Kiddo ordered the fried chicken sliders. He would order again which is a high praise from him. Sliders came with buffalo sauce and blue cheese. We ordered then plain :) Hubby ordered the fish & chips. Fish was a thick filet nicely crispy. He found the tarter sauce to be tasty. The full meal was 2 large filets. Half order would have been 1 piece. The fries were thick like Wendy's but not steak fries. The meat was flakey & moist with a lite batter. We read here a comparison to Old Bag of Nails; he rates this a close second. I ordered the black bean burger. It was good but a basic frozen patty. Im used to that as a vegetarian trying to eat in a sports bar. TVs were plentiful. We are always looking for a place to watch football games and so we will return. read more

Coaches is a Bethel Road institution. Is it named after a guy nicknamed Coach? Probably not, because the name would be Coach's. Is it a homage to sports coaches in general? Nobody knows... well somebody probably does, but not this guy. Options. This is what Coaches provides. You can have the standard 21+ belly up to the bar experience. There are tables in the back where you can bring a few kids and not feel completely terrible about your decision making as a parent. You can have a private booth experience separated by plexiglass to catch up with an old friend or maybe a date if money is tight or you are iffy on it. They even have a fire you can sit by if you have a larger group. Those flames are animated on a TV, but will still keep you warm. Options. The hidden gem at Coaches is the outdoor patio. When the weather + your mindset are right, and with enough cocktails, you can feel like you are on vacation. The high fencing that surrounds you will make you completely forget you're sitting in a strip mall parking lot next to a storefront called, "Asian Massage." This is one of my friends' favorite stops for trivia on Wednesday nights and we've been coming for about four years. It's your standard divey sports bar, but I've always found it clean and the service attentive. There are booths, tables, a large bar in the center, and a pool table. They have TV screens for spirts viewing everywhere you look - large ones around the bar and some outer walls, and individual ones at each booth. They have sound for whatever major game is playing. There's a good sports vibe with caricatures of famous coaches on the walls. It's enough memorabilia without being overkill or dusty. The food is standard bar food. A lot of stuff is deep fried, but it's hand-breaded, and the portion sizes are very large. It's not gourmet, but it's great food for watching sports which is its intent. It's also very reasonably priced and considerably cheaper than Buffalo Wild Wings which is in the same complex. I always get the fried green beans, my friends love the fish and chips (including my British friend), and we tend to get whatever daily dessert they are serving. We just found out they have entree lunch cards, so get that if you plan on coming more frequently! read more

We come to this place all the time over the years I have to say that this places service is going down that tube. Table was not clean and when to have the table cleaner the waitress that obviously did not want to be here cleans only half of the table. We ordered two bud lights and decided not to eat here anymore. This same waitress has the worst personal skills and is rude. Definitely should not be in customer service. Maybe it is this specific server but with many other choices, definitely do not need to be where we are not appreciated. When we decided to leave and go somewhere else, the waitress came over and apologized for her behavior. We ended up staying and she was a completely new person - friendly and attentive. I totally appreciated her coming to that table and offering apology. It takes a good person to do this - thank you. BTW, the food is good as usual. Will come back. read more

Moved here in January 2022. Coach's is near my home. Reliably good food and fair pricing. More than fair, really. This is today's special: Reuben Roll. Egg roll case with diced corned beef and Swiss cheese. Side of thousand island dressing or sub some hot sauce for a spicy treat. $6 or one, $10 for two. Very filling and not greasy at all. read more

This is my first time eating at this establishment. I had the Big Daddy's Ribeye Philly sandwich and fries and I must say it was delicious. The bread is so soft and the meat is so tender. My favorite place for a Philly Steak sandwich is Penn Station but I think it's my second favorite place as of Friday, July 15, 2022. The fries were even good too. Sold, absolutely. Bumping to 5. They turned an awful week for me caused by myself into an awesome one! Coaches Bar and Grill (this is the Bethel Plaza establishment differ than the Gahanna institution) is, in my very humble opinion, the absolute best neighborhood pub in the northwest and perhaps all of C-Town; I just absolutely love them! It's the staff, the staff, and the staff. Well and the food, which beats a good portion of the so called gastro-pubs in town. Nevermind, it's the staff here that is awesome. You ask for a weak link in personnel? Well there is none. Every single bartender,server, and bar-back beats any place in C-Town; I am willing to bet my eliteness, foodie status, and reputation for good taste on this fact; for a simple neighborhood hang-out there is no staff better in the NW than maybe BWs Bethel Place--but even then Coaches' Mom-and-Pop ownership allows the staff to be their own great selves. Give me a place that's better and I'll say you never been here. Try their coaches burger and outside of Thurman's and Ringside you should not find a better joint. Five guy? OMG you don't know burgers in Columbus. Period. I am telling you, they are top five in C-Town in this, outside Gourmet formation like Rossi, M, ect. It's been a craycray week for me and unfortunately, I was the one craycray. I own it, call it the winter blues or whatever, but 10-incedents I count was my fault. But a few hours here is better than any analgesic other than the several IPA I drank and free shots for making joke here, the gorgeous space and the Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday mural (hey I like art) sooths my soul. (Wildness is pure American archetype I guess.) In the end I appreciate this staff and up my rating to 5-stars and want more comfort food-pub food liking elites to visit. This place pleasantly surprised me. I hadn't gone to Coaches in a couple years...last time I was there was for a trivia night, so I don't think I had experienced their food. My bf had a restaurant.com gift certificate, so we went one Thursday night for dinner (6 PM). We walked in and the dining room was empty with just a few patrons at the bar. We grabbed a booth--all of which have individual TVs, which is a nice little perk, so my bf could watch sports on the big screen and I could watch "anything but sports" on the small one. :) As I looked at the menu, I noticed some "fancier" things for bar food--brioche buns on burgers, a pork and chorizo burger, and gouda cheese--have you been in a bar that serves GOUDA??? My bf and I each got burgers and the nice thing is you have your choice of sides--without some upcharge for swapping out fries for a salad. My bf really seemed to enjoy his burger, but I didn't think there was anything particularly outstanding about either sandwich...they were fine, but I wasn't "blown away". The burgers are a hefty size--I only ate half, so I had leftovers. Prices seem reasonable. I would come back to see what their pizza is like. The whole dining/bar space was bright and clean and well-maintained--not divey like one would expect. Around the time we left (7:00 or 7:30), the crowd started to pick up a bit, perhaps to watch the opening night of the Bluejackets game. This seems like a good place to go with a group of friends, shoot pool, sing some karaoke, or play trivia. The food is solid and reasonably priced. Nothing really spectacular here. It's a neighborhood sports bar. Has plenty of beers on tap. Has a separate bar on the patio for you to smoke at. Interior is just fine, bathroom is a bit dingy. Coaches is a great neighborhood bar that is an awesome alternative to the national sports bar chains. This place and the people who work here have a personality that creates an atmosphere that others poorly try to replicate. The employees treat you like a friend, even if they just met you, and make you feel like they have known you for years. They have a great patio when the weather is good that is a part of my regular rotation. While I ate inside today, when you are outside you are not on an island or in some isolation section as the staff does a great job of checking up on you. Over the years management has done a great job of hiring people that treat their customers like they would like to be treated. I love their wings and they are larger than anywhere else in the Bethel Center complex. Twice the meat at half the price when compared to BW's. The fries are always plentiful and usually cooked to perfection. The fried mushrooms, green beans, and their onion tanglers are great apps. Outside of what I get at the state fair, I think their turkey burgers are outstanding. Also have enjoyed their club and Italian subs for a change of pace. I have never had bad service in 40-50 visits here since moving to Columbus almost twenty years ago. This is a great place to go with friends, coworkers, and your family as there is something for everyone on their menu and you can count on getting fast and friendly service. read more

In my opinion, coaches has the best patio on the Northwest side of town. Drinks are reasonably priced and the food menu is extensive - I have tried many of the options and have never been disappointed! The homemade chips are my favorite - usually, fries or tots are the go to side, not here, get the chips! And if all that doesn't get you there, the servers are awesome! read more

If you are looking to take your talents to a pub, to watch a game or just have a beer with some friends-- this is the spot for you. Some places are make it or break it depending on who you go with-- and if you go with friends to this bar and grill, you are in for a fun night! This place gets crowded for two reasons, karaoke and any game night. When we arrive the staff willing accepts that we immediately push three tables together and begin yelling around for who is splitting what pizza and who is ordering the first round. There are plenty of TVs, a large square bar, and even a nice outdoor bar and patio. The food here is typical bar food, so it is amazing :) Don't come here if you are on the latest diet of eating nothing but food that is green, and less than 25 calories. We have tried the nacho appetizers, fried pickles (snookie style), the pizzas (yum) and plenty of the subs on the list. They also have Keno here for the hardcore crowd! The noise level will always be loud though, so if you wanted a small, quiet chill place this may not be it. read more

I went to this place twice--once was pretty bad, the other was pretty good. In all honesty, I've given it 3 stars because it is a generic shopping center bar. In total, it sucks, but for what it is it is pretty good. Drinks were really cheap, we were allowed to play terrible music without much harassment. Although, the gentlemen at the other end of the bar didn't seem to understand why their songs weren't playing--they clearly didn't know about the "play it next" option. If you live nearby and don't want to drive somewhere better this place isn't bad to get a drink, but now that I don't live nearby anymore I doubt I will ever return. I don't know if Coaches read the last review but we got a TON of fries there last night! I was ready for another restaurant.com coupon adventure and bared the snow for a drive to coaches. It was thursday which means a live band - oh joy! So we took the booth furthest away from them, since they were extreamly load and BAD! The food however was ok. Not great, but not bad. I wouldn't come here again but ecept for the Reuben everything was fine and came with a heaping of extra crispy fries that were pretty darn good. We got a large Philly which was ok and a half fish, half veggie and half cuban sandwhich which at $5.50 with fries were a good sized portion. The prices are good, the waitress was nice and we got served extreamly fast. If your hungry and in the area its a fine place to stop but not worth the drive all the way from Columbus. Oh and tuesdays and fridays is karaoke, if your into that kinda thing. read more

Not a bad place, they have plenty of TVs and an alright menu. The fried pickles are great and they offer a half order size which is perfect for one. They make the drinks just right and their prices are fair. They also have nights where they do trivia and karaoke.There is a patio that is nice and roomy with it own bar and wait staff. We stopped there on our way home and are glad we did. From the outside it looked like they were closed but don't let that fool you, go on in. You will be glad you did. We were there about 3 and they weren't too busy. We sat at the bar, but there is patio seating as well as seating at tables. They have a good selection of craft beers on tap as well as domestics and a full bar selection. The burgers were outstanding and the fries very good. This is a sports bar with lots of Tv's. Coaches is fantastic. Great value with daily specials, make sure to get your Coaches card when you visit. The food is always awesome and fresh. Great craft beer on tap along with wine and full bar.
