Inner Banks Inn

Inner Banks Inn

Everything about this lovely inn is easily a four or five. The bed is a zero…read more The people who work here are super nice and they genuinely love the place they work. The front porch is amazing to just sit on and relax. It's only a couple blocks from the water and downtown area so completely walkable. It's so convenient to have a restaurant on the property so no one has to drive. The breakfast was delicious with nice touches. We loved that you could eat within a two hour time frame rather than having to eat at a certain time. The one thing that will keep me from going back is the bed. It was a regular cheap looking mattress that had a Temper Pedic mattress topper pad on top. Lame. With two of us in the bed tossing and turning all night, by morning, five inches of this pad was hanging off one side of the bed. The pillows felt like bricks. The sheets were the kind that make you sweat all night. Oh! I almost forgot about the plastic covering on the mattress pad! Lovely sound every time you moved. Needless to say, we didn't sleep well at all. One more thing - the descriptions of all of the rooms said "ironed sheets." While I certainly don't care if my sheets are ironed, the point is not to say they are when clearly they aren't.

My wife and I have stayed in at least 30 B & B's during our travels. I would have to rate this…read moreplace at or close to the bottom. There was no one there to greet us when we arrived and no one at the desk when we left. We never felt welcomed - the staff was not particularly friendly and we felt like no one cared we were there. Our room was awful - the bed was uncomfortable as were the two chairs in the room. It was incredibly hot with no thermostat to control the room temperature. Our door was not sealed properly and the light poured through the door at night. Breakfast was a joke. For fruit I got three blueberries, two grapes and a half a strawberry with a half a slice of bread. Our coffee was lukewarm. Our eggs and toast were not cooked properly. It was so bad that even though we paid for two nights, we left after the first night and forfeited the cost of the second night. If you are going to Edenton, stay somewhere else.

Waterside Resort…read more Just like previous reviews I read it really is in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't like any other property I have stayed at. Normally you go check in at the front desk and there's someone there to help you whenever you need it. At this location the office is not open 24/7 and I think one of the apartments was converted to be partly the office. They do provide an after hours number. There are a lot of bugs. They have a couple bug traps around the property, but it really isn't enough. We saw a lot of gnats and spider webs. The trolley carts to take your bags up to your room were rusty and you couldn't put too much on it or the tires would go flat. We were worried that this was going to be a mistake. When we finally got our keys and went into our room It was completely different. The space is a generous size. The kitchen is huge. I wish my kitchen was that big. The first bedroom had a separate shower and tub. The tub had jets, but I didn't know how to work them so I couldn't get them to come on. The towels aren't very soft. We usually bring our own so that wasn't a big issue. Maintenance had to come to help with our remotes because they weren't working with the TVs. Apparently dish network remotes have to stay in the same room as the box. Maybe a suggestion on that would be to label the remotes with what room they go in because they are all the same. The beds. Were comfortable and everything was clean. They provide a washer and dryer, however our dryer wasn't drying the clothes. The office was closed that day and I called after hours and maintenance came over quickly. He did his best, but wasn't able to fix it. They offered to let me bring my clothes to the office to be dried and maintenance was very nice when we had to call. There is a large balcony with chairs and tables where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. The view is spectacular. The water is so calming and beautiful. The pool was cold, but I think that is to be expected in October. Not all of the jets worked in the hot tub and the water wasn't very hot. We didn't use the fire pit but they do have that as an option and they also have a BBQ with utensils. There is a cute gazebo with chairs that you can sit in and just enjoy the quiet and the water . There is a small town across the bridge called Edenton. A lot of places were closed during the week. We didn't get to go into the lighthouse, but we went into one of the other houses that had a bookstore. The people in there were really friendly and told us some history about the town. I do recommend checking it out. It does have its own little history. They have a couple of restaurants that aren't too pricey, and have decent food. It's not the best I've had, but it's also not the worst. We drove over to a Piggly Wiggly, which was about 20 minutes away in Plymouth I think. That area was pretty scarce. They did have some fast food restaurants. I bought two packs of meat at the store so I can make two meals in our room. The meat went bad after only a day. I recommend going to the Food Lion instead . They have a Food Lion in Edenton, which was nice and convenient. There is a Walmart about 45 minutes away and the best way to tell I'm not a country girl is my excitement to see a Starbucks lol. If you are looking for a place to go relax and be left alone, this is the place for you. It's perfect for sitting outside and reading a book. We played games every night and it was a really nice place just hang out with your family. I don't think it was worth 215,000 points though.

Pressure wash....keep clean. Sad since inside condos are beautiful. Won't ever recommend this place!read more
