of going to the more long standing orthodontists that apopka provides. Location was one of the primary reasons I chose to go with them. 2 months after brackets were put on (on Halloween), her teeth were pulled (nov), and now its the day before Christmas....and she FINALLY had wires put in. I am told at that same appointment by Crystal "Ooohhh great news! were going to be moving out of the apopka office and you can now go to Lake Mary" as if this was a gift and that I would be overjoyed with her.... Lake Mary is 42 min away, Apopka office 8 min....it was then that I realized I had been tricked and lied to at our original consultation! As if they didn't know they were moving, or even POSSIBLY moving when we had our original consultation in oct on the 31st where I clearly expressed that location was important to me. They made no mention at ANY of the following appointments, until dec 24th, where they got the wires on my daughter and sealed the deal to trap me. We went to 2 appointments in lake mary for changing the wires.Between the 1st and 2nd appointment my daughter needed her wires clipped and there was nowhere to take her because they travel to so many locations and you cant physically speak with the orthodontist office because they are a separate entity from the general practice. It was at that 2nd appointment on Mar 1st when I had told Crystal that "no, this was not working out. This was not the deal I had signed that contract for. Im going to switch to the other local apopka orthodontist and when that is set up I will confirm with you that our contract is null and void" and with a pleasant smile she said thats fine, again not taking the opportunity to tell me theyd still be taking 165 dollars a month out of my account because somehow they think I still owe them money. Now, comin on 2 months later, 2 MONTHS, as of april 24th, I have still not yet heard a peep from the orthodontic team...my oh my, how she/ they/ the entire orthodontic team have conveniently disappeared, not returning any of my countless phone calls or messages at all locations and even emails sent from their own poncienna office to her resolving the termination of our contract from the march 1st date. I have even had to consort to dragging the general practice into this conundrum. however, they are clever in wording and now I am in a battle between them and UAS, the loan company, for money they say I owe. How I see it is I signed an agreement, a contract for the apopka office. They broke the contract by moving, they knew all along during the 1st 2 months and made my daughter endure unnecessary metal in her mouth for 2 months. so sad they are like that instead of being honorable, decent people that truly cared to meet the needs of the people they so horribly serve. read more

I must admit like most people, I hate going to the dentist. lol But what I can say is that the staff is super supportive. They make you feel at home, try to ease your discomfort. Dr. Wright is very personable and friendly. She make an effort to get to know all her clients. She made sure that I understood everything that was going on about my dental heath and explained why I needed to do certain procedures. Julio is super funny. He tries (lol) to make you laugh; to keep the anxiety down that most people have going to the dentist. Actually he does a pretty good job. You will love this office. *Beware* I made an "emergency" appointment at this office for a filling that fell out. I had my reservations about them previously and felt they lacked professionalism but wanted to give them a chance. I've only had one filling in my lifetime and it was done by this office a year ago. My "emergency" appointment was scheduled 2 weeks out but I waited because this was the original office I selected through my insurance. I was taken back rather quickly and had x-rays done. The dental assistant informs me that the filling fell out of another tooth, not the one Dr. Hackstie repaired; which is impossible since I've only had one filling. I was told that maybe I didn't know that I had a filling there which s also impossible. After waiting 40 minutes I was told that the doctor couldn't see me today because he was running behind and they had a staff meeting. The doctor never came into the area to speak to me or assess my need for emergency treatment. A lack of planning and poor time management turned into the problem of the patient. This office is extremely unprofessional, lacks empathy and has no concept of customer service. My dental concern was of no concern to Dr. Hackstie or his staff so I declined the opportunity to reschedule and made an appointment with a dentist who values and cares about their patients. read more

Coast dental used to be alright with me and now they are horrible to say the least. I went in for perio treatment and everything was okay and then all of a sudden, new hygienist, new doctor and new everything. I started receiving bills that I wasn't suppose to have been getting. I'm sitting there listening to a supposedly verified conversation with my insurance co. to confirm benefits and what would be or should be covered. Things I wasn't supposed to be charged or even have done because of frequency. I would call in and no one is there to handle my complaint. The response I get is that they are out of the office for the rest of the month!!!! Really what kind of dental office is this? They take your complaint and then state that they will email the manager and the manager will get back to you whenever that is. It's been literally two months. I tried to set an appointment with this office and they told me to just "come in." When I arrived, a patient was fleeing the office, stealing her partials. I wrote my name and sat in a chair. No one even came back to the desk for over 15 minutes while 3 more patients walked in. All of the chairs in the waiting room were tatterred and broken. To be completely honest, after reading some of the other reviews, I was apprehensive to go here to say the least. However, I am happy to say that the staff, and especially the new young and talented dentist, Dr. Hackstie, exceeded my expectations by a mile. The staff was great, but Dr. Hackstie was more than wonderful! He was professional, kind, gentle and really listened to me and my concerns. He offered me advice and provided me and my son with an all around fantastic dental experience. I never thought I'd have such good things to say about a dentist in my life. I was a patient at Coast Dental. The dentist Joseph Hackstie is a great guy. BUT..... I have called multiple times and left messages for an appt for emergency care, tried to make an appt online, and even paged the dentist. I have never received a call back for neither my daughter nor myself. I was an established patient there. NEVER ONCE a call back.. I will NEVER recommend anyone who needs dental care to go to this office! read more
