I came in for an intro class about a month ago and loved it so much that I signed up for a monthly membership that day and came back that afternoon for another class. To be clear, in the insure class, I felt no pressure at all to sign up for a membership. The whole reason I did the free intro class was because I was looking for a new Pilates gym. All the instructors I've had so far been knowledgeable and clear and their instruction of the moves and what muscle groups I should be using. This is now become part of my weekly routine for fitness. read more

The availability of booking certain classes is a nightmare!! Not sure if it's a lack of instructors or a limited amount of reformers.

2 stars because the class itself was fine, the studio was well-maintained, and the front desk worker was very nice, so I don't want to give the entire studio a mere 1 star over one instructor. However, I had the worst experience during my recent class and will never return to this studio solely because of how I was treated by their instructor Maite. I rushed over to class after work, trying my hardest to make it on time and arriving within the 5-minute grace period allowed by the studio. Despite this, Maite felt it was appropriate to make a snarky comment to me in front of the entire class upon my entrance about "try to be on time next time." I've never met Maite before or taken a class with her, so the comment was not born from a pattern of tardiness. Instead, she merely chose to shame a new student publicly, which also did not leave me in a good mindset for the rest of class. Later in class during one of the most difficult moves (a plank with our feet in TRX straps) my lower back was really hurting. I tried to avoid sagging to prevent the pain and apparently had my butt up in the air. When she came over to tell me to put my butt down I told her that I was having a lot of back pain with this move. Instead of offering a safe modification, she walked to the front of the room and announced to the entire room that this class was supposed to be difficult and if someone can't do the moves maybe it's better to move to a less challenging class, which was not possible in the middle of the class. The she specifically referenced trying the 1.5 level class, which is what we were supposed to be taking (I double checked after class). Regardless of her potentially incorrectly teaching a 2.0 during a scheduled 1.5, only 5-10% of the class was challenging, and this particular move was just one my body needed a modification for, yet it was not offered. I debated posting this review to warn others about my unprofessional and unsafe experience with instructor Maite. Then I saw a review from 2018 calling her out specifically for having a condescending attitude towards students in a 1.0 level class. Maite clearly has not received any coaching on her lack of professionalism in the eight years since that review was written, so I doubt anything will change. If this studio wants to remain a welcoming and safe environment they should reconsider continuing to employ Maite in a client-facing role. read more

Great facilities. One of the bathrooms had a shower. Staff were kind and informative. I never felt pushed into paying for a membership.

I love Club Pilates Club Pilates at Assembly Row, Somerville and try to attend 5 classes per week. The instructors are a pleasure to work with and are all great. They are very knowledgeable, offer variations of the exercise to fit your need, are very attentive and friendly. The front desk ladies are also extremely helpful and ready to assist with whatever you need. I am not a fan of exercising but have joined several different classes and gyms, and always found excuses not to go. But as I age, I find that I need to keep moving to avoid the aches and pains. I became a member of Club Pilates in January, and except for vacations and a few days of not feeling well, I have been going consistently. I no longer make excuses not to go, because I enjoy the classes very much and look forward to my next class. I highly recommend giving Club Pilates a try with their 30 minute introductory class. read more

Really liking my experience here. Conveniently located at Lynnfield Market with tons of parking. You book on their app, check-in on the ipad, pick your reformer and go to work. Steph is an incredible instructor; she eats, breathes, and lives Pilates--and it shows. She is a fantastic motivator and highly entertaining. Most importantly when I leave class I feel good. The next day my entire tummy is on fire; not just lower or upper--the ENTIRE fleet of abdominal muscles are cooked. I call it delayed onset of muscle soreness. Steph is the best! Connie (GM) and Becky have been very accommodating, and I am very grateful. Book a class. You won't regret carving out some time for yourself here. read more

This review is for Club Pilates - not the instructors. Customer support is mostly very rude people. Their policies are horrible. Leaving the studio is really hard because management constantly ignores requests and then they make you pay for 2 extra months after a cancellation request. The saddest policy is that they charge you for a class even if you are sick. I've known of several people who can't cancel a class or freeze their membership after becoming ill. The space is crammed and they don't maintain their equipment well enough- creaky or broken. Very bad business. Outdated business model. read more

Sadly dont recommend. Very rude staff! Still in shock of the poor level of customer service of the girl at the desk as well as the instructor. read more

I guess it depends on the studio you go to , but for my city literally every studio is BOOKED and they don't allow credits to roll over so youre basically paying for a membership you can't use. they won't let you cancel until you Kaye three payments which is dumb since there's no classes available read more

This is the WORST club. Their policies suck and their customer service is horrible. I signed up (with a $90 initiation fee by the way) to get 8 classes a month for $200.... When you first sign up you HAVE to commit to 3 months otherwise you pay a penalty. I went after my three months to cancel my membership to find out I have to pay for an additional month because there is a 30 day notice policy. After explaining my confusion to the desk attendant as well as the GM they said I didn't read my agreement close enough and I should have let them know within my second month. I stated that I understand it's in the agreement however I didn't come to them in the second month because I would have to pay a fee (which they confirmed in this conversation) so now because I stood by the three month agreement they get to squeeze a fourth months payment out of me. They did not understand my confusion or see my point and dismissed me. Not only are their policies horrible but the app is horrible as well. Always booked up. They also charge a no show fee if you cancel within 12 hours of the class... I understand you have to have some cancelation window but 12 hours is excessive considering there were a couple occasions where I fully intended on going but had a major event happen at work so I would cancel 4 hours ahead but still get charged. Do not go to this studio, seriously try one of the studios in Boston instead they are way better and way more flexible. read more

Be careful- I purchased a 3 month initial membership, and got injured (hip), dr told me to take a break. they wouldn't freeze/ hold my membership for the injury nor when I got Covid over Christmas, since 'their system' wouldn't allow me to since I intended to cancel after 3 months. No effort by manage my to give me makeup credits, even with a dr note. Lost $300. Instructors vary widely- some, like Alexandra and Bernadette are amazing. Some like Sophie don't even pay attention, no corrections (even when you mention an injury) and does the same thing every class. Consider fitlife, lifetime (right around the corner) or other private studios instead- much more considerate and will accommodate injuries/ sickness. Also so hard to find classes that are even open/ have a spot when you do want to go. Good instructors fill up quick/ no good instructors during their only 1x per week 6am time slot. read more

Having been a member for almost a year, I feel confident in giving this place FIVE stars. The instructors are attentive and the facility is clean. Their app is convenient and easy to use too. All in all, a great studio. I took a star off based on a recent experience I had with a newer instructor. To preface, my experience up until this point was that any time an instructor wants to give feedback or guide, they will do so verbally. If further adjustment is needed, they will ask permission to touch me and manipulate my body as needed. During my first (and last) class with her, this woman came out of nowhere and pushed my hip bone down into the mat. I was surprised, but brushed it off. In that same class, she came over (again, with no warning) and manipulated my legs the way she felt they had to be adjusted. If she took the time to warn me, or just verbally instruct me how to adjust I'd have understood. Not to mention I also have hip mobility issues so her moving my legs around on her own wasn't ideal. The nail on the coffin was when she asked us to sit "criss cross applesauce" at one point. What are we, kindergartners? Yah, I'll pass on further classes with Pamela. read more

Club Pilates Assembly Row has some superb instructors, especially Rebekah Ross and Jackie Lowe. I had done 52 sessions. Unfortunately, the adminstration is chaotic. Complicated billing, dropped credits, unreturned calls and mail, long waiting lists for best instructors, sudden 2 hour notice of openings. Pilates is great exercise for seniors. I'm sure many more would come if they could organize and simplify their process. I hope somebody in Boston will. Taylor Devane read more

I went to an intro class yesterday. Everyone in the class was new and never tried pilates before. I was surprised by how unhelpful and borderline condescending the instructor was. She seemed annoyed that we didn't know how to use the reformer or properly do the moves, and didn't seem happy to help us. It wasn't a positive or empowering vibe. I also noticed the classes are waitlisted for weeks out, which others have called out in past reviews. So with that, plus the instructor, I've decided to look elsewhere for a studio. read more

ALL of KATIE'S classes are superb! She's a Master Pilates Teacher and a dedicated teacher to all of her students. She remains committed to every class with 100% dedication and awareness of EACH student. I'd highly recommend taking some privates with Katie as well. It's worth forgoing a few restaurant dinners and take privates at the studio with Katie... read more

Beautiful facility with awesome teachers. I am getting married in a month, have a Pilates background, but could only attend level 1 classes. The teacher was able to provide me with modifications to make the workout kick my butt!! read more

The studio is very nice and clean. The instructors are very good. Too bad I could not continue due to my work schedules. The manager was understanding and allowed me to cancel my 3 month membership without any additional penalty. So I appreciated it very much. read more

I've been attending CP Somerville since Oct 2018. I started off with 1 class per week just to get used to exercising again. Slowly built it up to 2 classes per week and found myself getting stronger and stronger. Somewhere along the way I developed a pure love for Pilates and now i attend 4-5 classes per week. I'm 52 and have NEVER been in this good a shape in my entire life! I feel stronger mentally and emotionally in addition to physically. P.S. as someone in the mental health field, this is a fantastic supplement to any form of personal therapy. Strengthening your core truly affects all aspects of your being. I just can't say enough about how talented, caring and just plain wonderful all the instructors are! read more

I have a connective tissue disorder and chronic pain related to it. I've lived in physical therapy since I was about 12 years old and have always been told that pilates would be good for me I finally took the chance in adding this place to my regimen (I also do some pilates with my PT) and I really love it. they're very welcoming and I'm comfortable there (I'm never comfortable exercising in front of folks so that's pretty major). I try to attend with the same instructor because she knows about my injuries etc but I've gone to a few others and they're all great. I frequently have to make modifications to the exercises they are doing- for example my shoulders slip out of place so instead of using the reformer for a particular exercise I've been taught by them to use the wall things (technical term lol) they have also really helped me out when I have had issues with not being able to attend because of my condition and membership fees and what not. If you're interested they have free trial sessions to check them out ! read more

So deserving of many more stars! I'm a huge fan of Club Pilates - reformer pilatesl The workouts have definitely helped me build strength in my core and I feel that my flexibility/ mobility has greatly improved (I work on a laptop sitting at a desk all day ..) I like the guided instruction and pace the instructors set. A huge Shout Out to their instructors - all are extremely knowledgeable, well trained and enthusiatic. Each one works hard to make your workout successful. I like that they reiterate the benefits of each movement. I like the personal treatment they give in so many ways, I like that they gently assist and give tips to correct your postioning when needed. As for class times, as a continuing member, I typically get the class times I want either by scheduling in advance or via the waitlist. Having read other reviews I've had nothing but positive, friendly experience here from management, front desk and instructors. I look forward to my classes and I feel so much stronger and healthier. read more

I attended the first free intro class yesterday and I like it. So before I join, the lady assured me I won't have issues booking my Pilate classes as a beginner and that the schedule is flexible enough to work around my work schedules and picking up my kids. I got all excited and decided to join their 3 mos unlimited package because I want to come here at least 4 to 5 times per week. I downloaded the app and was trying to plan out my schedules for the week or the next two weeks, then I realize it is not that flexible. Most classes get full plus with my situation as a beginner, it is even harder because there are only limited level 1 classes per day. My ideal time is to book my class around 4 to 5 pm after I get out of work but it is hard to book and I have to look for the level 1 class. So me buying the unlimited access feel like I'm being duped cause I can't even lock in the time and dates that work because most of the classes are full. Also I didn't know that Sat and Sun the last class is noon time. I thought they open 7 days a week close the same time. I now regret signing up and wonder if I can cancel my 3 mos contract since I just signexed up yesterday and not even 24 hrs yet. Just too bad and felt a little misleaded thinking I wouldn't have issue booking my level 1 classes. read more

I love this place! I wish it were a little bigger and there were more seats to put your pilates socks on, but beyond that the work out is great, the instructors are awesome and they really give you individualized attention. Their slogan is do pilates do life. I've seen changes in my body since i've started. I would happily recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get into shape in a welcoming and non-intimidating environment. The owner Tammy is Tamtacular! read more

The manager finally called me back after over a month from my initial call and informed me that there's nothing she can do for this issue accept extend the credits only one time. Even though it wasn't my fault I couldn't get into a class. I talked to other people in the classes who mentioned they have similar issues so I'm not sure why more people aren't as frustrated as I am. The manager said that the issue of not getting into classes is because people who have the unlimited membership book out all the classes multiple times a day. They say they are trying to prevent this from happening but there really isn't anything they can do (from what it seems). So unless you can afford the unlimited membership I say to try a different pilates place. I will not be renewing my membership. Not to mention the manager is extremely rude and talked over me on the phone. If it weren't for her being so rude I probably would consider staying since I enjoy the instructors and classes so much. read more

I really want to keep this place a secret, but it is so unbelievably AWSOME I have to share. I also know some people who go, are going to wish I kept my mouth shut. You have to try these classes. I've been wanting to do this for years but the gym I belong to charges about 100 an hour because you can only do private classes. This club has group lessons on the machine. A lot of places have " Mat Pilates" But not my cup of tea. I don't like them( in other words ). Lmao. The trainer are so qualified it's crazy!! Do yourself a favor and go to Fit Row in Somerville and try a class. I also want to say I hardly use Yelp for anything, but since I got a questionable review personally ( I'm a hostess in the north end) someone wrote an outrageous claim that I had a smokers cough and coughed on them. I don't smoke, and I would NEVER cough on anyone. I felt the need to give a positive review and share this wonderful place. Go, you will be so happy you did. read more

I loved the place and went for their free intro class but was disappointed that you had to join for a minimum of three months at $600.00 (intro rate). I have a machine at home but have back issues and wanted to join for a month so I could learn technique. They have drop in classes for $29.00 but not sure I'd get the help needed for my issue. Jess is fantastic and gave me some pointers on keeping myself safe. read more

I love this place!! I have a bad knee and really can't do a ton of gym workouts without my knee acting up, but the reformer completely takes me off of my knee and still gives me a great workout. The staff and instructors are fantastic and I feel like I'm getting a hard workout in every class that I take. The instructors also really teach you the correct posture and Pilates positions to make sure you're working out properly, so I really appreciate that. read more

If you want to work out at an over-priced corporate chain that will lock you into a contract, this would be your place to go! I got roped into a contract there after taking a free sample class because I wanted to do something incorporating more upper body work. I signed up for the 4-class a month pack which I found to be pretty overpriced, but hey, they have reformer machines so you should get a good workout, right? You have to book pretty far in advance to get a spot in a class, which means you really have to really plan ahead. So no last minute I feel like taking a class somewhere tonight and am going to drop-in. I do understand that with reformer machines there are only so many spots available, but if I only have 4 classes a month and every time I go to sign up they are all full, that's pretty annoying. And guess what, unused classes don't roll over to the next month! So even though all their classes would be full, I would lose classes and eat the cost. Anyway, I did a few of the level I classes and even though I may not know all of the pilates positions or exercises, this class was way too easy for me because I already have a lot of core strength. I would leave class feeling like I didn't really accomplish much and if I'm pay close to $30 for a freakin class I want to feel like I actually got a workout. I then started going to level 1.5 classes so it would be more challenging. I took a few classes with Maite who was fine but seemed annoyed that people were in a level 1.5 class but maybe didn't know all of the terms like "foot position 1". Sorry you have to spend 5 seconds setting up that my heels are together or my feet are parallel.... I also did not love her style, but that might just be personal preference. I have also been to both Arnold and Katie's classes. I think their classes are good as well as challenging and they spend a decent amount of time breaking down proper alignment and helping people with their form. Recently, however, the club sent out an email saying that you need to go to level 1 classes for a few months before progressing to level 1.5 or get written permission from the teacher. I'm sorry.... what? We're not talking about a crazy advancement in skill level here. IT'S PILATES. Also, I'm grown ass adult and if level 1 is too easy for me I'm going to a higher level, especially when it's almost $30 A CLASS!! Anyway, I've tried to get out of this place and they make it damn near impossible to cancel. After your contract is up you still have to come in and give written notice of cancellation for at least 30 days before your renewal date or you will get charged again the next month. And if you do have classes left over at the end of that last month do you still get to use them? Of course not! Some of the teachers here are good, but my advice is to go to a local studio that isn't a corporate chain and therefore actually cares about its members versus just trying to sucker you into a contract. There are too many good studios with quality teachers in the area to waste your time with this place. read more

I was introduced to Club Pilates by a friend. Tried one of their intro classes, and I've been hooked ever since. Arnold is awesome!!
