I have moved relatively close to this store in the last 6 weeks, so have visited a few times with…read moreit potentially becoming the store where I do my weekly shop. However, I shopped here on the 29/9/2024, spending a total of around £120 (our normal amount), only to receive a parking notice yesterday for £85 for staying over a time limit. Now I have a few problems with this: 1) Punishing customers who spend a lot of money at your store is daft. 2) Most stores have a 3 hour limit, not a 2 hour limit. (This can be seen at the ASDA up the road) 3) Customer Services fobbed me off this morning when I went in to ask for help with it, saying there is nothing they can do, I have to talk to Euro Car Parks. (I know this is not the case, as I previously worked for Sainsbury's, as a customer service manager who had to manage these issues regularly. It is a case of Sainsbury's liaising with Euro Car Parks, a simple email). So I also feel like I have been lied to. As it happens I had a little shopping to do today, but at the point blank refusal to help, I took my custom up the road to ASDA. Furthermore, the same will be the case at the weekend when I need to do the full shop, and this will remain the case, unless something is able to be sorted. So well done, I guess.

For a rather small shop, it has a huge selection of products, including freshly baked bread, a well-stocked freezer section, lots of fresh fruit and veg, newspapers, magazines, cigarettes and alcohol. It also sells lots of seasonal products, so you can expect to find selection boxes and huge tubs of Roses at Christmas and tonnes of chocolate eggs at Easter! The prices aren't cheap, especially when there's an Aldi just down the road. But the shop has a lot of special offers on, which change every week. These can be fantastic if you're flexible about the brands you buy. The wine and beer promotions are particularly good. The shop is open until 11pm during the week and 10.30pm on a Sunday, which is really handy if you live nearby. They don't have a huge amount of staff working in there, probably about ten. But they're all so friendly and chatty that you end up making friends with them all!

Locally based Co Op have had stores up and down the country, especially the high streets long…read morebefore the likes of Tesco Metro & Sainsburys Lite (whatever their stores are called). This branch has been here in Didsbury for as long as I can remember. When I lived in Didsbury this would be one of the first places I'd visit on a Sunday morning as I rounded up my home grown hangover kit. They've refurbished the place recently, but it's no looker either on the inside or outside. However, it sells pretty much everything you need with regard to food, booze and papersand sometimes that's all you need in life. Towards the back they have a household goods section (a few years back I entered here drunk and wound up with some quite frankly useless items: a Santa with a snow scene welded into his corpulent belly for one). I think it's always been a myth that the Co Op (although ethically aware) sell reasonably priced items: in fact the items can be fairly pricey it might be more cost efficient to get almost the same items from the Aldi store not too far up the road from here. Still, it's centrally placed and I guess if you could afford to live in Didsbury you wouldn't really be complaining about the cost of unsmoked rashers from the Co Op. They do a proper orange juice in here I'll give them that.

It is smaller than your average supermarket, yet with some of the counters you'd find in one, so it reminds me of an average Tesco Metro store. The staff here seemed really rude and unhelpful for one, including the security who seemed to just stand there when anything happened including an altercation between two customers. The store does feel a little cramped with the tills basically right next to every aisle, it feels like they're trying to cram everything into one space and it just isn't working and makes the store more uncomfortable than convenient. The product range in-store was okay, but the whole process was slow, the self-service check-out machine area, for example, was far too narrow, busy and it wasn't run very well with half of the machines out of order so you'd never know when it was your turn - this whole checkout process for me was the final straw, it was too confusing, poorly designed and time-consuming and nearly made me decide to put my items down and leave the store. The main issues with this branch are how uncomfortable the store is and how the staff don't seem to care about customers safety and security, and even shopping experience with broken down machines and poor, cramped facilities. 1*

Located half way down the moor it's ideal for those who are near by otherwise it's a walk to either tescos or sommerfields. While it is big for a city centre/ mall location, it is dwarfed by their other stores. I do feel the store could be due to some renovation as it did feel a little old and even dirty at times especially with the old flooring, and they did also appear to be understaffed so it was hard to find a staff member when required to ask where certain items were, such as the free from section which was a shame. The Free From section was interesting, they did have some cool and unique items such as Brewdog Beer, but they lacked with pretty standard items such as a selection of bread. Obviously it is in a good location within intu Derby and the shopping centre, but surely it is due to a total renovation including improving the selection in multiple areas, although it can be useful within its location, acting like a large Sainsbury's Metro store it isn't a complete terrible lost cause. 2*
