Some of these schools are great (specifically the Jhoon Rhee ones), but most are WTF belt factories. What makes this place special is that it is only a martial arts studio and workout gym. You come there to work and learn and be part of a community. The instructors are focused and passionate and they have my 10 year old reaching for aspects of himself taekwondo never did. It was challenging and refreshing in a different way and I really enjoyed it. The studio was very pain in orderly, but more than anything it was welcoming. With it being my first time, I was so pleasantly surprised to see a nice welcome note when I first walked in. It had my name on it and everything. I'm always a little skeptical of corporate yoga spots, but this one actually was quite warm and made me feel comfortable enough to come back. Plus, I really enjoyed the class. I might have opted for different music, but Melanie is at a great job. There is ample parking available in nearby lots. They offer refreshing eucalyptus towels.
