I had wanted to try coloring my hair recently and booked with the salon owner who I thought would be more hands on in getting me the results I wanted. It took two visits to get the color I wanted and the attitude of the salon was not very empathetic or understanding. I also echo what others say about the hair cut only visit being pricey but you leave with frizzy, unruly hair. I'm used to situations where I felt my most confident after leaving a haircut and instead at Southern Curl, I would have to make the choice of spending over $200 to leave feeling put together vs doing the cut alone and just go straight home to wash and style my hair myself. I feel less alone reading other reviews that others got the same feeling of being a burden or nuisance. It is also pretty apparent that when you have a negative experience or feedback, the salon is quick to say goodbye and say you're not a good fit for them, again placing the blame on the client and not taking any ownership of what they could do better. As a business in the service industry, I would expect better customer service and sincerity.

As soon as I entered the salon (which is beautiful, by the way), Jamie warmly greeted me at the door; she has an amazing, positive energy, and I trusted her with my locks right away. We talked about what I wanted (non-grandma, low maintenance, incorporate my wacky inelegant natural wave, a hint of edginess so I can trick people into thinking I'm cool and stylish, etc.) and looked at some pictures together, and I could tell she "got me." After a shampoo and fabulous head massage, we returned to the chair so she could work her magic. She styled me using just a blow dryer with a diffuser (Noice - thank you for that!), so I knew I wouldn't have to do a lot to maintain it, and when I saw the final product, I knew I'd found my spirit stylist. I hate having to upkeep my haircut, but with her mastery she manages to give me a clean cut that lasts 2 months between visits. Highly recommend to book ahead, because shes quite busy! I took my time doing major research, calling around to get quotes, checking Instagram to go with someone I could trust who had good experience but I was feeling overwhelmed. Finally, I was referred to Mindy by a friend. Mindy was fast at responding, very sweet and professional, and knowledgeable in what she does. This was my first time ever considering microblading so I didn't know much, and she recommended that I have the ombré powder shading during my consultation.
