The gym and the trainers here are good and you will have a good time in their classes. HOWEVER I moved and wanted to join a new gym across the street from my house. Had a no contract membership. For 4+ months now I am STILL getting monthly charges and had no clear resolution on this, despite repeated calls and emails (which they refused to answer after the initial inquiry). There is another reviewer on here who had the same problem and for some reason their review has be removed from the business's rating. This review and theirs should absolutely be apart of this business's rating and visible to potential members. if you want to come here and work out and have a good time, go for it. you will get what you pay for. but if you ever need/want to leave to go somewhere else. good luck with that. you will be dealing with monthly charges for the rest of your credit card's life. read more

Nothing relieves stress and relaxes me more than hitting something. I thoroughly enjoy yoga, but the zen I feel after yoga is nothing compared to after boxing. I've been coming here for over a year with ClassPass. It's actually one of three places in my regular CP rotation. Boxing is a great workout; I'm usually a tired, sweaty mess by the end of a class. The instructors are great and do their best to pair students by ability, so it doesn't feel intimidating. They're also good and keeping an eye on form and technique. The workouts vary, so it never feels routine or boring. Unanimous also has workout facilities in their basement, but I've never used those. What I have seen of the first floor though is always clean and well maintained. If you're looking to box, beginner or not, this is a great gym. read more

I've been to several different boxing gyms around the city and Unanimous is definitely a top choice. Their trainers and staff are top notch. You will walk in a beginner and leave feeling like you can dominate the sport. They have also taken alot of safety precautions and have measures in place in order for you to workout safely. They have two locations, one in Logan Square and one in the West Loop. Both locations have the latest safety protocols in place. I came back because boxing is a hobby that you definitely need to keep up with. Both gyms are equipped with not only boxing gear and equipment bit they have standard gyms machines and weights as well to fit your needs. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

This boxing gym has great coaches that are very attentive to the students and they have very good knowledge of Boxing Unanimous Boxing Gym has an app as well where you can schedule what class you want that fits your time so this is a plus for me because I work full-time and I still have a chance to go to the boxing gym also they have two different classes. One goes by code Boxing, which is just a Boxing Gym, Boxing theory, and the other one is strength and conditioning versus jazz conditioning. They have both of those every day and very flexible times for everyone I could be as early as 6:30 AM to like 8pm the only thing I don't like that they don't really spar it takes a while a long time is it be able to spar in their ring bar with other students they believe that they'll notice until you're ready to be able to spar in the gym, so I totally respect that I think sparring is important though I think as a student you need to get used to getting a hint get used to moving around can use that real feeling not just a bag that doesn't move or do anything back but I totally respect the coaches and I love their work. read more

Highly recommend unanimous! So far my instructor has been Reuben for the last three classes. He's been very helpful, patient but pushes you to go the extra mile. I am pretty out of shape and the workouts are definitely challenging. I used to box four times a week and am excited to get back in the groove again. I travel during the week for work so the weekend schedules are great, and the times work out quite well even with my rough schedule. The gym downstairs is extensive and has cardio equipment and cross fit equipment. Bathrooms look very clean as well. I'm kind of a clean freak and I feel at home at unanimous. They make you wipe the mat after the class . They have convenient lockers for you to temporarily store things. I love the location as well. In the summer after boxing you can go to the Logan farmers market and next door is this amazing chai place. Came here for the first time last night because I had a classpass and wanted to try them out. I had an exceptional experience. Front desk is really friendly. The boxing conditioning class I took kicked my ass but I felt incredible after (still super sore, but worth it lol). I forgot to bring water and the front desk was kind enough to offer me some. I had a great workout and I am completely satisfied with the classes. I hate working out alone, so the whole class thing is a must for me! I have never boxed before coming here so I can't accurately comment on how this place ranks against other boxing gyms. I needed to get in shape and this place definitely did that for me. The classes are intense and if you can commit to attending them regularly, you WILL lose weight and get in shape. My issue is that I wanted to learn how to actually box, spar, all that good stuff. The classes are more about working out and breaking a sweat then actually teaching you how to box. Your first class you will receive a lot of attention and learn the basics, but from there on out the only instruction you receive is in the form of correction when you are shadow boxing which is a slow way to learn in my opinion, because you typically receive only one comment or correction per class. Again, I am new to boxing so I don't know if this common practice in boxing gyms or not. The classes are already $120 a month, you need to pay an extra $60 per one-on-one which I guess is necessary if you actually want to learn how to box, but it seems pretty steep for non affluent members. I started to get frustrated because it felt like even though I was getting fit, I was not progressing in my boxing skills and instructors would be surprised to find out after a couple months that I did not know how to properly block or slip punches. As a newbie you don't know what you should be learning or all the lingo, you just trust the program. I still don't even know how to properly wrap my hands, but I guess that's on me because google and youtube exist. Still, I don't see why they can't have one class a day aimed solely at boxing techniques and not working out. You can't even spar until you are approved by an instructor, again I'm no professional but I feel like sparring is one of the best ways to learn the techniques. I'm not trying to have a balls to the wall punch out, I just want to get a feel for how the techniques are applied and how the sport is actually played. How can I learn to love this sport when I'm barred from the simplest form of participating in it? Maybe I'm expecting too much, I don't know. Another big complaint I have is lack of correction in form when exercising. Other gym instructors at other establishments often ask the class if anyone has any injuries so that they can provide alternate exercises if need be. So many of the classes I've been to the instructor just keeps making you do burpees and won't offer an alternate exercise even if you clearly are losing form or can't keep up. I feel like the attitude here is an unrelenting "no pain no gain" mantra which can be good but often is just neglecting the potential for injury which I find to be kind of irresponsible, good thing they have you sign a waiver. One time a teacher literally said "We're doing squats and if you can't keep up you can sit down", like bro I'm paying $120 to be here, I'm not sitting down. Overall, I have lost weight and gotten into better shape attending the classes here so there are no complaints on that front. Boxing training will definitely get you in shape if you are committed. If your goal is to learn how to actually box though, you may want to try out a different martial art or go somewhere else, or maybe just invest in the one-on-ones but not a monthly membership. Either that or you need to take your education into your own hands and watch youtube videos outside of class and be proactive about what you feel you need to improve on, I personally don't feel like it's that much to ask for more instruction but again I don't know how boxing gyms normally operate so I won't take off points for that. P.S. If I was being honest I would rate this place lower but I hate yelp and don't believe in screwing over small businesses. This is more just an airing of grievances which hopefully might get addressed. read more

Gym: Most importantly - Clean and smells good. Enough heavy bags for everyone to have their own during class. Mats for the abs portion of class were clean. Additional equipment downstairs. Class: Excellent variety. Started off with a few rounds of jump roping. Continued with shadow boxing, partner drills, bag work... and, of course, ended with abs. My instructor, Josh, was engaged throughout class, checking in on everyone. Only wish there was a little bit of mitt work. Etiquette (this is where I took off a star): this is very important in a group class since this is shared space with shared instructor time. Clients need to be respectful of each other's personal space (ahem... noise takes up space too) and preserve the positive energy that is suppose to happen during class. Someone in my class was talking VERY loudly to the instructor during the jump roping rounds. After like 5 minutes, I couldn't take it. I put down my jump rope, walked to the front desk, and requested the person at the front desk tell the client keep her voice down. The client was talking so loud, I could hear her voice OVER the music on the opposite side of the room. If someone needs that much time chatting with an instructor DURING class, it is probably time for a 1 on 1 session. (and if you think i'm being too dramatic... just look up some basic group fitness class etiquette - you'll be spared the embarrassment when you're in a class of 50 people and the instructor calls you out on her mic to stop talking). read more

I can't express how excited I was for this opening. My last gym was UFC in lakeview, and since I moved offices I had quit my membership. I missed boxing so much. It is the only workout I enjoy. Unanimous delivered! My husband and I joined as soon as they opened, and I've been coming 4 times a week ever since. It's very pretty inside, which is quite different from other boxing gyms. It doesn't smell, and it doesn't feel like a high school locker room. Classes are small. I doubt they'll stay small....but one can hope! The coaches work a lot more on your technique than any other gym I've attended. While you will do a large amount of cardio and conditioning, much time is spent on your movement (feet and pivoting) to improve your power and technique. The owners are so friendly. We feel like we're part of a community here. If only I was training for a real fight! Some people here really are. If you don't always want to attend class, the whole downstairs is solo-workout equipment; weights and treadmills. It's a good space for crossfit-like workouts. By far the BEST thing about Unanimous is the schedule. It's why I joined so fast. Other gyms do not offer this many boxing classes every day. I get home pretty late and can still make the 8 PM classes. There's no excuse to not be here all the time, because they make sure to offer many time slots. When my wife and I heard a boxing gym was coming to Logan Square, we were super excited to join. I'm new to boxing, but my wife joined a few different boxing gyms in the past. The gym offers group classes, one-on-one lessons, as well as general access to the facility. So far I have attended a few group classes and found them to be a great work out. The class types include coed, woman's, and children. I'm still sore as I write this review. The instructors all have boxing backgrounds and are very friendly and approachable. They help newbies like me with their hand wraps and provide pointers in the classes on different boxing techniques. The boxing gym itself is super new looking with speed bags, heavy bags, aqua bags, and a ring...to name a few of it's features. In the near future they plan on opening the downstairs which will have conditioning equipment and showers. Really excited to get back into shape at Anonymous Boxing and pick up some new skills. read more

I cannot recommend Unanimous enough. A really full schedule of classes and a free gym with treadmills and weights downstairs so you can work out given any schedule. Every instructor I've had has set a challenging workout, but with plenty of help and instruction for newbies and experienced fighters and anything can be accommodated to you. Locally owned. Clean, great equipment. I am very out of shape and have been shown nothing but total respect and assistance. Plus, I have never slept as well with any workout as I do with boxing.
