Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. The images show the before and after work, minus the exterior wall board nailed up. I decided to repair the drywall and brickwork myself. Thanks for a wonderful job and experience Mike.

In early 2025 I decided I wanted to build a 30'x32' shop at my house for my own use. I got bids from 5 different contractors and I decided on Spane for three main reasons: First, in my initial and subsequent meetings with Michelle, their designer and estimator, I learned she was very knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with. She took me through the entire design/build process from the beginning to the end, cheerfully answered my questions and put up with me changing my mind several times during the process. Because of her thoroughness, there were no surprises from start to finish. She made it easy. Second, Spane's bid came in the lowest, but I thought it was reasonable as I had done my own estimate of materials and labor based on current costs. (Unlike some of these Contractors around here who jack their bids up to try to make a years profit from a 2 month project...) Third, and most important, over the years I had seen for myself the quality of their work and at the end of my build, my new shop is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. The house has lots of character and many custom elements, including wood trim from native trees. As such, we needed to find a contractor who respected and appreciated the craftsmanship and who would make an extra effort to retain the high quality and look. Our first major project was to transform a tiny powder room into a 3-piece bath with shower. After interviewing several contractors, we decided to go with Cameron and Bigfoot Builders. He was extremely detailed in his project scope and pricing. He was also the only one with an online website which was customized for our project and where we could check on timeline, progress, change orders, etc. Working with Cameron was very easy. He took 360 degree photos and translated them into a diagram that showed the amount of space we had and what could be done with it. Since we had a large closet on the other side of the wall with the sink, he proposed that we utilize some of that space for the shower, while keeping the remainder of the space as a very usable clothes closet with shelves. Timing was a bit delayed, but not due to their work. Being on an island has its challenges and the ferry accessing Guemes was out for 6 weeks so, by the time we could actually get started, it was well into peak season and we had to work with each subcontractor (electrician, plumber, tile, etc) as they became available. Cameron was really good at communicating dates of availability and trying to move things up when he could. Each of the subs did exceptional work, so no complaints there. Cameron worked with us with the colors and materials and offered valuable input. The result is very functional and high quality, maintaining the craftsmanship and look of the rest of the house. The materials allowance included in the estimate was generous, unlike many contractors who try to keep those costs minimal. Cameron understood what the desired final look would be and was able to procure high quality materials. He even had an extra tall custom shower door built rather than a standard off the shelf door so the look would be more cohesive. The shower door will be installed today and I am looking forward to the final, finished look. The bath is situated between a bedroom and media room and really looks like it is an ensuite to the bedroom. It does not look like an add-on. I can't say enough about the high quality work that the Bigfoot team does. Kyle, who was working hard the whole project, did exceptional work, even according to the other subs. He framed out the shower stall perfectly, so perfectly that the man who came to take the shower door measurements had to take them three times because he could not believe how perfectly the job was done. He told me that "they could have just sent me the measurements and saved me a ferry ride". The entire Bigfoot team is a pleasure to work with. Everyone is pleasant, respectful, and eager to please. This is such a welcome departure from other contractors that I have worked with. Even smaller, miscellaneous tasks like a sliding door lock (which my husband mangled) were done with cheerfulness and attention to detail. This company has upped the bar for their competition. I will be doing other projects with them.

The insurance company is unwilling to process approval. After several months of frustration and time, I called the manager of Unique Interiors and he basically has nothing to help rectify the issue. I am left with a GIANT stain in my driveway. We are continuing the battle but I would think twice before using this company. MAJOR LIABILITY ISSUES/RISKS HERE!!!

Instead, according to our landlady, dirt was piled up against the deck to where, over time, it would cause serious damage to the deck and unevenly and haphazardly dumped anywhere. Repeated calls, emails and text messages to Maria, who speaks for the company, insisting they fix the problem bore no fruit whatsoever. After initially agreeing to get the crew to the house to fix things immediately, she stopped taking my calls or responding to my electronic messages. Nothing was ever done, and our landlady was forced to hire someone to fix the terrible work Family Landscaping left undone. I paid them a LOT of money to do the work, but they chiseled us. These people are not at all trustworthy, nor do they care about doing a quality job. They deserve less than no stars -- if anything, take whatever stars they have away.

They were not properly installed, i paid someone to reinstall them and paid that guy $300. The initial install was approx $850. S&S refunded me the $300. I also had S&S to my house to help me figure out why my roof was emitting a noise 24x7. One worker came and actually pulled up a sheet of shingles. The roofer from hell did not secure the shingles properly and did not go to the edge of my soffit so i now have water in my bedroom and living room walls. I was told by Andrew of S&S that any noise would be a problem in my beams, not the roof. Thats a lie. I googled why my roof makes noise and apparently lack of or usi g short nails can cause the roof to emit noises. Bottom line? I may have to reroof my house. The roofer from hell got me for $18k. Well folks S&S hired the roofer from hell. Their person who answers the phone told me Ite could be constrrued as me harassing the roofer by calling his placeq of work. I had to remind her, IM YOUR CUSTOMER!! BOTTOM LINE . Do not let their roofer who has several names get on your roof. He was Christian Esteban when he took 3 months to roof my house. BE AWARE OF WHO IS ON YOUR ROOF.

It was priced competitively, the work was completed as-promised and even ahead of schedule, and they left my house and yard clean every night before they left. I got multiple bids to have my roof replaced and Bruno at Wind Proof Roofing was the one who followed up the most, which I appreciated. He was slightly less expensive than some others but just as responsive if not more. The one small difference is that he didn't have a flashy report outlining his bid - unlike the one another, larger roofing company provided. Instead, Bruno talked through my needs and summarized them on a single document with the pricing broken out. He also took a video of the roof and sent it to me, which was very informative and something the bigger company did not do. The other thing that really impressed me is that WP was the only company who wanted to check out my attic to ensure that there were no underlying issues before the work started. I really liked this approach since I don't like surprises when doing house work and demonstrated how thorough they are in approaching roofing projects. Bruno's team arrived on time and finished the house ahead of his promised time. I've never had a contractor finish ahead of schedule, so Bruno gets additional points on this one. The workers who were here worked long hours, were efficient, and respectful of the house. Overall I'm very impressed with WP Roofing and recommend them to other Yelpers!
