A long time breakfast favorite for "Country Cooking" when we visit Quincy. Our recent visit didn't disappoint. The Coach house serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a clean, reliable restaurant with good food, service and great prices. It is large with a lot of seating for groups of all sizes, including a comfortable counter if you're dining alone. We ordered one of their famous cinnamon rolls and a traditional bacon & egg breakfast. The HUGE cinnamon roll was delicious! Make sure to order one for yourself, or to share. The egg breakfast was delicious as well with a generous portion of bacon and the best hash browns I've had in a while. One of our "go to's" when we go out. For breakfast the Suzy's Special with country fried steak with white gravy is excellent! I wish they would switch to shredded hash browns instead of their current ones. Pancakes are excellent but should be larger. The Walleye fillets are horrible though, they look large but it's all over fried breading with the actual fillet of Walleye over cooked and practically non existent. read more

I'm going to say I've never had a chicken fried steak that was better cooked. It was incredibly tender. But nothing was seasoned so it didn't matter. Eggs weren't quite cooked to order but still good. Coffee might have been great but I'll never know because Coffee-Mate is all that they have on the table. Very good and friendly service! read more

I really enjoyed my breakfast here. There is something familiar to this place, even if you've never been before. It's like a little breakfast Cafe right out of a movie. There is a bar where you can sit and have a cup of coffee, and a dining room floor. It has an old fashioned vibe to it. The food was great; better than a franchise breakfast place. So why only 3 stars? The parking is difficult. They were very busy. There were no staff members to sign you in. I had to sign myself in on a notebook. There were no instructions to do so, and I wouldn't have known about it if another guest didn't show me. The staff members were very busy, it wasn't like they weren't trying. It just seemed a little unorganized. When I went to pay, the lady who checked me out seemed so annoyed to be there. She didn't smile, she didn't greet me, she didn't ask how my food was, she didn't thank me for coming in. She was as unpleasant as they come. She asked me how much I was going to tip, instead of just letting me write it on the receipt, and then rolled her eyes when I had to pause for 4 seconds to calculate a tip in my head. read more

Service was fine. This restaurant caters to its customers - average age over 75. Food was bland. Salad was directly from a bag of grocery store salad mix with two slices of hard-boiled egg on top. Set the Wayback Machine for 19 and 65, Mr. Peabody, because that's the last time this place has seen any infusion of capital. However, it's clean and well maintained and the cook delivers a damned tasty omelet. And green tea is unexpectedly on the menu. The service is good, although our server was apparently having a less than brilliant day, and the place is vibrant with many diners. In a word, it's Americana at almost its finest. read more

This restaurant is very comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu offers a variety of breakfast items as we were a group there for brunch (10 AM) - plus lunch and dinner items. We loved this place! The wait was long on a Sunday morning so we sat at the counter. Had to wait for our food but it was well worth it. I have never seen a line prepare and serve so much food so efficiently. The food was great and not very expensive. Maria and I were passing thru and stopped for the evening in Quincy (waiting for the quilt store in Hannibal to open the next day). Not a bad place for breakfast. They have probably the best pancakes in town, but thin syrup. Everything here is pretty good but nothing really stands out as great. The ham steak is my favorite. My sister and I went here for breakfast yesterday. We had the most delicious meal. She got belgium waffles while I got the french toast. It was hands down the best french toast I've ever had. We ordered cinnamon rolls thinking they'd be normal size. Those were the size of my head. They were huge, needless to say those had to be boxed and brought home. 3 1/2 stars. Service is hit and miss. Sometimes excellent, sometimes crap. Some dishes I don't care for, some I love. Most of the food is good overall, definitely improved from years past. Good salad bar but WAY overpriced as an add on to a meal, and no meals include the salad bar. A burger with a salad bar is like $15.00 which is outragous. Some things are priced ok for the amount of food you get, especially the breakfast deals, but the individual items, like sandwiches, are a little high. I'd eat here more if the prices were a little lower. I'd eat here a lot if you could affordably add the salad bar to your meal. read more

This was my 4th visit to Coach House and the least pleasant. Ordered a cinnamon roll based on previous experience however this time the roll was cold and had a scoop of cold whipped butter atop. Nothing ooey and gooey about this cinnamon roll. Asked waitress to microwave or heat up and was told it would take a while...really? To microwave for a minute? Ordered the breakfast haystack and my companion ordered ala cart. Received exactly as ordered although bland with a capital B. Gravy on the haystack was like paste and my biscuit base was crunchy. When the waitress came by to check on us we did ask for the cinnamon roll to be heated. Apparently she misunderstood and took the roll away and didn't come back until we asked again and was brought another...yep...cold cinnamon roll. And now the waitress was upset and became snotty and finally slapped the check on the table. Won't be back. It's OK food, service could be a lot better but they lost me with the bad attitude. read more
