Regus New Mexico Washington Avenue

Regus New Mexico Washington Avenue

I was in Santa Fe from out of town and needed to do 4-5 hours of work uninterrupted. Regus seemed…read moreto be the only coworking facility where I could pay for a day pass (I think it actually charged by the hour, $37 for 5 hours). It wasn't that straightforward to book online. When I tried to book on my phone it kept trying to put me down for a meeting room reservation. I eventually had to make the booking on a laptop. The Regus space is on the second floor of the building that houses the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper offices. It was simple to check in. I got assigned a desk in an empty room with 4 desks. No one else used the space while I was there and I could keep the door shut. That was very good, since there was a lot of stuff going on -- people have offices here that they use for client consultations, and in the shared areas they had super annoying video game music playing. There's complimentary coffee and a bathroom shared with the other offices in the building. If you want snacks you should bring your own.

A recent visit to Santa Fe, New Mexico, was cut short a week due to the implementation of a 14-day…read moreCOVID quarantine restriction by the governor, which would have made it impossible for us, as out-of-state visitors, to use a short-term co-working space we had rented from Regus. During the sales process, I was sold on two small offices as being the cheaper route than hourly "hot desk" rentals for the week, but the sales person failed to disclose that we would also be hit with a $366 "restoration" fee (hidden well in the full contract). We never made use of the office nor entered the facilities! I accepted that the rental fee was lost. We could have broken the law and showed up to make use of the office we had already paid for, but we respected the request of authorities and returned home instead. However, at the end of the one month term, I received a second invoice for a cleaning service that should not have been needed. I called to request the charge be removed and explained why I felt that was reasonable. I was told I would be called back. No call back. THEN, hit with a late charge on the fee in question while waiting for a return call. Wrote and called multiple times, only to be told "you signed the contract". No reconsideration. No apology for crappy communication or poor customer service. I have since paid the charges vs. get hit with additional late fees or risk a collections matter. However, if I can make even one person think twice about doing business with Regus, I will feel better. Read the contract and ask questions, people. The fee in question wasn't even in the official "Service Agreement", but rather in a document called "House Rules". Even then it only referenced a $3/sq ft restoration fee, but was not clear if that applied to my specific rental nor was there mention of # of sq. ft for the two offices so that I would have a sense for total out-of-pocket risk. Bottom line, I fell for the sales pitch and trusted that I was doing business with a reputable, reasonable company. There are better choices available and I have used other co-working spaces with great success, but sadly my experience with Regus says they are not one of them!

Many of those working there focus on altruistic endeavors. The CCO Lisa is great. She's very understanding and affable. She wants you to feel comfortable there. The space is clean. The working desks are roomy; there's a nice variety of desks, lounge areas, and private rooms. The ground floor maintains the essence of the old library structure at the original Albuquerque High School with high ceilings. Most of the buildings there are residential. Because this was an old school, there's a lovely courtyard to take breaks or work. The basement level is more cozy and modern and brightly lit. Perfect for an artist like me. Hopefully, there's a spot where you can spread out more if you have an easel. I love the vast open space and being around others, though I enjoyed the times when no one was there. Overall, FatPipe is on the quieter side. Everyone keeps their phones silent mode. Of course, you will hear collaborating and Zoom calls, but it's not loud. The carpeting helps with that. They have a weekly yoga session to start your day and 1 Million Cups. Lisa brings speakers in regularly. As an artist, I love that FatPipe is open 24/7 for monthly members and beyond.

Wow! Thanks for the headshots! What an amazing collection of people! Evan has gone above and beyond…read moregetting it all set up for usable office space. Joshua was professional and sweet taking my headshot. Thanks again. From the outside it looks like an old abandoned garage/station and I had no trouble parking but it was awkward. The space itself was open; two larger areas for events and smaller individual workspaces. I am a loud person by nature so I felt if I needed to work and take calls I would disturb others needing quiet. I like the perks like free coffee and snacks. I should have looked closer at the equipment. I am an Apple girl and I didn't look to see if their stuff was compatible. The WiFi was strong. I didn't use the bathroom so I can't review that aspect either. All the plants were beautiful and it was good energy for working. Working area was tuck way back away from the open natural light I personally love natural light and work off a laptop so I would probably ask to sit in the front if it was not being used. This location is super close to UNM and food so it's convenient and if I was someone that moved around a lot I could see this as a great stop in.

We were given a very nice tour of the facility. I can see that it is a work in progress and believe it is going to be an extremely great place for those who need space. they provide private offices for rent, big rooms for classes or lectures, and small meeting rooms. I already have an idea how I can utilize the space. There are some fantastic features from when the place was built over a 100 years ago. Let's See this place grow.
