I just recently joined and I am so glad I did. I really enjoy Pilates and the fact that it's way more gentle on the joints however you can still get a really good workout. I love Club Pilates NW in Bakersfield. I have been going to classes there for over 3 months. I started with a 4 class per month membership, and now have an 8 class per month membership. I find Pilates a fun way to exercise. All staff members have been helpful and pleasant. I ask many questions and everyone is patient and kind. This place is the best! I love the staff and the place is clean. It is definitely my go to for me time. When I come out of class, I feel like my stress has melted away and feel like a new person. The staff is friendly and professional. The Pilates instructors are great. The do a great job at making sure your whole Body gets a workout. They are explicit with their instructions and always give you the option to modify, if needed. The equipment is maintained and clean. My favorite flows are on the reformer. Club Pilates offers classes for all levels. My favorite is the center and balance classes which help me relax. There are classes in the morning and afternoon into the evening daily. On the weekend they close after the early afternoon session. If you go on a weeknight prepare to wait for parking so go early or park on the Winco side. Club Pilates offers different package levels that are affordable. I do the small package which is 1 class per week. You can also pay as you for about $35 per class. I've been attending for several months now, and I have noticed that I am stronger and have more balance. When I first started, I could barely do bridge and now I can get into it without any problem. This was my favorite club pilates location as I have tried some in previous places Iv lived in So Cal and Texas. Leah did my intro class and made me want to come back and do more classes! I have been very pleased with the program. Full disclosure, I've only been going for about 2 months, about 12 visits so far. I saw an ad on facebook and was intrigued. Honestly, my attention was grabbed by the normal sized people pictured. There was an offer to try a class, so I figured there was nothing to lose. If I felt it was too much, I could cross that bridge when I got there. I was assigned to the NW for my trial class. I didn't understand that I had an option. I currently attend the SW location, as it is 5 minutes from home. After the intro class of about 30 minutes, the manager goes over details regarding their program and pricing. She is very clear and is happy to answer any questions. I would suggest you go over these details on the website prior to attending the intro class. In reading the poor reviews, this is where I think some people have gone wrong. Club Pilates is a business, not a social club. You have to treat this as a business transaction. The people at CP are super nice, and I have had a good time chatting with employees as well as others taking the classes with me. Everyone is supportive. The breakdown seems to be coming from misunderstanding the information, or maybe from being so excited, they just sign and move on. Ask questions. Understand what you are signing up to do and what your obligations are. If you know there may be a change in your life, such as pregnancy, you might want to ask about how your plan will need to change and when/how to do those changes early on. The 2nd month makes more sense than asking around the 8th and then getting upset because everyone didn't understand YOUR situation. Right now, I'm signed up for 8 classes a month. There was an introductory pricing, which changes. Again, another person seemed a bit shocked, but this information was gone over and explained. Ask questions and then ask more. Go over the website and write down questions, then make sure to ask all of them after your intro class, if you decide to sign up. You might do someone else a favor. Chances are that I will update my plan to unlimited per month. It's a bit more, but I'm building up to go more often and scheduling will be easier. I really like that you schedule the classes. It's like having an appointment and you don't miss appointments. It has really worked for me to attend. I like the organization. Each class is 1 hour. It's quick and you really feel you have accomplished a lot. Great instructors! read more

To be honest, I decided to try pilates because I recently found out that celebrity chef Padma Lakshmi does pilates. Have you seen her? I'm definitely willing to try anything that she does. I found out that Club Pilates has a free intro class so I signed up. Pilates involves a surprising amount of equipment and it was helpful to find out some basics before I committed to a class package. My instructor for the intro class was Sina. She's so warm, patient, and personable. I felt very welcomed in the space. I loved how I felt after the class. I felt a little sweaty and my muscles felt the right amount of burn. All the equipment is well spaced out so you don't have to worry about bumping into anyone while stretching. Each station is equipped with everything you need so you don't have to worry about bringing anything or hunting around for equipment in various boxes or shelves. A good portion of the class has you laying on the reformer machine so if you're a little self conscious like me, it's perfect because no one is looking at you. I ended up signing up for their 4 class pass. I figure it will be a nice way to end the week after working at a desk. They offer 8 class packages and also an "unlimited" package so you can take a class every day if you wanted. There's also a drop-in per class option if you don't want to commit to a package. I highly recommend trying out Club Pilates, especially if you're looking to strengthen your core in a low impact way. The classes are good, but the customer service regarding account maintenance and cancellations is exceptionally bad. I've sent multiple emails with no response. I've also been to multiple classes where people are allowed in late, and I think it's rude and disruptive. I had hoped for this to be a relaxing experience, but it's been equally frustrating. If I can't get my account canceled, I'll have to resort to a Better Business Bureau complaint. read more

So apparently if you quit Club Pilates, you must pay another month to get out of the contract. I am beyond disappointed with this business practice of theirs. Due to illness (Covid) I was unable to attend Pilates. They were gracious enough to put my account on hold. After about three months I received a courtesy call to let me know my account was going to be reactivated. I was having 3 surgeries coming up so I opted to cancel my membership for the time being. I was told that I needed to go into the club to sign a form ASAP in order to stop the auto payment so I would not be charged for another month. I went in at 7 am the very next day. Since then I was harassed on the phone about owing another month. I explained that I had talked to the manager and I did as I was instructed to do. The calls stopped for awhile. Today I received a call that my account is going to collections. I explained the situation and was told I needed to speak with that manager to clear it up. I left a message for her. When she called. I explained what was happening and she said "It's in your contract". I reminded her of our previous conversation but she just kept saying, "it is in your contract" I called the corporate office and they put you through to a voicemail box that is full and hangs up on you. On their website I saw others who were complaining of the same thing. This is just to say. Expect to pay an extra month when you leave. This is a poor way to run a business. I could see if I had received products. Or the instructors were there just for me, but I did not COST them anything. DUMB! I agree with the others. All is nice and happy until you quit. I am soo thankful all my Drs recommended I give Pilates a try. Having lupus and fibromyalgia hurting is pretty normal for me. Well my hip has been really bad and I was so hesitant to work out in fear of making my hip worse. It actually completely helped my hip! No more hip pain!! Poor customer service. When they make an error on your account charges it's almost impossible to get fixed. They only have 2 good instructors the other instructors are not in-shape themselves and can not do the moves correctly, so how can they teach a class on it. They make it impossible to cancel by closing the doors during business hours and they will not take cancelations by email. They also allow people to answer there phones during class, disrupting the others around them. This is not a professional business! Buyer Beware read more

Hope they reopen soon. After feeling like i was going to vomit after every class for the first month because I was so out of shape, I was finally making good progress when this dumb virus hit. Very, very supportive environment for all walks of life. Surprisingly, it seems that it is so scalable that the beautiful young girls next to me are getting just as rigorous a workout as me, the obese, out of shape grandma. This is the first exercise program that kept me challenged but injury free as my mobility and posture markedly improved in 2 months. Originally I had left club Pilates a really decent review. However, with my busy work schedule I wasn't able to make appointments very often due to them limiting the numbers or how many people could exercise in a class. When I called to cancel, they advised me that I had to physically come into their establishment. I already couldn't make it in for classes, but they insisted this was the only way to cancel. So when I finally got time, I went into club Pilates where they make you sign a form for your cancellation. Mind you, everyone is very sweet until you don't wanna pay them anymore. The lady at the front looked me up and down and said "well what's wrong with you". So, once I signed the cancellation fee I thought i was good. Never explained that I was still in the 30 days and would continue to be charged. So when I called them almost a month later to tell them I was charged they let me know it's in my contract. But don't let you know that 200$ will be taken out when you cancel. Nice people, until you don't want your membership. Then they just try and squeeze every last penny out of you. I got pretty frustrated on the phone, however they should really have better communication when you're cancelling to let you know, you're still gonna be charged that one last time. So if you're thinking about signing up, make sure you life isn't busy or hectic because when you try and cancel, it'll be the membership that never ends. read more
