This is an absolutely STELLAR catering business. My brother hired them for his wedding, and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The dishes came out together, and the bride and wedding party got served first. The dishes, despite being plenty in amount, all came out warm and beautiful in appearance. They were constantly going around delivering dishes, cleaning up plates, and refilling water. I'm immensely happy with the experience. The staff were all wearing matching uniforms, so they were easily spotted and were also incredibly professional. Shortly after the ceremony, they came out multiple times with the hors d'oeuvres and sought out people who had asked to try the next batch when the plate was empty. They were very thorough and offered multiple times to make sure everyone was satisfied prior to the dinner. During the speeches, they were respectful and didn't come around or get in anyone's way. Truly, the best decision we made for our wedding was hiring Coast Catering. From our first interaction with Yvette, we knew right away that this was the right choice for us. If you are a bride deciding whether to hire Coast Catering and Crown Rentals for your wedding, stop scrolling book right now! We were new to the San Diego area when we got engaged, which meant we had no local knowledge of best vendors or caterers. Our wedding planners immediately recommended Coast Catering as the best in the business, and having now worked with them I can confirm they are incredible. Not only is the food amazing, but they are some of the kindest people to work with and the service they provide day of is beyond perfect. Our first introduction to Coast was at our tasting. The tasting was fun and the food was delicious. We so enjoyed meeting the incredible chef Barry Layne and Chelsea, the Director of Sales who worked with us throughout the wedding planning process. Barry and Chelsea were so kind and thoughtful with us during the whole tasting, answering our questions, letting us try multiple dishes and appetizers, and explaining to us how the process would work during the next year plus that we were planning our wedding. The hardest part of the tasting was deciding among the many delicious options. As I'm sure many couples can relate to, we have gone to a LOT of weddings during the last few years, and we understand from friends that even the best tasting is not always an indication of how the food will taste day of, when cooked for 150+ guests. Let me be clear: if anything, our food from Coast Catering was even BETTER on the day of the wedding than it was at the tasting, if that's possible. We picked the filet, petaluma chicken, and gnocci for our main dishes, and it was all incredible. We also can't speak highly enough about the arugula salad, which I wish we could eat every day of my life! And the other stars of the show were our passed appetizers: the tuna tacos, sliders, and mac and cheese bites. I could go on and on but to sum it up: it was all incredible, and I'm hoping to get invited to another Coast-catered event soon to eat it all again. A friend messaged us the day after the wedding and said: "I talk a lot about how nobody remembers food from weddings, but this may be an outlier for me." The only thing that was better than the food itself was Coast's service, which was spectacular. Our wedding planners advised us that a major reason to book with Coast is because they ensure the timing of everything is pristine, but I did not know how true that was with Coast until the day of our wedding. Flow is so important to ensuring your day goes smoothly, and Coast crushed it out of the park for us. The servers were so kind and served meals in sync, a small and wonderful touch that so many of our guests commented on and appreciated. I wouldn't change a thing about our day, and a lot of that is thanks to Coast's excellent execution of the food and service. And finally (I could go on and on, as you can see), what I appreciated so much was Chelsea's and Coast's attention to my husband and I the day of the wedding. Throughout the few months of planning prior to our event, Barry and Yvette were responsive and answered all of our questions. They took time out of their Saturday a few months prior to our event to see and walk our venue, mapped the locations for the food and bar stations and provided suggestions that made our event perfect. The day of the event, Yvette and her staff arrived early and performed the setup while staying in the background and out of the way. It was truly remarkable how they were able to prepare and assemble food and drinks for 100 guests and manage all of the logistics so we could focus on our day and our guests. We chose the tuna tartar tacos, Maine lobster cone, scallops, kobe beef burger, French fries, vasa salad and a vast selection of cheeses and charcuterie. Wow!!!! Can I just say how delicious this food is. We ordered the Enchilada meatloaf, Tri-Tip, Chicken salad, Mac n cheese balls, Chicken tostadas, Manchego bread and the ever so yummy brownies. So really we got 2 dinners and 2 lunches with plenty of leftovers for less than $100. We're a family of four and it was plenty of food. It was so delicious. Cooks up so well, they give you both oven and microwave directions. We did oven just because I think that's better. They thought of it all. Since COVID myself and about 10 other families in my close circle have repeatedly looked forward to their menus. We all order between 1-2 meals per week. We recently used Chef Barry through Coast Catering for our daughter's wedding in Temecula and we could not have been happier!!!! The appetizers were both scrumptious and beautiful. The Charcuterie presentation was gorgeous, the seafood station was chilled properly, refilled frequently and extremely high quality. The passed Truffle Macaroni cheese bites were the talk of the crowd, but not to be upstaged by the delicious ahi mini tacos. The main entree was an elegantly presented filet and sea bass duo. Although we had a "knife drop" service of a swanky steak knife, it really was unnecessary as you could cut the filet with a butter knife! The sea bass flaked perfectly and the plate presentation was truly a work of art. The dessert table did not disappoint with bite size spoonful smores, beyond belief brownies, and decadent strawberries glazed in a fashion similar to the topping on a creme brûlée. Then just in case after dancing you had space... we sipped mini Bailey's milkshakes and mini sliders! Chef Barry presented most of these items at our private tasting prior to the event, and delivered everything he promised and more. The most delicious meal and catering I have ever had. My husband and I were lucky enough to have Coast cater our wedding and we are already trying to plan future events so we can eat their delicious food again. We were so lucky to work with Chelsea who made everything we wanted possible. Coast Catering's drive thru date night has been such a SAVIOR during this whole pandemic isolation time. Not only is the entire process extremely easy but the food is amazing and affordable. The workers are all very helpful and accommodating and respect the no-contact rule by simply placing the food in the trunk of your car. Now on to the best part, the food, duh. You can get a fine dining meal and feed 4-6 people for under $10 each! If your idea of a good meal is chicken nuggets and fries, by all means more power to you and McDonald's is calling your name. If you're looking for a togarashi salmon with spinach, flame roasted sirloin, and a side of paella and veggies all for an extremely low price, well then I think you know where to go given the previous statements. I don't consider myself a "foodie" by any means but when I took my first bite, I was about to call the Food Network and get my own show judging dishes from all around the world. When we were searching for our caterer for our wedding, we narrowed it down to two different catering companies, and, of course, Coast was one of them. We scheduled a tasting with them, and away we went on our journey of delicious food. Our tasting was amazing, Chef Barry presented multiple appetizers (tuna tartare tacos were Emily's favorite and the sliders were mine), salads (we went with the delicious burrata caprese salad), entrees (all were incredible), and the dessert (half baked chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream, which completely sold me). The experience was fun as Chef Barry paired the food with wine, and we all had a great hour plus time of trying delicious food! After COVID took over and restrictions were put in place, we all had to adapt. Chelsea was our main point person before and during the wedding and she was great to work with throughout the whole process. Our wedding shrunk drastically, but Coast let us use the deposit as our whole payment, which worked out perfectly. We wanted to do another tasting of the red meats for our dinner option since we ended up switching from stations to a plated "tasting" menu style dinner, and we were able to do a take-out tasting when indoor restrictions were still in place. Coast was flexible and easy to work with in every which way throughout this process. The day of the wedding was great. We had Coast drop off lunch (delicious slider-like burrata caprese sandwiches, turkey croissant sandwiches, and a custom salad we asked for), which was delicious! The bartender was great, Chelsea was amazing in dealing with any obstacles throughout the day, and the food overall was amazing. Every one of our guests was wowed by the hors dourves, the meal, and the cheese plate we had Coast leave as a late night snack. The team worked seamlessly and produced great food all while working in the kitchen of a home they had never been to! This is an amazing service - I can't believe how friendly, efficient, and awesome they were at the dinner they catered for my grandpa's 80th birthday! Before dinner we were served appetizers (3 different ones that were all amazing) all small enough to eat in one bite without looking ridiculous. Once we were finished with those, we had a buffet style dinner that was absolutely gorgeous. There were rolls with herb butter, a pomegranate and goat cheese salad, mushroom risotto, chicken, salmon, and a quinoa salad. I could not believe how beautiful everything looked, and how everything was made in such a timely fashion. Definitely had some stand out dishes that I'd recommend: the mushroom risotto, and the goat cheese/pomegranate salad. I've never had a risotto that I've liked enough to have seconds of, but this one had me thinking about it the next day! The two who did our small event (James/Jim?) were so friendly and really made our evening one to remember. We didn't have to lift a single finger - they did 100% of the set up and clean up, leaving us with leftovers to serve as dinner for the next day!
