I have never been to a yoga class in my life. PowerGlo yoga, located in Parkwest, near Joey bag of…read moredonuts and the Mexican restaurant, had a free weekend offering half price membership for a month. I decided to give it a go. I knew nothing about yoga, and ended up going to the hot yoga class, which was truly a work out, I never expected. I don't work out, I walk. That's about as physical as I get. i'm about to hit 60 in June and felt that I needed to try something to slow the progression of aches and pains and stiffness. So with much trepidation I decided to give this class a shot and I'm so glad I did. The staff and customers are wonderful. No pretense, no airs & graces, just the love of yoga. The space is beautiful and relaxing clean which is a feeling of serenity even though you're going to work every muscle in your body. In fact, muscles you never knew you had. After that first class of hot yoga I was hooked, even though I was exhausted. Nevertheless, I joined for $75 for the month with the full price to be deducted each month. I like the fact that you can cancel whenever you want. I've since booked a couple more classes, different ones, basic ones to learn the whole yoga jargon.. If you're on the fence, definitely give Powerglo a shot. They offer several different sessions, which are all online easy to book easy to cancel!!

So many yoga classes I've been to at some other studios feel more like aerobics or a dance club; at Powerglow, I'm not only gaining strength and flexibility but connecting to my breath and body in a way that feels truly mindful and grounding. I also love the variety of offerings from sound healing to fun themed classes like glow in the dark yoga. So grateful to have this in my neighborhood

This was one of the most challenging workouts I've done in a long time! My only complaint is that i wish it was more affordable but you get what you pay for here. Super clean gym, they have a parking lot and hand towels. Loved it!

Love this new gym concept in Mount Pleasant! Yes, a membership is expensive, but I think of it as…read moregetting 2 fitness studios for the price of one, as the Hy and Lo classes are both very different and work out my body in completely different ways. I love HyLo for the showers alone. The women's shower is a full room, with marble walls, and all the accoutrements you'd need--soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, towels, and even a scale. My only complaint is that they don't have makeup remover or any hair products in the bathroom when I'm getting ready after my workout, but I just bring what I need from home. The HY classes really work you in the cardio department. They all use a combination of spin bikes, rowing machines, free weights / kettlebells, ropes, TRX things (idk what they're called), and body weight to perform a lot of exercises in a short period of time with a lot of energy. Similar to what I assume some crossfit classes include. The LO classes use a special board to use your body weight and weighted poles or rubber bands to strengthen your body using your own body weight. This is most similar to pilates, barre, or yoga. All of which I'm terrible at, as I have the upper body strength of a newborn baby. Both classes totally kick my butt and make me feel like I've really worked my body hard! Highly recommend!

The Works is a great studio if you love all things yoga and fitness. They have such a large variety…read moreof class types from deep stretch to mat cardio. I usually frequent the West Ashley location, but it is only a few months old so it's not yet on Yelp. Emily Valentine teaches core vinyasa on Sundays, and it is always a great time! She has an amazing playlist and is always motivating and supportive. I always leave feeling like I really worked out my whole body and I am ALWAYS sore the next few days, but it's a good feeling because I know I worked hard in Emily's class! I also highly recommend their assisted deep stretch class. It's very relaxing and it feels so good to stretch and take your mind off of everything going on. The studio spaces are always clean and well taken care of. There's only been a couple times where a class was really crowded, but we always make it work!

This is the noisiest yoga studio that could possibly exist. Why? Why do you do this to guests?…read more We entered the lobby to cocktail-party level chitchat, which didn't seem to phase anyone but my friend and me. Nice Staff showed us to lockers. All that could have been ok if the class had been ... enjoyable enough to do. Why did the teacher have a headpiece for screaming instructions, when there is no way the room wouldn't be covered just fine by her voice. I tried for about fifteen minutes, trying to follow her sometimes muted screaming by looking around me. I gave up and went to the front desk where they kindly said this was normal and offered me a cup of earplugs to pick from. I took them and used them for about three minutes when I gave up. The place purposefully makes it so loud that they have odes of earplugs in a cute little jar on the counter. That's just messed up. I usually do vinyasa flow, my friend does Bikram and neither of us really knew what this class was. Worst $30 one a class pass ever.
