There are 3 large receptacles to accept the following items: tin, steel or aluminum cans, glass (brown, green and clear), plastic, paper and cardboard. This is a great place to bring your huge boxes that your new 80" TV came in. So much better to bring boxes for your expensive new toys here than to advertise to criminals what's new inside your home! Prohibited items: wood, metal, construction debris, chemicals, paint, tires and appliances. Richardson has a separate hazardous waste recycling center that accepts some of the items not accepted here. Thank you Richardson for providing such excellent city facilities!

The people in the weighing house are very helpful. If I should miss recycling day at the house, I can just take my blue recycling bags there and there are 2 green dumpster for that. I don't take glass. It shatters and shards get everywhere. I have a bin at home of glass and take it to Strategic Materials in Midlothian about every 6 months or so. I would also like to comment on the ascetics of the dump. Very clean, organized and helpful personnel. Thank you city of Irving. By the way, I have also used a rolloff dumpster twice for remodeling. Very convenient and I don't have to make any trips to the dump.

I have been only once but they seemed to be a little bit disorganized with their method. I did not…read moremind so much that I had to back in to use the scale, but the guy backing up in front of me had a large load of steel and could not see to back up causing a very stressful few minutes for me because he almost did not stop twice. The first time the off duty policeman working there stopped him from cradhing into my front end, going backwards, the second time I was watching and honked my horn at him. It was a close one as I had nowhere else to go in order to avoid a collision. Good thing I had a horn. Oh and the website says they close at 6:30 and they mean it. If you're in line any later than 6 you may as well just wait until the following day because there are too many folks trying to get in when they should be calling it a night. The off duty cop was pretty cool. I really didn't have any interaction with anyone else because I was with someone who went there regularly so I didn't collect the money or anything but they had fair prices. I would say they are priced competitively because I usually go to a place closer to home and the prices were better at action at least the first time. Hopefully they'll be consistent. I'll reevaluate as needed here in my review the more I go. So far so good. Just a disaster for that poor cop to have to deal with directing traffic in the most confusing of ways possible! Maybe if they had signs too it would be more organized?
