We've been buying jerky from the Country Butcher for 40 years and we've never been disappointed,…read moreuntil now. For some reason they've soaked the meat in oil before packaged it. I cannot think of any reason to do that other than increasing the weight. I had to use a paper towel and dry off every piece as I took it out of the package. See the pictures below. You can see the puddle of oil on the meat. You can see the oil stained on the paper towel I pressed out of the piece of jerky . Also check out the before and after pictures of what it looked like after I dried off the right hand piece. Unfortunately, I won't be back. Buyer beware.

In the back they had a fresh meat counter - over 40 varieties of homemade sausages, various cuts of raw meat, take and bake stuffed mushroom caps, chicken breasts, and stuffed peppers. The list goes one! Along another wall, they had a refrigerator/freezer section with another delectable selection of homemade products - smoked cheeses, beef sticks, ring bolognas, dips, and frozen sausages/meats. We left the first time with cheese curds and a leek log. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor that the log had. Amped up ring bologna with pieces of cheese and leeks all throughout. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the cheese curds - creamy yet with a hint of chive mixed in. When we stopped in again on our way home, we picked up some more items - vodka sauce, fresh sausages to grill that evening (hot leek, greek, and kick ass), jalapeno and cheese beef sticks, and some frozen sausages for later (pepperoni, the hottest one, and another that I can't remember). Let me tell you - the fresh ones we had that night were amazing! The greek was by far my favorite (also their best seller) but the other two did not disappoint.
