1 Million Cups networking event happening there is absolutely the place to be Wednesdays.

    Erin S.

As part of my tour of coworking spaces during Tech Fiesta, I headed to Fat Pipe today. It turned out that every Wednesday they host One Million Cups, which is a speaker series that allows local entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to a room full of peers and potential investors (http://www.1millioncups.com/). Pretty sweet! The space itself is grandiose. On the first floor of the renovated Albuquerque High lofts downtown, the large windows and ample sunlight made me feel like I was in Belle's library in Beauty & the Beast! They have a fully stocked kitchen and tons of desk spaces with outlets. It's kind of set up like a university library space. There are also little cubbies for one-on-one meetings as well as whiteboards and individual file storage. It's very open, and I imagine it gets pretty noisy if there are lots of people. Today, because they were hosting the One Million Cups event, it was bustling! There were lots of Tech Fiesta people just hanging around too. I bet on your average day it's a more conducive work environment. Outside, there is lots of free street parking all around the perimeter of the building. On Broadway I believe it's 2 hours only. Here's the rental rates info for start ups: http://fatpipeabq.com/rental-rates/

Great Co working space. Lots of smart and insightful people to chat with . I've made quite a few good connections and brainstormed a few business ideas of mine and others. We all benefit from these collisions of ideas from different fields and often see new opportunities sprout from the creative dust. Make a point of being here Wednesdays at 9 am for one million cups to hear and support start ups of all.kinds. This is among the best networking events in the city and a good place to get your finger on the pulse of the entrepeneur ecosystem. If you're traveling about for work.and tire of the coffee shop scene , drop in and find a spot to set up for a while. Try a table, desk or beanbag. Lisa is the best and will fill you in on any details not on the website. Streets and sidewalks are new and parking on Broadway is free all day (and night if you choose) if you find an opening. But bring your lunch or be ready to walk a block or two with your wallet for local fare.

    Awesome spot for presentations!

Great, welcoming space. The FatPipe team was incredibly accommodating to my last minute request for office space.

We were given a very nice tour of the facility. I can see that it is a work in progress and believe it is going to be an extremely great place for those who need space. they provide private offices for rent, big rooms for classes or lectures, and small meeting rooms. I already have an idea how I can utilize the space. There are some fantastic features from when the place was built over a 100 years ago. Let's See this place grow.

Don't assume just because it makes perfect sense to you, that the other 99% of us dense folks will know exactly what you meant. And, no, this business has absolutely nothing to do with fowl of any kind that I can discern. It is actually a great Co-Working Space. I stopped in to Free Range for an event that was happening there. While I was there, I asked to have a tour of the space. They were surprised, but very accommodating. I was surprised at how large a space it is and how many different options to work, collaborate and hold meetings of different sizes are available. Private office spaces. Conference rooms and large meeting rooms. Bright and airy spaces. Not cramped / swished together spaces that I have seen in some co-working spaces. If you are looking for an every-now-and-then space, or a more permanent "office" space, check out Free Range. Ask for a tour. They have plenty of parking . . . .and even a 2nd location in Nob Hill, if this location just west of the University doesn't work for you. Why did I only give them four stars? Well, because I haven't actually worked there . . .yet. But, when and if I need a co-working space, this will definitely be my go-to option.

The SVEDC encompasses everything you wish you were doing while you watched the latest episode of Survivor and checked on Lindsay Lohan's Twitter posts. Great little space, nice couches, chairs, desks; even a counter where you can work while standing. The people here seem very friendly; I think they may start accepting Dwolla as payment soon as well. $5 for a day pass puts them in the category of coworking spaces that I can use regularly on my budget without worrying overmuch; the only other one for that price I know of here in ABQ is TechLove in Nob Hill. The building is beautiful and houses a number of other great resources helping small businesses and startups that I haven't even fully explored yet, and am looking forward to doing in the near future. But the coworking space is great. Great alternative to TechLove without breaking the bank.

I tried calling the number listed on their page, but no answer. So that was disappointing. From what I could see through the window it looked like a nice area but I no actual produce. Haha. Perhaps they were closed due to the Tech Fiesta events, but there was no sign or notification of that anywhere. On top of not being open, the space was hard to get to. It is in the same building as A New Awakening, which is like a counseling center. So you have to walk through the counseling area and at the end of the hall is the entrance to The Produce Company. Parking is always annoying downtown, and this place is no exception. For the entire building there are 4 spaces in the alley that are reserved for customers. Otherwise, you gotta feed the meter. Considering that I would want to stay and work for a number of hours, paying to park is highly unappealing. So overall, in comparison to Convivium Coworking and Fat Pipe ABQ, this place cannot compete. It may be worth trying out if you live close and can walk/bike, and if they are actually open. Otherwise, I say skip it.
