We used to have Coal Fire in Virginia, and it was my favorite pizza place. We were lucky enough to stumble upon this one on our way to Lancaster! The service was exceptional, as the server was very attentive to our needs and the food was prepared in a decently quick manner. The pizza was 12/10 and the French fries we ordered were very crispy and delicious. Coal fire lets you choose your sauce, so we chose the medium spice one. It was the perfect amount of flavor. For splitting between 4 people, this was an incredible deal for the price we paid. The restaurant was nice and had a nice atmosphere. It's also near Wegmans and Tous Les Jours... so lots of fun places for post dinner exploring! read more

I had dinner with a good friend just yesterday evening at Coal Fire. When we initially arrived, there weren't many people there, but after a while, it was a packed house! The ambience was chill and comfortable and our waitress was nice. The food, however was kinda sorta subpar, besides one particular stand out item. Now, I won't say don't give this place a try, I really think it's worth a chance and I'd even give it a second shot! I'll start with my meal. I ordered the mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad and meatballs with no cheese. The mozzarella sticks are large and were pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but decent nonetheless. The salad was fresh, and simple- just like you'd imagine a simple Caesar salad would be. The meatballs were a bit disappointing, unfortunately. Now the meat itself was fresh and homemade, I could definitely tell. But there was a serious lack of seasoning and without the mountain of mozzarella cheese, it just wasn't worth the price point. Now this was my first time here and I did see a couple of items that I still wanted to try, which is why I'd be willing to come back. My friend ordered a margarita and said that it was very lime-y/strong, but still drinkable (ie, not terrible). She ordered a pizza with onions, pepperoni and sausage (this place makes thin crust pizza only, so be mindful of the number of toppings you add- it could make the pizza a bit soggy). It came out very delicious looking, but my friend did mention that it could've been baked a minute or two longer. She also ordered French fries. The order of fries were HUGE- you can definitely share them with your party. The star of the WHOLE MEAL for me was the onion rings!!! I was not expecting them to be that delicious, but they were! They were lightly battered and seasoned very well. The dipping sauce that came with them uwas sooooo good. Garlicky and just delightful. You could put the dip on a burger or dip your fries in it! I honestly would come back for the onion rings alone! We didn't have dessert, but they do offer cannolis. As I mentioned, they deserve a shot, and I'd come back. It's not a five star restaurant, but it's a pretty decent establishment that is obviously popular with the locals. Try'em out! read more

Phone did not eat first here. The pizza here is truly the best. The tomato sauce is sweet and the dough is crispy and chewy. We also got salads which are always fresh. Service is perfect for a pizza place and prices are extremely fair! read more

Food was great and orange crush was on point, we had a few! We loved the sauce on the pizza and meatballs. Only complaint and keeping from a 4 star review is the kitchen was a little slow for our liking. It was a Saturday night around prime dinner time and looked to be a lot of carry out orders. Definitely a good spot to check out! read more

Food is always good at Coal Fire. I've usually gone in the Columbia location but we stopped by at this location on our way back to MD and had mixed feelings about the service. Again as noted, the food was delicious. Pizzas are one of the best around here and their spicy sauce is above any other sauce I've tested other than homemade. However, their service could be improved. The server was fine to come and take order from us really quickly and the food was out on our table soon as well. However, when we were done, I had to go inside to ask someone to get our check and even then they told me they couldn't help me, only the server could. The whole process took 20 min after asking for the check. There were some other minor issues as well throughout the service. read more

Sat in the bar area for dinner tonight. Food was delicious sadly no pictures because it was just that good . Service was excellent provided by Sean the awesome bartender and the ambiance was amazing. However no apple cider for any of the Apple drinks whether mocktail or cocktail so that was a bit of a disappointment but I think it's not quite fall yet . read more

They gave me a gift card for my last review so I used it to get a quick cheesesteak to go and they forgot the fries. Had to wait several minutes for them and they come out dry bland. And one more thing. I get its a restaurant so the prices are higher, but $15 for something not restaurant quality and such tiny portions is just so upsetting. Dont really know what to say anymore about this place. I gave 3 stars bc the cheesesteak tasted decent and the service was friendly again where i almost feel bad about giving something lower read more

Nice variety of pizza and are very good . The coal oven imparts a very crispy crust . Wings are good too

Two thumbs up - good food, great service, very clean! Great atmosphere! Will definitely come again.

The food was good. Small space. Restaurant and bar. All staff was masked. Alcohol hand wash in front. Excellent service. The wedge salad had lots of bacon that tasted honey soaked. Lots of onions and tomatoes. No bread or extras. You get what you order. But food was plenty for a meal. read more

My boyfriend and I recently dined here and prior to my boyfriend and I eating here I've eaten here previously and every time I've eaten here it's been a phenomenal experience. The food is always delicious, the service is great and the atmosphere is very inviting and friendly. The waitstaff is always very friendly knowledgeable and is always very efficient with bringing food drinks and even refills to the table. Highly recommend this restaurant for dining read more

Met some family friends we haven't seen in a while for lunch. We got side Caesar salads and a pepperoni pizza with half of it with mushrooms for me. Salads were solid. Pizza was solid too. They had 3 options for sauce; classic, signature, & a spicy option. We went with signature which was on the sweet side. For me, pizza in the Baltimore area is polarizing because by & large the pizza here sucks. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. We had an order of fries too. They looked like shoe string fries & they were good too. We're gonna go back at some point soon to try other stuff. read more

I ordered the small cauliflower pizza with extra cheese, olives and mushroom and an order of the onion rings. Well, not good! The extra cheese wasn't extra and if I didn't get the extra cheese I would hate to see what regular cheese look like. The pizza crust was over cooked. The onion rings were oily and soggy! I had to put them in the air fryer to make them edible. To top it off it cost me $26 + $2 tip. I won't be back. read more

It's a good pizza. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best around, but it's good pizza. The signature sauce is amazing, it's on the sweet side. So, if you're one of those sugar doesn't go in spaghetti sauce type of people, please be warned, you will not enjoy the signature sauce. Needless to say I'm a fan. This was my second time visiting this establishment and my first experience was much more enjoyable. Giving it three stars for this visit because the hostess sat us at what appeared to be a clean table, but it was just a cleared old table. It hadn't been wiped down or sanitized and my 9 year old was disgusted. He went back and asked the hostess if she could wipe the table down or change our seats. Lol. She came over very apologetic and wiped down the half of the table where we were actually sitting. The other half of the table still had crumbs from the last party. Anyway, give them a try if you're a fan of coal fired pizza-you won't be disappointed. Cheers to a great time! read more

On 6 Jan 2023, I had dinner at this restaurant. I had eggplant parmesan and spaghetti with the house salad. The food and the service were good. Ms.y patrons were enjoying the pizza. Although I was seated and served within acceptable service times, for many the wait was REALLY long. A lady who was waiting for her carryout order when I walked in was still waiting for her food when my main course was served--she finally just left. If I'm in the area again I will order the oven-prepared Coal Fire wings, they looked delicious. read more

My first time back in a while did not disappoint. The Caesar salad and pizza were great but what really made the evening was the manager taking the time to get to know us and made us feel like a part of the Coal Fire family. She went above and beyond to check on us and anticipate our needs, we will definitely be back. I can't say enough good things about this experience and how management cultivated a phenomenal evening. read more

Coal fire is pretty reliable for a delicious thin crust pizza and great options for appetizers. However i do not recommend the bruschetta. The tomatoes were not fresh and the cheese was flavorless. Haven't been here in a few years so I decided to pop in for lunch with my mom. We started off with house and caesar salads. The salad portion was just right and the dressings tasted homemade. We ordered the 12" margherita pizza to split. Pretty sure they forgot to put our pizza order in as we noticed people seated after us got their pizzas before we did but no biggie since we weren't in a rush. The crust had a nice crisp to it and the sauce was just sweet enough. I am bummed that they no longer have their candied bacon on the menu, that was a fav topping of mine. read more

Great food and service. BUT, with no 'entryway' past exterior doors (restaurant and bar area), we were COLD the entire meal. With the lack of something to divert outside cold air, we will not be returning until temps are warm. Note, we were seated in the back of restaurant. read more

We are regulars and really like the pizza. It can get pretty busy, service is good, and they have outdoor seating for nice weather. The pizza is fresh, salads are good, and they do a ton of takeout. read more

My wife had a grilled romaine salad with chicken and I had a chicken parmigana sandwich. Both earned the distinction of the worst-ever restaurant food we've ever eaten. The pizza might be a different story, I don't know, but I'd avoid everything else on the menu based on our experience. read more

In the area for a wedding and wanted some zaa! And this was a chain that I've never been to so we figured we'd give it a shot. Pizza is very okay, nothing earth-shattering, and service got our order right. But we got some chicken on on pizza and it was super dry. Was not very clean, the bottoms of the dishes were dirty, and were stacked on top of each other dirtying the food side of other plates. DO NOT SIT OUTSIDE, we came in early-mid September and were assulted by flies and bugs. It was not hot out, actually it was a very nice day, but the bugs ruined the meal. Subsequently sitting outside also didn't allow us to receive the best service as well. Service was just slow to check on us and we had to step inside to receive the check. But honestly, if it wasn't for being outside I can't give an accurate review on service. All in all, meh food, dirty plates, and the insect invasion; I'm hesitant to go to another coal fire for a while. read more

We went here yesterday for dinner. We were seated by the hostess. 5 minutes later a few more table were seated. Their waiter brought them plates and took their drink order. 10 minutes in we were still sitting there not knowing who was waiting on us. We decided to ask for a manager to voice our complaint. He said he was sorry and never offered to get us a waiter. Worst costumer service I've experienced in a long time. read more

Flew in today from Vegas to visit family and he took us to this small pizza joint in the center of the shopping center in the Hunt Valley area. We got wings but FYI they come w grilled onions and veges We opted for plain salt n pepper/thyme wings. They were tasty. Ordered a kind of off the menu meal-blackened chicken w/Alfredo & penne pasta. The chicken was good and the Cajun type sauce was delish. Shared the dish w the regulars and said they shud order it next time. Two thumbs up. Caesar salad was a small side portion that came w the meal- wish it had more dressing bc it had a great flavor. I was too tired to ask for more dressing lol. Overall a good family friendly clean atmosphere w/friendly waitstaff. read more

My favorite thing to order is signature sauce, sundried tomatoes, and chopped basil. It is delish. I also recommend sitting in the bar area with tvs. I've also tried their prosciutto bites which would be more aptly named ricotta bites. They're good and better than something like a mozzarella stick if you are going to be pairing them with pizza. They also have wings (no boneless) and a few salads/pastas/entrees but I have not tried those. Coal Fire Pizza has a solid selection of wines by the glass and some good happy hour and late happy hour deals. Overall, I recommend if you're in the mood for pizza! read more

The house pizza sauce is amazing! We had two phenomenal pizzas. Lots of toppings and a crust that was perfectly crispy and chewy.

I love coal fire. The drink and food deals are soooo good and cheap. The quality of everything is amazing. The pizza is to DIE FOR. & their Cesar salad is my absolute favorite (and I'm not a huge salad person) but THIS is my fav ever! I always create my own when I come. I've always sat bar side and I love the indoor and out door seating options. Every bartender is super nice and can hold a good conversation. My favs are Liam and Shelby! read more

If you, like my husband, enjoy thin, crispy pizza or, as he prefers, charred crust- they can do it here. Sauce is at times too sweet. Authentic feel of the pizza restaurants we enjoyed in Naples, Italy, but with a much better crust. Fun place for kids and informal family lunch. Good salads. The bar on the other side of the dining room always seems to have patrons. In good weather, buy a bottle of wine and a pizza, sit outside and watch the shoppers parade by. read more

The signature sauce is amazing (I find it weird that others didn't like it, personally... But maybe they are not fans of sweet sauces?). We got it on the margherita pizza, which was also good. The thin, crispy crust was just right and the little bit of melted cheese on top was delicious. The chopped basil pieces added a little bit of flavor to the whole thing. Service was good - friendly server who gave us refills when we needed them. All in all, not a bad place, and not too expensive either. It was $16 before tip for a pizza and a Pepsi. We fed two adults and one 9-year-old for this amount. read more

Food is great. Execution of the menu by kitchen and waitstaff is horrible. They will screw up the order at a rate of approximately 75%. My kids love the product. Yet they rarely deliver on the correct order, cooked the correct way. Be prepared to drive back to fix it. I once said something to the Shiroky brothers who were visibly annoyed that I bothered them at the golf club. Perhaps if they were ever in the restaurant they would execute better. Good thing for nepotism. read more
