I actually don't know how many stars to give Mettler. I like (soon to be past tense) going there…read morebut it will all change come January 1st. Starting that day there will be no more classes and no more memberships. If you want to use the facilities, you have to book with a personal trainer at $55 per month. No more Silver Sneakers for seniors. There are members who have been taking classes there forever and who have been working out there forever. Mettler claims to love them all and appreciate them and yet this change. The focus is to better serve the community but I can't understand how that is achieved by eliminating programs and memberships. Mettler was a great place to workout. The atmosphere was relaxed. Most of the people there at the time when I went were seniors like I am; some in better shape than I and some in worse. The lounge area provided opportunities to visit and meet new people. People could leave personal items, even car keys, in the lounge's open cubbyholes without concern. I'm a proponent of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and by all appearances Mettler was not broken. Maybe it's because all the freebie Silver Sneakers were depriving Mettler of revenue. Letters with corporate jargon and platitudes offer explanations but I can't help but think it's a purely financial move. So, for Mettler Past I give 5 stars but to Mettler Future only 1.

Jasmine is wonderful to work with! She inspired trust and confidence from our initial consultation…read morethrough every session until my therapy with her was complete. I really appreciated how she worked with me to ensure I got the most out of my sessions and set me up to continue on my own with confidence. I will need to continue my workouts forever and Jasmine provided me with the education to adapt my workouts as I grow and progress. The reception and billing staff are also wonderful. They greeted me by name each time I visited and were helpful and welcoming with all my questions and concerns. I was very happy with my experience there and will definitely return if I need more therapy.

I joined this gym because it offered fitness classes and is very close to my house. The cycling…read moreclass I liked and was the only one that started on time, my work schedule changes so I can't go to that one anymore. The other classes start at least 10 mins late, which I sorta got used to and stopped coming early but you never really know when they'll start. The barre class (half the reason I joined was because I love barre and it was at a good time) I had to give up on a couple months in cause every week the teacher saunters in anywhere from 10 to 25 mins late yawning and scratching her butt, doesn't have any explaination or even acknowledgment that she's very late. I asked front desk about that and they said it's cause she has to get her kids to school. Should they maybe change class start time then? The equipment here is pretty old. It's fine if you're joining to lift weights, and kinda nice for that as the gyms never crowded. I woulnt recommend if cardio's your thing, there's no stair machine and the elipticals are as good as unusable, they screech with each step.

I was a member for almost 3 years…read more 1. The price is expensive for a gym. I recall it that if you signed up for a year membership and chose auto deduct from a bank account, it was $42-$43/month. If you did month to month, it was around $51/month. A big reason why I left was the price. Yes, that price does include all the classes, which they offer a lot (Yoga, Cycling, etc...), but it still wasn't worth it. 2. The staff was really nice BUT for some odd reason, whether it is a manager's decision or not, they use ROOMBA Vacuums. Clever way to clean but when you start getting into your workout, you will be surprised at how many times that little ROOMBA keeps tapping your foot or runs into your equipment. It is very annoying, thats a petty complaint nonetheless. Ive heard rumors about the manager and I've tried to stay away from him as much as possible because he seems untrustworthy and cares more about the dollar than the people. 3. They had a lot of equipment, so whatever type of gym rat you were, beginner to expert, you could find something. However, when they first moved into the new building by the Round Barn by Mattis, they had all the machines in that first area right by the desk. It opened up for more cardio space and more space for other benches and so forth. For some reason, they decided to move all of that around and make that entire area a section called the GRID. It is supposed to be an High Intense Workout similar to a Cross Fit type. Problem is, I went to the gym a lot, 4-5 times a week and saw nobody doing the Grid (unless they worked there). You had to pay another stupid hefty fee to have a session in the Grid. A complete waste of space and could be utilized more efficiently. 4. The Locker Rooms are so small. Such a downgrade from the facility on Galen Ave. Such a dissapointment, 2 showers, 2 stalls, and literally a 7X10 sq ft room with 2 benches for changing. As Game of Thrones would say, "Shame, Shame, Shame." 5. Cancellation was easy, walked up to an associate, said I want to cancel, filled the paperwork out, and I returned my key fob. Simple, no hassle. You get what you pay for with this gym. Quality equipment and plenty of it with tons of classes and floor space to have them. But I can go to planet fitness for $10/month and get the same workout and save $300 and not deal with any of what was mentioned above.

After moving to Illinois from California, I was extremely excited to have found a pole fitness…read morestudio in my area so that I can continue my journey. However, after taking 5 classes (3 of them which I had "injured" myself in which has almost never happened for the 1.5 years I've been training), I was extremely disappointed instead. Each class I had left feeling like there was no progress and in fact, I felt like I was back pedaling everything that I have trained and learned over the last year. I actually started to dread the weekly class membership I signed up for but since it was already paid and scheduled, I continued to go. The pole instructor Kyli was not very instructive in my opinion. She would demonstrate a move on the pole, stand back, sometimes even continuously checking the time on her phone, giving the impression that she was uninterested in really being there, awhile me and other students kind of just struggled to repeat what she had just demonstrated. When I would ask for further assistance...it was just demonstrated again. There is no coach to student engagement, no individual constructive criticism, or correct form. There wasn't even words of encouragement or affirmation when somebody would ace a move. After a few classes, I actually started clapping and giving affirmation myself to the other students of the class since nobody else, including the "coach, was doing it. However, when it was about talking about herself, it seemed like Kyli would be completely present. Which that alone was confusing. She would demonstrate part 1 of a move, tell a story for 5 mins about herself or how it relates, then continue on with showing part 2 of the move. Leaving me confused and distracted. In fact, often times I felt like I could have had more progress by simply pulling up a YouTube tutorial. I mean...nobody is receiving any feedback and we're just watching demonstrations so what exactly am I showing up for? Mind you, this class is only 60 mins long. It would be great if 15-20 mins of that class wasn't being spent on talking on things that aren't really going to interfere with what the students are here for. Even when looking at the social media pages and I'm seeing students being showcased, I'm seeing the moves in completely bad form...which if this was being corrected and there was actually engagement and wanting to see the students progress and perform at their best, it would showcase exactly just that. My "injuries" that have happened can absolutely be "my fault", however if there was more of a relationship and criticism being built, the chances of me executing a move correctly and safely...could of been higher. Hell, when I did have to repeatedly ask for correction of form (which was mostly always met with visible annoyance), look and behold, I would Ace it! No enthusiasm given with it though of course. To the owner and the instructors who are reading this feedback Please, start coaching. Not demonstrating and standing back, but COACHING. I understand a lot of us students are there for an outlet and to build community but it would be great if progress was being built as well.

Tara was great at adapting the workouts to my fitness level and injuries, especially some unique challenges that arose postpartum. I felt like she kept it challenging and new, but also didn't push too far resulting in injuries (like I had happen at traditional gyms). I'm moving out of state, otherwise I would be keeping up my regular 1-2x/week visits for health, sanity and lots of laughs! Also check out her unique couple classes, when offered. Husband and I really enjoyed couples yoga around Valentine's day!
