Constance does a great job of working different parts of your body each session, so that you can come back for more the next day.

Back in Dec 2012, my girlfriend and I were both thinking "We really need to start doing something…read moreabout working out." We had become aware of BFit b/c I had been doing serious web research into gyms in the area. We had already been to check out Oak Park Tennis Club, and I had previously been a member at FFC, and we were considering some other things like an independent spinning class. We were trying to find something that would be not only affordable, but effective at keeping us on track. We decided to walk by BFit on one of our walks, to see what it's like. When we walk by they were finishing a class, so we didn't want to walk in necessarily, just peek at the services they offered on the door, but one of the staff there saw us looking and invited us in. That was the beginning of a wonderful 8 months of Personal Training with Darryl. We only went once a week, which is too little to actually lose a lot of weight without doing anything else, but we still went from huffin-and-puffin after no-more than 20 situps at the start, to working through 2-3 sets of 70 situps, not to mention all the squats, squat kicks, TRX, and crazy-things-Darryl-would-invent-on-the-fly-that-we-never-could-have-conceived-of-on-our-own that we did. Darryl was always very positive, cheerful, inventive, motivating, real, and funny. As Darryl will tell you, "he's got jokes" :). Darryl regularly pushed our limits, but also respected them - if i mentioned that something didn't feel right, he changed up the exercise, and could always take into account my bad knees. We moved away from Oak Park back in April, we have kept going to Darryl for over 4 months, but eventually, distance and scheduling has just gotten to be too much of a hassle for my girlfriend and me (not Darryl's fault, he was always super accomodating with our schedules). And so, alas, we are left to find something else nearer to us that's as good. In addition to Darryl, with whom we built a strong relationship, all the staff at BFit is awesome. My girlfriend took a couple group classes as well, and it is just such a wonderfully friendly place to truly workout, and get your butt kicked. We credit Darryl with kickstarting our fitness and being a wonderful human being in the process. We'll miss you Darryl! - T&G

This place is absolutely amazing! Lynette and her team of fitness professionals are upbeat,…read morepositive, fun, motivational and all around winners! I've been attending the Saturday morning bootcamp - 7:45AM for $9 cash - and I see and feel a difference in my body and my spirit. They encourage you to push yourself while being respectful of your limitations and instructing you to listen to what your body is telling you. There are ALL age ranges, ALL fitness levels, ALL body types and EVERYONE is made to feel welcome and part of the party. It's inclusive, diverse and fun! And this is a serious bootcamp, so you will sweat and work hard and get your work-out money's worth, so make sure to bring a little towel and a bottle of water (or you can buy one there). I really like that you don't have to make a long-term commitment with a membership and can pay by the class. They do have package-deals that offer savings, but I haven't taken advantage of them. If there's any drawback it would be that the space is a bit smallish, so the bootcamp experience may seem a little chaotic to someone more accustomed to Bally's, YMCA or Fitness Formula Club, but Lynette and her team make the space work. I have been a member at all of the places mentioned above and I will say that BFit is by far and away the most fun, most challenging, most positive work out I've ever had. Honestly, this is a fantastic place with great people and positive energy! If you want to get beach-body ready or just need to move a bit more and want to have fun while you're doing it, this is the place to go!

It's time that I "weigh in"... with my opinion of the Bulldog Boot camp - Forest Park, IL…read more I brought a group-on for forty dollars with the intent of empathizing with my daughter who had recently completed "real" boot camp. I had twelve sessions, (three times a week for four weeks). This, of course, was just a tasting of what my daughter had to go through. I'm an early riser so I went for 5:30 in the morning - which is great that health facilities are "waking-up" to those of us who like to get a work-out before work! Although, I was on vacation, (I'm a teacher). I also think that it's important to note that I'm over 50 and I have a chronic health condition - that affects my lungs, joints, and soft tissue. I was also on chemo and steroids for eight years, as this all factors into this review. When I called to register for the sessions I explained that I checked the reviews on yelp and checked out the videos and I didn't see any one like me, but I was assured that I was not alone - and I was not. There were others who had weight issues, but no over 50 woman, some close, but not so much but... ....Let me emphasize - EVERYONE WAS VERY KIND! EVEN THE OTHER "campers". My initial visit was a shock after not really having a routine program for about the entire school year. I could do NOTHING!!! BUT! EVERYONE WAS VERY KIND. So, I returned! :-) Three days for four weeks - just to hear my last name barked out... Such sweet music to mine ears. It reminded me of my high school ROTC days - I often saluted with my left hand. I was easily flustered then as well, when barked at:-) Still, the exercise routine, although very rigorous, was great to get me up and moving. I can do squats, which translates into normal life in that, I can go up and down the stairs relatively without pain and without taking one stair at a time, (this was my life as recent as two months ago). I can do push-ups, sit-ups that are like crunches, and I have more energy - I can stay awake pass 10. Wow! I used to fall asleep around 8:00 - 8:30. My daughters numbers one and two, (number three is in the army - I also have sons one, two and three - YES! That means I have six children); noticed that I have some muscle tone/definition in my arms. I lift ten pound weights everyday now. There is much more that I can do that I could not do, thanks to those twelve sessions of boot camp. Sadly, I had to stop because as a teacher there is a real threat of striking, (no, I'm not with CPS, but another district), and I could not justify paying money that could be needed later for things like food, the mortgage, utilities, gas... The boot camp rate is fair, although, I did ask about a discount, (there are discounts for public servants, police and fireman, veterans and students - not teachers). I've continued pretty much the same routine that was presented to me and it does produce results. Something that the boot camp did that I don't, is time myself. I never cared if I came in first, (which I never did) or last - which was always me. I guess I'm not very competitive. At my stage of the game I care about moving forward, (I was NEVER one for not moving - I am always busy, but busy and exercise are not synonymous - you may quote me :-) The owner always said that we were better than the guy that never gets up and does anything - that we were off of the sofa, (I rarely sit on my sofa and I don't watch t.v.). Overall, this is a great social sports fitness program for the young to middle aged adults who like competition and direction, (like from a drill sergeant - Gio, I know you're a softy and Wendy - you are prefect at encouragement and enthusiasm). Hopefully, I'll be back during a break from school, (even if we don't strike I leave for school at 5 in the morning to get to school for 6 to set up for the dears that come at 7 and then I don't leave until about 5 in the evening - I think this alone makes me a public servant :-). Carry on troops!

I am updating my review now that my first twelve weeks are complete…read more I have enrolled again in the Mon, Wed, Thurs 6:30pm Lincoln Park class. As a routine gym-visitor, this program initially tested my outdoor running abilities during the first six weeks. After twelve weeks, even with the colder weather, I have signed up to do it again. Activities vary each workout (they almost never repeat exactly) ... the workouts involve a good deal of interval running - some hills, some sprints, some beach workouts next to Lake Michigan, some longer distances (not more than about a mile at a time). Strength training is on the ground, rain or shine: push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, core, etc... with advanced versions of each. This program is highly recommended. I like the motivation of a scheduled time and group of people working together. I should add - it is no surprise that there are both low and high ratings for this bootcamp - it isn't for everyone. If you're looking for a solid workout three times a week and don't mind dressing appropriately, this is a great way to get into shape and lose pounds. They also offer a free trial week so that you can see what you're getting into. - Jason

I regret to inform my fellow members at ohare crossfit that i am no longer a member there. i would…read moreimagine, that as a business owner who values their members that they would do the same. Unfortunately this is not the case at O'hare crossfit. I spoke with a coworker of Angelo's on Friday March 13 about some sexually inappropriate comments that Angelo Sisco had made during the course of the class hoping to nip it in the bud. Unfortunately, on Monday March 15 Angelo continued to make some more comments that I alone disapproved of and made me feel uncomfortable, bordering on the line of sexual harassment. I thought about his comments for the next day and decided to text him letting him know that I disapproved of his comments that were sexual in nature while I was working out in the same class as my dad and if he'd refrain from making such comments while I was working out with my dad. He said he would get back to me the following afternoon but never did. I went in to class today and was informed that my membership had been cancelled without any explanation. I considered Angelo a close friend for many years and never discredited him from helping me get to where I'm at today. If, as a business owner, let alone a friend, you cannot communicate with your clients or your friends in an open manner and immediately ban them from your business without hearing or listening to their concerns then you should not be in business. I have seen this person's true colors and how he operates in situations where he is in the wrong. I went in today with the best intentions hoping to put this behind us, as it was not as drastic or nearly dramatic as to what he made it out to be however, I feel that in order to protect my good character and forewarn any other client that may be offended or have any valid concerns to please proceed with caution. I never attacked his character, for he has none. I am disheartened that someone would go to such extremes but I do understand and people that do not conduct themselves in a professional and honorable manner in front of clients own family and friends is one that should not be trusted. It is important to own up to your actions, especially in moments when you are wrong. No one is perfect. I have seen a side of this person and am shocked to learn that he is the complete opposite what he practices and preaches. I have learned a valuable lesson and that is to always watch what comes out of my mouth, treat people with the utmost respect that I value and care about and own your mistakes. I hope no one ever has to experience the disgusting nature of this person like I did. Furthermore, I don't expect anyone to quit either. I just want to put out there my experience after having been a member for so many years and the abhorrent treatment I received.

Mark and Becca and all the other trainers were amazing! ***The cons: the manager specific to the la grange location- she has been discussed here before and, I'd agree she definitely needs to be retrained in people service skills. I understand that the rules are important and that you can only cancel with 8+ hrs notice or be charged an additional fee if 12$ each time.... but I could not always do that with my schedule and family life and I paid the extra fee quite a few times over 18 months without complaining or pushback bc I understand the rules. However, the manager likes to make people feel like they've done something quite wrong even if they pay the fee. The attitude is what made me cancel my membership at OT LA GRANGE! I love OT and I'll be joining elsewhere possibly but the manager there was condescending and had few people skills. She instead couldn't t read the room or situation even at the holidays. She sometimes she acted more like a parent scolding you than a customer service manager... She scolded me about a few various things over the months... for example while I was cooling down after class one day (and the trainer told us to stay in as long as we like), I took that to mean I could cool down from my run for a very quick 3 minute slow walk. Well, she suddenly turned off my treadmill and everyone else's before everyone had gotten off. She did this a lot. She seemed to do this quite often in the evening near the end of the class even if there were no class behind us. One day during OPEN GYM with only one other person in the gym, I had pulled out my phone to open my OT app specifically and check my heart rate and progress during my open gym workout. the large screen was not showing heart rates up on screen in the gym. I was only one of 2-three people in the gym yet she runs in and lectures me while I'm on the treadmill and tells me to put my phone away. I complied but I tried to explain I was just checking my heart rate bc it helps me stay on track during OPEN GYM. She just continued with this hardline about how you can't have your phone out anytime in the gym even if you're not on it, and it's a rule to keep everyone focused on their workout....I said ok, sure.... But then can we get the heart rates put up in the above monitor? She said "no we don't display them usually during open gym..... ugh." But now I noticed the DO put them up during open gym which makes much more sense. It was about the way she ran in and spoke in a scolding manner. ***Another time I came in and was stretching at the end of my workout- it was right after the noon class and Mark told me I could stretch. The manager, same person, turns off the lights in the workout area from somewhere over in front, but- hmmm not very welcoming. I have no idea why she did that they didn't lose electricity and the gym was open. Not to mention the attitude she displays for canceling a class even if you request just to switch to a later class the same day. It seems to be a big deal for her (not others) and even if you pay for the top unlimited membership, be aware you still can accumulate 12$ up charges if you have a busy schedule and can't cancel before the 8 hr mark... if my work needs me late or a kid gets sick I'd usually eat those fees. But the attitude from the manager is just silly and ridiculous. Another time she scolded me for walking into the main area with my street shoes on. They were clean but it was winter and wet outside. I obviously understood I had to clean my shoes but she ran over and asked me why I hadn't brought a second pair to change into bc I was supposed to do that each class. I had never heard that and had never been told that honestly. I had been a member for about 2 months when that happened. She claimed I definitely had been told this before. I honestly NEVER been told that and rarely saw other change their shoes before going into the gym but often during rainy days people would wipe the bottom of their feet with clothes the team had put out. But again her attitude was condescending and silly. I decided even though I love OT classes and trainers, I'm done with La Grange. Hope the next OT manager I join with will have better reasonable attitude to keep everyone feeling great about their workouts. I was able to manage the cost while still getting strong but I know others may find the 8-12 hr cancellation policy difficult m. I'll go further to get what is appropriate for me. Attitude is everything.
