    100 yd range

Wow. I was really impressed with CMP. This place is huge. Lots of different ranges. You can use a golf cart to get to some of the ranges. The scoring is really cool. You can see where you hit on a screen right next to you. This is a professional range. The thing I liked the most about CMP was their emphasis on safety. Each range has a staff member assigned to it to make sure everyone is following the safety rules. All of the staff here were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed talking to each one of them. We will be back for sure.

First time at 600yds. I'll take it.

Always a great time at CMP! A knowledgeable, patient and helpful staff are always friendly and there if you need anything (zeroing a scope for example). My family and I are lucky to live less than an hour away. CMP is ran with safety first and foremost! It's the perfect place to bring family or friend who is new to shooting. For $30 to shoot all day, you can't beat it.

Lobby with safety video playing. Range 1 in the background.

Extremely nice facility and a killer lobby and lounge. I didn't get to visit all the ranges yet but plan yo be back and expand upon this review. They run a tight ship with many rules and limitations on what caliber can be shot on what range. Best to visit the website first and read up before heading out.

Expert grade garand looking brand new in its CMP hard case.

I made the drive from middle Georgia to do some garand shopping and intended to hit the Anniston AL store since the CMP page says the Talladega store has "limited inventory." The weather didn't cooperate and by the time I would've made it they were going to be closed. I figured why not check out Talladega and then check in to a hotel so I could go to Anniston tomorrow. If that's "limited inventory" I can't imagine what the Anniston store is. They have garands in all different grades and I ended up picking up a beautiful Springfield in expert grade. It looks like it is brand new! I couldn't be happier and the guy working the shop was helpful and friendly. I poked around and checked out the park a bit and wow! Everything is clean, maintained, and safe. Picture a fancy private golf course...now replace golfers with shooters. Definitely a family oriented place that is great for kids. I always knew the CMP talked a big game about junior marksmanship and all that but this place walks the walk! It was worth the drive and I definitely recommend checking this place out. Only three things I wish were that they had 30-06 rounds, that they sold extra en bloc clips, and that I had made a weekend of the trip so I could spend more time there. Next time I'll know

    50 yard outdoor range.

This place is amazing. One location with many different areas, sure to satisfy every type of firearm enthusiast. It is a 500 acre facility, with a 600 yard range, a 100 yard range, and a 50 yard range. It also has 15 action pistol bays, a trap field, and a sporting clay field. A beautiful, huge, indoor clubhouse is at the front and center of the facility, with a small shop selling clothes, gun accessories, and targets inside. We went with friends to practice with their handguns. First we had to take a five minute overview/safety class that went over CMP's rules and regulations. Then we were given directions and drove to the 50 yard range. I've never shot at an outdoor range before and it was a blast (pun intended). The range master had to set up our paper targets, them we were good to go. Plus, there were metal targets to shoot at too, and it was so fun trying to make the arms swing around. I love that this place insists on yellow clear barrel indicators being put through the gun at all times when not in use to show that the gun is empty. I wish I lived closer so I could go here every week!

THE GAME HAS CHANGED shooting on electronic targets. It was an awesome experience shooting the Talladega 600!

Great facilities. I always hated walking the pit. Wish I could spend every week there.

Awesome day. Don't be a tightwad. Spend the thirty bucks and hit all the ranges! A great day, for sure.

They make you feel like a part of the family. Selwood caters to both corporate outings and to family groups. They have meeting space if you want to bring some business associates. They have rooms to spend the night. The place is rustic - big fireplace - hunting lodge look - really nice - the rooms are also rustic each has a bath - they are built out of reclaimed old wood... Their meals are homecooked, and are fantastic. You place your order ahead of time for dinner, steaks for example - if you plan to spend the night... Breakfast is just what you would expect - Hearty. in front of a roaring fire. They have guided hunts, whole-day or half-day, with trained bird dogs and professional, knowledgeable guides in a natural, southern setting. The place is large. Many varied fields to select from - wooded, open, etc. They have sporting clays. I suggest that for a nice experience, get there in time to shoot a 100 round of clays on day one, then get up for a morning hunt. They have a very high tower at station 1. Birds are high up... My only complaint - the beds are often a bit on the uncomfortable side. ...don't know where they got the mattresses.

It's really a very cool place to go for a weekend adventure with the family. You have a general sports clay area for practice then you have the course. I always know it's a hit when my wife who never likes to do anything physical or that makes you sweat was all into it:) fun fun fun. If your looking for that one crazy weekend thing to do that you will talk about forever this is it. Yes and my wife shot like a sniper.

We started to fill out the liability waiver and I asked about ammo. I purposefully didn't bring ammo because I wanted to support the business by purchasing their ammo. I was told they were completely out of ammo and that I could find some at Marks outdoors down the road. Then I was told that the pistol range was closed so we would be using our pistols next to all of the rifles. The folks behind us were two young kids with an AK. I wasn't too happy to be sharing the range with these young kids and their AK. I wanted to brush up on some things with my wife so she would still be comfortable with the pistol we bought for her. So without ammo we left and headed to marks outdoors. As I was in the ammo section of marks explaining to the ammo attendant our situation, a random person next to me said that he always gets a mini draco inadvertently waved at him by some untrained young kids. So this would be 0 stars but u give it 1 because the folks at the front counter were very nice and they did tell me where to find ammo. We didn't bother shooting there today and I'll probably never go back unless I hear the safety requirements are being policed far more stringently. Too bad this is the only indoor range around...
