Prosciutto pizza
Babette S.

Service was excellent, waitress was friendly and attentive. We started with a couple salads and the house cured wings. Salads were good enough but I didn't enjoy the wings at all. They're smothered in grilled onions which were delicious, but the wings themselves had no flavor at all to them. We got the prosciutto pizza which was yummy, a nice crispy crust but nothing spectacular.

My husband and I had carryout pizza for dinner one night. It was my first time trying Coalfire despite living in the neighborhood for eight years. We ordered a custom pizza with chicken and onions. It was delicious with just enough of each topping we ordered. It hit the spot after a long day and I look forward to trying more of their pizzas in the future!

Grilled Caesar Salad - split (really good!)
Lisa G.

I really enjoyed the pizza. We had a Margherita with signature sauce (instead of classic). I also split a grilled Caesar salad, which was very good. My daughter got spaghetti and meatballs. She didn't care for the meatballs, but the sauce was tasty. My youngest ordered kids chicken tenders with fries; they were what you might expect. The fries are skinny, which provides a nice texture, but they needed more salt. The restaurant inside is pretty generic. Overall, solid choice and I would order pizza regularly, if I lived closer.

Next to our table

We normally love this place so hopefully this is a temp situation but they are currently understaffed (8/1/25). Our food was taking ages while other tables around us who had sat down after us were eating...I asked a runner about our food, and it came out instantly. But clearly the food had been sitting and waiting a long time. My chicken Parm was not only overcooked (unrelated to sitting out), but was cold and looked dry, and the pasta was crusty. I was assured that my daughter's pasta was fresh, although that was very questionable as well. The manager offered to remake my dish, however I am certain that they just heated up the same dish , added fresh cheese, and gave it back to me - it had been cut and was exactly as overcooked. The pasta had more sauce on it than needed. The manager told us that he would comp our entire meal, but when I brought it up to the waiter, he said that they would take a percentage off. We watched as the manager bussed tables and dealt with to go food that was clearly not going smoothly. The waiter admitted they were understaffed. There was some something that looked like wet rained-on cake on the ground next to us and stuff all over the seat, as if the place had not been properly prepped and cleaned for dinner. Overall, the worst experience we've had here.

Baked Crabby Mac

First time trying this place and it was good! Had the right amount of crust and their crab Mac & cheese was good. Nothing bad to say about this place. I would definitely order from here again! Thanks Coal Fire

Back home, I finally was able to taste it. It reminded me of beach boardwalk pizza which is a good memory from my childhood and with tip it only cost me $12.

It's a straightforward, family-run place in Olde Town--nothing fancy about the setup, just a solid local spot that focuses on getting the food right. Their pizza is consistently good. The crust holds up, the cheese melts the way you want it to, and the sauce has actual flavor instead of just tasting like plain tomato. I've ordered a few different pies over time and they all come out the way you'd hope from a neighborhood pizza shop. The pasta dishes are generous and reliable too if you're in the mood for something other than a pie. It's the kind of place where you order takeout or swing by for a quick meal and don't overthink it. Service is friendly and no-nonsense, which fits the whole vibe. For a local pizza option that's dependable and doesn't try too hard, Freddy's does the job well. It's one of the spots I still recommend when someone asks where to get a solid pie nearby

Really surprised by La Speranza,…read more When the waitress said the pizzas were "personal pizza" size; I assumed it's the usual, small Neapolitan style pizzas for a high price, but the pizza came out bigger than I expected. You can taste the quality of the dough and it was nice and firm, but chewy at the same time--very good! The cheese did not slide off upon picking up (had the most mid pie at Modo Mio in Arlington) and the toppings were also pretty solid. Service was not the most enthusiastic, but not the worse; I cared more for the pizza. Thought about whether this place is a 4 or 5 star and what decides that is if I'd come back and I definitely will. We'll give them a 5 star!!

I really liked the wood fired grill taste. The pizza disappeared quickly. Great tasting sauce and melted cheese. We also ordered the calamari. It was perfectly fried and full of flavor. It also disappeared quickly. We ordered the meatball appetizer, but it had too much sauce and cheese for an appetizer. I would have preferred bigger meatballs and less sauce. Lastly, we ordered the spaghetti bolognese. It was good. But, one of our group said the sauce was not memorable. He compared it to a Mama Lucia's. The restaurant itself is clean, well organized, and comfortable. I would definitely go back for the pizza and calamari.
