I've been a customer of this store for 10+ years, since before its recent relocation to Wayne. Over the years, I've worked with at least two fitters, Jim and Steve, both of whom are incredibly friendly, patient, and passionate about the game of golf. Since CC's move to Wayne, there have been several new faces, all of whom are every bit as friendly and professional as Jim and Steve. The general concept is simple: you get fit for a club or set of clubs by hitting various combinations of club heads and shafts to find the one that best suits you. To that end, the fitter's knowledge of the various club heads, shafts, and their respective characteristics is key, and is not something you'll find in a big box retailer. It's an objective process. All of your shot and swing data is recorded on a launch monitor so you can see for yourself which products give you the best result. Many times those were the clubs I already had. There's no "upselling" or salesmanship as the numbers don't lie. In terms of cost, there are two general categories: the fitting service itself and the club head and shaft you are ultimately fit for--should you choose to buy them. If you have a particular budget, your fitter will do their best to find the products that are suited to your swing and price range. Customer service is also excellent. My fitters keep me updated on the status of my orders and have even helped me deal with the occasional warranty claim and repair. read more

I have been playing with the same golf clubs for the last 12+ years. Those clubs came from a big box store, that "fitted" me in their store. Their fitting consisted of me grabbing a driver and a few irons, and deciding on what felt best. Club Champion is a completely different experience and I am not only ecstatic by the choice to go there, I am satisfied that I got the best service and new clubs. Steve Harrow is a class act. Down to earth, informative, customer oriented, and obviously an experienced fitter that took time with me to understand the process, what each club makeup was doing, and why the choice I made was right for me. Within the first few warmup swings with my own clubs, Steve recognized a deficiency in the clubs I was swinging based on weight and swing speed. I can honestly say that I was not prepared for the original appointment; meaning I didn't realize just how many swings makeup the fitting. To that extent, Steve recognized this and didn't force me through the full-bag fitting, rather, encouraged and suggested that we stop and I come back on another day to finish. Club Champion, and specifically Steve Harrow, are without a doubt the best fitters I have ever dealt with. I have been working with Steve for over 4 years, and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. He is extremely knowledgeable in all facets of the fitting process. His analysis of the specific needs of my game has always been spot on. He is patient and cordial in our interactions and makes the whole experience enjoyable. Over the period we have worked together, I have seen huge improvements in my game and scores utilizing the various clubs Steve has recommended and then set up for me ( every club in my bag is a result of Steve's expert fitting). Specifically, distance has increased and dispersion has tightened without any other lessons from anyone. Even my putting has improved with Steve's fitting in that area. I recently had a driver fitting with Jonathan Sowash and he was fantastic. I have had several fittings in the past for other clubs at different places and this experience was by far the best and most enjoyable. Jonathan was professional, knowledgable, efficient, and engaging. He did an excellent job of explaining the trackman numbers and concepts to me as we progressed through the fitting so that we could identify the best driver for my swing. He also did a great job of breaking down various components and considerations with the different drivers we tested so that I could make an informed decision. I am very confident with the driver we selected based on Jonathan's feedback and guidance. I had an "emergency" fitting with Steve in Wayne after my 8 iron shaft broke in my hand on an approach shot. I actually stopped at the shop on the day of the round ( a Friday) and Steve set me up for a fitting the next Tuesday after trying to tell me he could fix the 6 year old iron. I told him it felt like a new tire on a car with 100k miles. We hit many irons and shafts in the fitting, all of which were contenders. But Steve's special gift is the obvious. We finally settled on a set of players distance irons that bruised my ego, but helped my game so much that I couldn't say no. My game is better because Steve and Club Champion know how to make me step back, look at the numbers and match the clubs to my game. Do I like spending the money that new clubs cost on a hobby? No. Is there any other place worth spending that money? Also, no! I have been to CC for 2 fittings now and I am not disappointed.
