I've been for their hot 26 and hot Pilates. The instructors are very nice and facility is good. Definitely a good workout and hot sauna room. However, because of the heat beware that some men will wear short shorts or less and potentially expose themselves during certain moves. read more

Such an amazing gem hidden on the second floor of the heart of Harvard Sq. I had taken a Bikram class here before when it was Bikram yoga and haven't been back for years. But this new studio breathe is such a breath of fresh air. Shelley the owner is so calming and sweet. Love her classes. ESP the yoga Yin where you really get to stretch and relax and take care of your body. I need this at least weekly from now on. You never have to bring your Own mat or towels as they provide them. And before you gag, they're super clean. I was surprised expecting them to be with down and smelly. They may not be brand new but they're very clean. Smells better than some of the expensive spinning studio towels. There are so many diff styles of teaching and classes so you will definitely find your Jam. So far I've taken hot 26, hot Hiit, yoga yin and ghoul yoga (!!!) ghoul is super cool if you're a yogi and want something different and challenging. My first class was with Sharon, and I couldn't have asked for a better intro to Breathe's Inferno Pilates. She's all about tough love from start to finish, and on days I need that extra push, she's there. Plus super knowledgeable with very clear directions!! Breathe is my favorite workout studio in Cambridge (and in general)!! I couldn't recommend it more. I've been coming for years and Shelley is the best. Inferno hot Pilates is the class I attend most! It's a great class to get your heart pumping and it's also relaxing at the same time. I always leave feeling super happy and rejuvenated. The classes are challenging and are a combo of tabeta and pilates. Always a great workout, and if you can add modifications to make the poses easier or harder as needed. The instructors know everyone by name and they are ALL super friendly. The other class I attend is the breathe vinyasa strength class with Tess. This class is more yoga based + way hotter than IHP. Looking forward to trying Hot HIIT once it works with my schedule (tends to be at 4pm so I'm at work). Mats and one towel are included with your class reservation. The old owners charged a fee so this is super convenient. Love this studio and highly recommend it! read more

BREATHE Hot HIIT with Kumar Kumar is high energy and super friendly. He demonstrates the exercises but doesn't do them with the class, so it's helpful that there are quite a few regulars in the Thurs afternoon class to watch. The class had a decent amount of first-timers as well and a lot of people in varying places of their fitness journeys. The heat added to the HIIT experience - I didn't expect to enjoy it so much! The workout is what you make of it because nobody will stop you from/shame you for taking breaks. So it's suitable for a lot of fitness levels, despite being technically a "level 2" class. I found the community to be very welcoming and non-judgemental. The studio is quite large, but some (especially afternoon) classes can fill it up. The hot pilates HIIT class was WAY too hot. Doing tabata burpees in a 100-degree room just feels too intense. I also found the studio to be a little dirty. It's a great idea to have guests take their shoes off before entering the main part of the study, but I felt like the bathrooms and the room itself did not adhere to the same level of cleanliness you see at other studios - even CorePower. read more

Recently moved to the area. Spent 3-4 months sampling various studios I was here years before when it was a Bikram studio. I initially selected Breathe due to offering Hot 26, convenience after work and the reasonable price. A little disappointed that Hot 26 schedules do not fit in with my schedule but dare I say it; Breathe has me enjoying the one fitness regime I hate! HIIT. I run and My yoga training is Asthanga / traditional vinyasa. The whole fusion fitness yoga craze was never my thing I do feel rejuvenated post Hot Pilates HIIT and yoga strength classes. Maybe that's what my body needs today. I went to a class yesterday and the instructor ( forgot name) seemed to trained in traditional vinyasa style. She incorporated just enough HIIT and resistance without deviation from the flow. read more

My unlimited month is over :( I made a comment in my original post that the studio was too big. I was wrong. Sometimes there are so many people in the room that you can almost touch the person over on a stretch (especially the weekend classes). Early weekday classes seem to pull in the last number of clients. Wanted to share here that I really enjoyed all the classes I went to, especially inferno hot pilates which continues to be a very challenging and unique work-out. It's different difficulty by instructor but the routine always changes anyway and you are encouraged to modify. Breathe's owner, Shelley, and the rest of Team Breathe are absolutely amazing. I am a decidedly non-athletic individual and it is a real testament to their exceptional teaching skills and the extraordinarily welcoming and supportive atmosphere that they have created that they have actually made me miss whimper-inducing workouts. I had never done hot yoga before walking through Breathe's door, and precious little yoga or Pilates. Not once, however, have I felt uncomfortable or embarrassed while practicing. If you are a newcomer too, don't be surprised if you feel a little overwhelmed by the heat of the studio at first (or even occasionally later on) - just take whatever time you need to collect yourself, hydrate and keep going. The studio's instructors manage to strike the perfect balance between demanding and encouraging - they keep me pushing hard but never make me feel crummy when I am having an off day or fall behind the more practiced students. And, by golly, the sense of accomplishment you get at the end of every class is fantastic (and thoroughly addictive!). Between the high calibre of the instruction and the wonderful sense of community at the studio, I suspect you will find Breathe as welcoming and as good for your mind, body, muscles and sense of balance as I have. Have a new thing for which to be thankful. Was led through an outstanding yoga class by Lucas on Thanksgiving morning at Breathe Cambridge! He is clearly passionate about what he is sharing. But his passion is also informed by a deep understanding of the anatomy and physiology that supports the poses and series. The BEST!! Final grade: A+! Run - do not walk - and join Breathe! The generous intro package price will get you hooked. Then I bought the 10 pass, and woke up on day 2, already feeling better than I had in months. On day 3, I spun around and bought the 20 pass. Now I go every day to get through the stress of final exams. Even my cravings for sweets have diminished! I'm not flexible, I look dorky half the time, no one judges, I go at my own pace, just breathing and sweating through the class, and I see progress with every passing day.
